Seriously.

Maybe this is just a problem with the dialogue wheel, but I cannot get out of a romance. Anytime the opportunity for "not interested" came up I picked it. Thinking I was out of the romance I kept being nice to further the conversations along, I then reloaded and was mean to her, but it still goes to the romance. Now I'm at the part about her past, and the guy that loved her, and the result is either, continuing a romance, or only getting "F*** OFF" from her anytime I try to talk.

How annoying, and frustrating.
Either you romance her and she is nice (well as nice as Jack can be).
Or you don't romance her and she hates you.

I'm tempted to just kill her, make her the tech specialist or something. Well, maybe an exaggeration, but the way my character looks at it now, there is no way she is staying when the mission is over so she will just continue on her psychopath ways.

Edit: She is still loyal, I successfully calmed down the argument between her and Miranda, so at least there is some bright side.

Just "forget" to upgrade the Normandy armor so she dies early in the suicide mission like I always do.

This has several advantages:
1: She won't rear her ugly head into more of the suicide mission cutscenes (most important)
2: Garrus will speak up against Miranda during the meeting
3: She will be given an anticlimatic death
4: You will save time and minerals from not upgrading the armor

It's a win/win situation.

Sticking to the Renegade options during the conversation where she asks about your feelings works fine for me. After that she doesn't want to talk anymore (she says she doesn't wanna play) but it is the best you get without you hitting on her.

Unfortunately, I already got the armor :pinched:

And yeah, I have gotten the "i don't want to play" on another character, but I wanted to see if it was possible to go past that, I kept saying I didn't want a romance, I'm not interested, I can't fix you. And the crazy lady just thought I was playing a game with her! Sorry Jack, I was serious, now get off of my ship.

Wow, I never saw this. If anyone else wants to see:  at 4:37.  :o !

And OP, this is pretty much the same for any love interest - and something people have complained about in the past.

It's the same with Tali, she will tell you she needs to clean up the engine.

Miranda will tell you that there is a lot of work to do.

Jack will tell you to f*ck off.

At this point, it is either romance or not talk to each other anymore.

Sad to hear, but there's always the possibility to load up a older save before you upgraded the armor. Or just have her and Miranda in your squad when escorting a wrong biotic specialist (Jacob, Thane, unloyal Samara).

@Stefanbw

I understand when you stop a romance, the crew have nothing else left to say.

It's just frustrating that someone is pissed at my character because he's not interested (he is staying loyal to Liara) but he still plays nice, at least Tali/Miranda/Kelly/Garrus/Thane/Jacob accept it and have no ill feelings.

Generally you expect sad emotions, that's natural, but Jack is all kinds of crazy.

Yeh, it sucks that Jack only truly reveals herself when you romance her. Still, as a Jack fan: please don't kill her. ;_; There's always hope for ME3!

I felt that they built Jack too much around her romance.

Liara also suffered quite a bit of this as well.

If you don't like Jack, what about ehm, not talking to her at all? No need to post rage topics like this and make Jack fans like me angry ;-)

Play Femshep. Then she just eventually tells you she's not a "girls club" kinda person. ;)

Just don't talk to her after her loyalty mission. Because that's what I do. Or if you really want to talk to her, then try to make the conversation as short as possible, and be careful what you say.

That's genius.

Eh, but I do like having a fully upgraded ship, so I'll have to find some other suitable way to kill her off...

And sadly I think Dragon Age will be losing that as well, since it is going to ME style conversation, sad sad day. That's one of my most memorable things from DA, in my first game I romanced Morrigan, but Leliana was also interested in me. When I let Leliana down gently she was sad, but 20 minutes later she was saying how she "understands, and thinks I am good for Morrigan"...then bam, conversation kept going. It was wonderful.

The reason I was trying to be nice to Jack was because:
1st playthrough she died because I didn't have armor. I was literally leaving to go get the last 600 materal needed for it when I had to take the shuttle and the collectors boarded the ship, I then raced after the collectors to save the crew. So Jack died.

2nd Playthrough I got the "I don't want to play anymore" because I didn't talk to her enough. So Jack was mean.

Then on this playthrough I tried to play through it longer, and now just get "F*** OFF!". So jack is mean.

No good scenario if you don't romance her. Ah well.

I dunno I got really frustrated with dragon age in this area too. I mean just being friendly with someone leads your love interest and the other to think you want to get in their pants. This happened to me with Zevran even though I always picked the 'I want to be your friend' lines I still had to let him know that 'no, I really reallly only want to be your friend, I'm with this other person.'
But with Jack... I only had one male shep and he didn't romance her, I just ended up avoiding her after a couple of conversations. I'm playing through with femshep right now and trying to get through all conversations without romancing anyone but Garrus, Thane was easy enough but I'm not sure about Jacob but I think I'm doing ok just being buddies... time will tell I guess.
But yeah, just because she doesn't like you doen't seem a very good reason to space her...

Note I said that was an exaggeration, only because she frustrates me so much. Although I did say (from an RP perspective), that after the mission if she survives she will go back to her psychopath ways. Heck, I didn't want to release her anyway, after I learned how crazy she was from TIM, guards, prisoners, all I wanted to do was leave her there, especially since I had to release all the prisoners to do it.

And with Zevran, if you played a male character there is only really one dialogue option (maybe two?) that starts the romance, the rest of the responses don't, and some of them are very polite and friendly. If you were a female it's a bit harder. Either way, he will always flirt with you, but it doesn't mean you are romancing him.

Just with Jack, the only way to give her the hint you aren't interested is to basically shout and flip her the bird, because no matter if you are nice or mean she thinks you are playing a game with her, and a romance continues. The only solution is what others said, just don't talk to her after her loyalty mission, which is a horrible way to RP with a crew-member.

With other squad mates you get the sense that you are friends. With Jack you romance her or she hates/dislikes you. You also have to be male.

Also, Jacob had a friendship path.

Dragon Age spoiled me.

Yep, they had some nice friendship content in that game.

Sorry, but I think all of you missed the actual "not interested" dialogue choice.

Early on, when she asks, "you eyeing me up?" saying "I want to get to know you first" starts the romance.

You have to flat out say you're not interested.

I honestly wish they'll add the kind of conversation content they had with dragonage into ME3. I get the dialogue wheel, it's just faster, that plus a protagonist with a voice - real time conversations, but what I miss so much from DA is the party banter. I used to run back and forth the Orzammar bridge just to hear the ****ing and the jokes. I don't think my squadmates in ME know each other exist even. At least in ME1, those long elevator rides had them talking to each other, in ME2 the only time that happens is if you bring specific pairings to specific locations.

And Zhevran is just a man****, lol. If you tell him nicely to back off he'll do so and not hate you for the rest of the game. Sadly, ME is a better game for me, but the characters of DAO are far more memorable because of the sheer work the writers put into developing the dialogue and stuff.
