As a console gamer I have to ask the following: was anything worthwhile actually produced with the DAO toolset?
Aside from stuff made by BioWare itself, obviously.
Also I design all my characters in the toolset since I think the presets BioWare provided with their Character Creator are substandard, and I use the toolset to make my own using many sliders and features that are not in the default Character Creator. I can say without any hesitation that without a Origins style toolset I will not buy this game, ever.
Also, the Legacy of Sundown, Wings of Velvet, and Ivory Tower mods. Granted, they're only item mods, but still. Insane detail.
I too design all my characters in the toolset, so the removal of the only good character creator (toolset for those not following) is a slap to the face and a kick to the jewels-n-sceptre.
On the removed camera view: I feel this will decrease the tactical feel of DA 2. I have played DA:O on both 360 and PC, fyi (granted, 360 was only on normal difficulty). As I recall, the 360 mage combat was just "blarghel AoE nuke spam lawl XD pwned." Now on PC, you actually have to aim your spells carefully so you don't toast your own companions and end up eating dirt, therefore smashing quickload for the fourteenth time. I like actually having to think when I play games. Now I may only be thinking "how can I knock the AI on its arse?", but for me that's better than point and click substandard shooter campaigns.

Piracy's worse on consoles? I don't see anyone going around saying 90% of the people who played their console game pirated it.
You don't go to Kotaku enough. This is a HUUUUGE problem with the Nintendo DS.

We're talking about consoles though, not handhelds.

Hopefully a BioWare Dev will confirm or dismiss this soon? The tension is escalating between the PC and Console gamers. This could erupt into a ugly war at any moment.

I can honestly say now, if proven true, I am not looking forward to this game. Every time I see something new on these forums, info or otherwise from you guys I prepare myself to cringe or bite my tongue at your incredible attempts to destroy all interest for this game, I really hope you're happy with what you are doing to this series, because as evidenced a majority of us are not.
You can now take out that bs about being the spiritual successor to baldur's gate, because it's not any more it seems. I'm ashamed to even acknowledge you're the same company at this point. Bah, I can't even muster any more words to describe the seething anger I feel for this game. If I'm proven wrong however by a dev or otherwise, then I'll reconsider my view on this, but at this moment I'm raging bad.

Honestly, as someone else mentioned earlier, user-created content hasn't exactly taken off the way it did with NWN... I know that a lot of cool mods are probably forthcoming, but really, I don't care if there are 11ty files available about "how I think Leliana should look... I changed her hair and made her nude"

If it's true, though...it's going to essentially make the game unplayable to me. Not being able to go isometric to target AoE spells and get a better view of the battle is pretty much a dealbreaker. Even with the best story in the world, terrible combat = bad game, as far as I'm concerned.

I didn't notice a lot of bugs. I don't care for mods that change item stats or anything that goes beyond cosmetics so no toolset is no big loss for me.rexil wrote...

Aside from fixing a lot of bugs? Plenty of fun things that make you want to play the game again and again.

You haven't? So Alistair has never referred to himself as king for you when he isn't, and his pre-romance kiss scene isn't broken? Among many other things? Lucky you.Estel78 wrote...

Someone please explain this to me, I know this post will likely be buried. So, console users expect pc users NOT to be pissed that a big part of the pc version of DA will be removed from DA2?
No, just when people post things like "We PC gamers made Bioware" we find such self entitlement hilarious.
Or at least I do.

Even Diablo is like an RTS only that you control just one character. But yeah, Diablo would be easiest to port to consoles, maybe they'll do that with Diablo 3.Sirsmirkalot wrote...
Like diablo?Estel78 wrote...
And that's only because they only seem to make games that are just not suited for consoles.

There weren´t that great differences between the MEs. Went too far with some things, such as no inventory or equipment modding, but the only thing I noted with gameplay was maxed-out biotics were no longer gamebreakers and there were no godmode habilities.Estel78 wrote...
ME2 was a great game in my book.Catsith wrote...
This isn't very surprising. They want to pull another ME2: streamlined, better graphics, severely dumbed down gameplay. At this point I'm expecting there to be no inventory, too.
What they´ve hinted so far for DA2 seems more radical, so there´s reason to be worried. Maybe it´s just me, but I don´t like changes to gameplay within a game, even if it is a style I like. I don´t want DA combat to be like Gothic, or Ego Draconis, or classic turn based, even if I enjoy games with them.

I simply want publishers to make games that take full advantage of all platforms they are released on. ME1 is a good example of a solid pc port, imo. ME2 wasn't. Why the shift in emphasis?

I think the toolset would be a bigger deal to me if there were some actual single player mods that you could play like NWN and NWN2. The armors, bug fixes and cosmetic changes are nice but I was hoping the mod community would take off more.
For me the Isometric view is a big deal as is the human only PC. It will almost certainly mean gameplay changes in combat (more KOTOR like) and less replayability.
I hope you know that making a good playable modules takes a lot of time specially when the tools provided aren't that easy to work with. But now they are starting to show up, there are some (still small) but good modules on dragonagenexus.
I'll have to look there cause I've only seen about 4-5 here and only 2 of those are any good.

I somehow doubt the article is legit. Considering as how them admitting they are making the game with the console in mind contradicts everything they said previously about focus being on all versions. BioWare isn't stupid.
That is why we are waiting for a dev reply but alas no dev has replied yet.

Why does Bioware want to turn Dragon Age into Mass Effect?
KOTOR would be more accurate.
I suppose, but the dialogue wheel and the whole "cinematic experience" thing screams mass effect to me.
