Hi,
i recently installed BG and the expansion on my new pc (Windows 7), i got the game in a box set along with BG2&TOB. Four discs in all, one for each game and expansion.
I installed BG and had no problems other than having to change the graphics setting. I then installed the expansion and was unable to play it because i kept getting a message telling me the game could only be played in US&Canada. So i switch my pc region settings, and it worked until i tried to go to Duergars Tower and it asks me to put in disc 6. Now i only have two discs, but i figured the expansion disc would have the necessary data, it didn't neither does the other disc.
I then copy and pasted all cd folders from the two discs and edited the Baldur.ini file to the new location (in the games folder). It still asks me for all the cds (so the ini file obviously didn't work).
So i have two questions, and any help would be welcome.
1) why did the ini file not work? (why do i still get asked to change cds) I followed the instructions here http://home.texoma.n...bg cd swap.html to the letter for the original, and the figured doing the same for cd6 would be fine seen as it was in the ini file already.
2) how do i get around the game requesting disc 6 when i want to go to the expansion areas? (Considering the expansion disc is already in the drive, and the pc reads it because it asks for it when i try to load up the game with the first disc in the drive)

A) You need to install the TotSC patch. Not doing that will break your game and installing the correct patch also solves the region problem.
You probably installed the game to c:\\\\\\\\program files and that's likely part of your problem. The files you need to edit (baldur.ini) are likely located among the "compatibility files" (explained e.g. here) but you'll probably have the least problems if you backup your saves (again, "compatibility files") and reinstall the game to e.g. c:\\\\\\\\games and place your saves in a folder called "save" in the BG1 installation directory.
C) It is possible to perform a full installation of the game (Custom->Select all options) without having to do any manual copying.

Well. I have Windows 7 installed. BG n Sword coast run perfectly except one thing - game crashes when i try to join/create multiplayer game. I don't have any clue why.

I had the same issue with the BG 4 in 1 box set. First of all, your BG DVD is considered CDs 1-5 and the ToSC DVD is CD 6. But mine also kept asking for CD 6 at Durlag's Tower whenever I tried to go there. I reinstalled the game with a custom install, checking all the boxes so everything was put onto the hard drive. I also recommend installing the patch to avoid any future problems. Without the patch, you just need the ToSC DVD in your drive to play (but you'll be able to get to Durlag's Tower). With the patch, it looks like you just need the BG DVD. Not sure why.
