hi there,

how do u use the toolset to amend an item's tier in a savefile, without the scaled item's material colour changing?

for example, i'm doing this to Templar Gloves (gen_im_arm_glv_mas_tem.uti). actually it's just plate gloves lol same specs but problem is the templar gloves do not come with tier listed on the icon description, much like templar armor.

but they definitely don't come at Tier 7. i think either  iron or steel, i am not sure since detailed description don't show it's current tier too. well what i did was amend the entry under party list > backpack, changing it's material type from '87' to '6'. this works, in game it changed to dragonbone. but unfortunately it does not maintain it's original colour. is there a way to rectify this?

* like u know, templar helmet. it does not necessarily come at tier 7, but u can scale it up ingame to 7. however it's colour is locked doesn't change at any tier. that's what i hope to achieve with the gloves.

thx

Colours can be fixed using tint overrides, which take priority over the material. Worth doing if you were making a mod for other players, but probably too much work if you're only tweaking your own savegame.

hi thx for the reply. i took a look at some tint override tutorials, but those i found mainly show u how to change all armor of a certain tier to a certain tint.

what if i wanted to override just that particular type of gloves i mentioned, and no other armor, could this be done to the single player campaign? i don't want any custom colour too, just want know how to swap between the colours of each existing tier for any specific type of item. for example, heavy plate gloves at tier 7 material, showing a tier 2 or 3 metal tint.

thanks

Here's a tutorial on how to do a tint override on one item. No reason why you shouldn't do that in the OC.

It requires a custom colour, so you could use one that looks close to the desired material. I expect there's a way of discovering the exact colour value used for the material, but I've never had to do that.

Thank you. i'll try this out tonight.
ya, i wonder if there is any way i can like, replicate existing iron/steel colour or something, then just rename it custom

edit

ya u're right i can't do it; have to make a custom tint which i really want to avoid. i really want to swap with a default predefined colour. i checked, it's iron colour not steel.

how about swapping the pair in awakening into OC origins? can u suggest a workaround?
there's a legit pair obtainable by players in awakening.

the one i'm working on now in origins is gen_im_arm_glv_mas_tem (i found it equipped on Gregoir, and used runscript additem); the pair in awakening dunno the ref name of it, i can't find it. possible to locate that pair and rename it a separate item & export it the OC in origins or something?
