I do not care a lot about the toolset. I do not use mods and I understand that it appeals only a minority of gamers (passionate and creative, but still a minority). But the isometric view is a big change... and I mean BIG. Maybe it turns out that the game will be better with those changes... I don't know. But without isometric view it's definetely another game. So, I think that the devs should only be honest and clear the issue. They should not say: "The Pc game will remain the same", because the removal of top-down view clearly changes the gameplay dramatically.
Btw, that's a reward for all the people who were complaining about DLCs and that do not want online validation of DA:O because it would hurt their privacy.... Piracy it's an issue. A big issue. And the result is that they develop game for consolles and only port them to PC.
But then, a lousy PC game gets even more downloaded, experimented and deleted. A good PC game will sell a lot, even to those who may have experimented it first. And pirated console disks are for sale everywhere and very cheap, which makes someone gain illegal money since they sell a lot. Way worse than d/l'ed files that may still revert into some sales.
Someone mentioned the movies industry or the enterteinment industry as a factor that is altering the mind of the gaming industry. I agree. But are all movies a huge box office sucess? And there are no more "art" movies? What about a multimillion dollars production like Avatar losing the Oscar of Best Picture to "The Hurt Locker" that had a very low budget compared? And movies are d/l'ed right at the day they start in the theatres. Does that make them earn less profit when they are good enough? Check the
IMDb's US Box Office: USA Top 10. Does US$ 288,000,000.00 sounds good for the 10th spot within 5 weeks? Has it been d/l'ed a lot? No idea but I'd say yes!
