There are Sooooooooooo many reapers... :)

Anyway.

There may or may not be a Maker, but there could have been Fen'Harel. He is still seen/heard by the Elves in their dreams you know...

Plus considering how trickster-godish he is, he may be the main villain of the story after all. I doubt if he can be killed, well... what God is God that can be killed? That's why Old God is a strange term.... I just want to know what are the thoughts of the Elves on the Old Gods... I mean the current Archdemons who may or may no be Old Gods....

when im not totally wrong the elves believe/d something about this line:
there were two "sets" of old gods. the dragon gods and the gods of the elven pantheon. both thought the trickster god -Fen'Harel- to be one of them. both were tricked by Fen'Harel and "disappeared" or something. the dragon gods, unable to move (prisoned in theyre mind or something) spoke to the tevinter mages in their dreams, teaching them bloodmagic. (i think) the dragon gods also told the tevinter mages to invade the golden city. something that should cost 3/4 of the TIs lyrium and also the lives of many many slaves. what happens next is we see in DA:O.

im everything but sure about this, its mainly a "put-together" of what i read in these forums so far....

hmm... I recently read some posts by Sirshrek who made such speculations like,

Arlathan = Golden city or equivalent
Old Gods = Forgotten Ones

Seems to have some substance....

What I want o know is what the Elves think about Archdemons.... What is their lore on them? Surely they buy the old God crap.. They have their own lore on Flemeth.. They call her something that translates as "Woman of many years"....

I can't tell you what all elves think about Archdemons, but Garahel for sure thought it is best to put a sword through it's skull. And I tend to agree on that.

Is Flemeth old enough to have even known Andraste? She's supposed to be 1000-years-old, right?

I think, Uldred = Baroness, except that the Pride demon possessing the baroness was stronger... So She did not BECOME a demon... The demon only ovecome her will, like it says in the scrolls of Banastor...

Uldred had a body to possess, Baroness had no body to possess. Justice states that she became a demon of pride. She was a spirit/soul in the Fade, fed off her prisoners' souls, became a demon.

Edit: Justice talks about "how there was such a mortal once" but now that it is a demon of pride. When she entered the Fade and fed off the souls, she "assumed that role." No possession, deal, or union is ever mentioned.

I really don't think that is the case. She wasn't born that  long ago. Besides the "Witch of the Wilds" makes perfect sense to me and If you can kill a semi-god like Andraste....there is something seriously wrong.

Flemeth needs to the Wardens alive to end the Blight in Ferelden and potentially/possibly provide Morrigan with her God Baby. She was going easy on you.

That's definitely true, given that she knew that being defeated didn't mean death for her, merely an inconvenience, while killing the Grey Wardens who were the only hope for Ferelden would be very bad for her plans, it makes sense that she sort of 'lets you win' the battle, she could be significantly more powerful than she let on.

I speculated a little while ago that Flemeth might be Fen'Harel, the last free elven god, and the entity known as the "Maker" as well. 'Twas quite a large post, should I attempt to find it again?

Actually No. The names are pretty accurate. Conobar WAS a teyrn to Highever. FLEMETH WAS the name of his wife.... Its all there in the Cousland history page which need not lie about anything....

Historical Account = Flemeth was Conobars wife and she ran off with a bard named Osen.

Flemeths Account = Osen was Flemeths husband, and Conobar offered money in exchange for Flemeth, which Osen accepted. Conobar then murdered Osen and took Flemeth as his wife.

It seems the Couslands may have some reason to lie.

Hmm, my Cousland didn't really 'react' to this revelation, and Flemeth certainly didn't blame me for my progenitor's behaviour.

By your argument I can't see why couslands have to lie!

I don't even know what really happened. I would take Morrigan's word for it, which is the latter choice. However, I do not believe Connobar was a Cousland. It said that the Howes once held Highever before the Couslands actually did. If I remember correctly according to what Aldous said, Sarim was the first Cousland to rule as Teryn of Highever for his own family name.

Anyone know whether Connobar was born before or after Sarim?

Conobar was not a Cousland. The first Teyrn Cousland was his guard-captain. When Flemeth killed Conobar he became the de facto leader. This happned 700 years ago in the Tower's Age.

Yea I knew it wasn't Connobar! Sarim was the guard then? Aldous does well to teach, doesn't he?

While I doubt that they're the same character, I'd like a future Dragon Age title to reveal a cynical-yet-liberating ultimate truth about the Chantry. I want to see Dragon Age's equivalent of Nietzsche proclaim that "the Maker is dead" and bring an end to the dogma that is the Chantry.

You know what? I disagree. If for no other reason that even if the Chantry was built on a scaffold of lies and deceit, it still managed to bring an immense amount of happiness and even comfort to the people of Thedas. Besides, killing off the Chantry just seems so... anti-climatic really.

i think it could make sense. i believe she's part of the dragon cult. the high dragon was protecting andraste's ashes... the dragon cult believed andraste was reborn in the form of a dragon, flemeth can turn into a dragon. that either means she is a dragon or she has spent a great deal of time around dragons, because as morrigan explains you have to study a creature and learn to emulate its soul in order to shapeshift into it. also it's not at all unreasonable to expect that it was morrigan and flemeth's plan all along to get you to kill her. after all, they were planning the entire time for morrigan to acquire the soul of an old god. and the old gods were dragons.

This is just speculation. I believe it is quite a possibility. Deception and high profile lover's quarrals and problems with governments seem to be a trend both share. Flemeth does give off the vibe that she likes to have things planned out, and people are often creatures of habit... perhaps so much to keep getting into similar situations... perhaps even on purpose. She may enjoy the grandeur; I definitely believe so from her attitude and strut.

I am making this topic with the expectation that it will probably get flamed or bashed. I am just curious to see actual responses.

While I disagree with bashing/destroying the Chantry, it would actually be very climatic, on the Qun side of things, since as soon as Thedas loses its faith in the Chantry, that really opens up the doors for the qunari to smash on in and take over. The only reason the qunari lost last time was from the Exalted Marches declared on the qunari in order to unite all the human kingdoms. So, hope everyone likes losing their individuality after throwing out the "oppressive" Chantry.

Well that's like saying 'I'm a Christian because we can't let the communists win'. First off Thedas is everything but free. They have monarchies mostly, thus inherited social standings. People of first, second, third class etc. and some regions even have slavery. But even if the people of Thedas were free I doubt they would need the Chantry to unite against the Qun.
