When I started DA:O I created few different trial characters for some testing reasons.
All of my characters were sent to my online profile of course.
I erased all of my trial chars both in game and online but they keep on coming back to my online profile anytime the profile updates.

How can I get rid of them permanently in my online profle?
They do not exist in my game anymore and I've got only one character ...

Same here. I have actually stopped playing the game until this is fixed. Extremely annoying.

I'm having the same issue. I've restarted the game a few times, for various reasons (bad talent choices, wanted a different beard, etc.) and have finally settled on a character that I think I'll stick with to the end. Of course, this left me with a few aborted characters cluttering up my online profile.

I've tried half a dozen times to delete the characters from my online profile page, but they keep coming back. I've tried everything I could think of to keep them from coming back. I have manually removed their folders from the "Characters" folder and trashed them. I've even tried deleting the Profile.dap file in the "Settings" folder. No joy.

I suspect that the problem is on the server side. It doesn't seem that the game could be re-uploading the data after it's been deleted. I'd guess the data is still being stored on the server even after we tell the site we want it deleted.

Come to think of it, it seems to be happening as a result of the syncing process. This morning I looked at my profile once, and it correctly showed the one character I'm playing. I looked at it again a few minutes later, and it showed that character plus all my old deleted characters. Could it be that my first access of the profile triggered a sync operation that caused the system to dredge up all my old data?

To be honest, I can live without this online profile business. I've been playing CRPGs for years and I've never felt deprived because I didn't have an easy way to display my characters to the world. Oh, I can see how automated player profiles could be useful in building a community for a game like DA:O. But to achieve this end, it has to be done right. Among other things, this means not displaying every last aborted character regardless of the player's intentions.

As it stands, the player profile functionality isn't adding much to the game. To the contrary, it is becoming a distraction. I'm spending time worrying about my profile, when I could be playing the game. The existence of the "Delete" button on the "Manage Characters" page leads me to believe that Bioware wants us to have this control over what characters get displayed in our player profiles. I'd like to see the system fixed so that it works right.

The game itself is just wonderful, so far. I'm really impressed with the care the developers put into all aspects of the game, from graphics to writing to gameplay. I just wish as much attention had been given to the online profile component...

I wouldn't be surprised if it's not possible yet, the site is still in beta after all. If that's the case, hopefully it will be available soon.

EDIT: nevermind that, just click on manage characters.

That won't help Darth - you can delete the offending characters using the "Manage Characters" button, but when your client uploads to the website again, they'll be right back there. I almost did what Syvere did, but decided it wasn't worth it. Hopefully once they figure out how to make the game and site play well together, this problem will clear up. Though it would be nice to at least see an acknowledgement of it.

I'm not sure but it looks like it refers to the game files, because if you delete your chars online and you're not playing they do not come back.

Perhaps someone knows which file should be edited to get rid of the chars for good?
It"s strange, because as I mentioned before I already deleted them in game but it looks like they are still somewhere in some files.

The thing is that deleting characters DID work last week. It's DEFINITELY a server-side issue and they did something that broke deleting characters from the server.

It would be perfect if someone from Bioware would pay a visit to this thread and provide us with an answer ...

No, no one has an answer to this, and I'm going to report you for spam if you don't stop bumping. As far as problems go, this one is criminally minor, and unless they have a fair idea of what's causing it they're probably not going to bother looking too much into it until the more critical problems have been solved. If you let this ruin your game experience, you never really wanted to play the game all that much to begin with.

I'll add that I prefer to pretend that the time the developers don't spend replying to every single thread is spent on something more useful, like, say, developing. There's a rather good chance this report has been registered, and whether it has or not, if it isn't fixed in a week or two someone else will file a similar report.

Oh please, if you're bothered by, you know, support requests and bug posts GO AWAY! We really don't care about your opinion on this matter. If it's a minor problem for you then good for you, for others it might be a much bigger issue. And YOU, my sir, have no right to tell people what's minor or major. Next time think a bit before posting crap like that. The world doesn't revolve around you or your opinions.

Our developers are looking into this, but so long as you deleted them via the "manage characters" link on your DA player profile page, they should not come back.

Are you, in fact, deleting them using that link?

That's the problem! They DO come back even after deleting them from hard drive AND from player profile page using manage characters. Deleting characters DID work last week so something broke this feature.

More indepth explanation:
1. Make a new character -> uploaded to server and it shows on player profile
2. Delete all character related files or in fact delete your DA settings folder altogether from my documents
3. Delete character from my characters using manage characters link and then click delete character
4. Make a new character in game
5. Both, the new character AND the old character show up on player profile.

Thanks to this damn bug I have over a dozen characters I CANNOT delete on my profile page. Even if I do delete them, they all show up the next time my game and the server sync.

I have now deleted all my charcters from my profile. If you want to see what's happening on server side I can make a new character (or load up older one just to get server to sync), which will bring back all my previous characters, so you can see what the problem might be.

I also have the same problem, I've deleted all my characters and screen shots online. When I'm looking at the screen shots screen in the game under player profile it says that I have 71 files online out of 100 max. If I've deleted all my characters and screens how can I have 71 files online? I've deleted everything online via the manage links on the website so that's not the issue. I've also deleted the "Pre-launch Character" (I think that was the folder name) in the dragon ages folder under documents. So I'll see if that does anything, since it contained a lot of my old characters.
