I may be wrong, but didn't someone say something about the console version being made differently than the PC version (i.e. PC doesn't get screwed over)? Whatever happened to that?

EA needs to sell you sword and armor packs.

Apparently that's what its come to.... Ugh.

Why do people come into these threads and tell people how childish and ridiculous they are, because their opinion differs? If I disagree with something I will post a reply, but why be rude about it?

I'd like to see some dev confirmation one way or the other on this.

If it's true, though...it's going to essentially make the game unplayable to me. Not being able to go isometric to target AoE spells and get a better view of the battle is pretty much a dealbreaker. Even with the best story in the world, terrible combat = bad game, as far as I'm concerned.

If the game is a 3rd person fighting game, then AoE spells will work in a different way.

Which would suck.

As someone pointed out, the gameplay will probably be a revisited version of the Kotor combat system.

That'd be about the most disappointing thing ever.  KOTOR's combat was awful.  Spamming Master Flurry is not fun or tactical gameplay.  The only thing that made it tolerable was that you could basically ignore it because it was so pitifully easy.

True. Either you totally screwd character leveling (I did the first time, Malak was a nightmare) or you could take any enemy for breakfast in Hard. Even in Awakenings I had to pay more attention to some fights than in Kotor. The only difficult part there was leaving Taris in level 4 doing all quests. If you didn´t care for the arena, you could leave with in level 2. Easy is not the right word for that.

Sorry, saw the portrait, saw the name Estel (assumed female).

Estel is the elvish name they gave Aragorn when he was young and means hope (from Lord of the Rings).

seriously people if a new game was coming out that has all the crap that DA2 looks like it will have, you wouldn't be interested in it because it didn't have a zoom-out view, a toolset, and you couldn't be an elf?

Considering I can't think of a good fantasy game that wasn't either iso or first-person (Wizardry/Might and Magic style)...yeah, pretty much.

It all has to do with how fricking ridiculous the post you are responding to is.

That sounds a little ridiculous to me :o

Elf I can handle due to storytelling.

Zoom out view is great, but ok, I can deal without it.

Leaving out the toolset stinks of EA trying to sell us packs for crap DLC I don't want when players make much better stuff.

Streamlining does not mean removing key features. It means making the game more accessible to the masses of idiots.

I somehow doubt the article is legit. Considering as how them admitting they are making the game with the console in mind contradicts everything they said previously about focus being on all versions. BioWare isn't stupid.

They did indeed say this. They will be catering equally to both platforms. It wouldn't surprise me if the article is wrong, or something was mistranslated.

Then we can all look back on this and laugh.

Another person with a tunnel vision with no respect for facts or reality. Do you know that Console games are a lot more pirated than PC games, right? And that since they are actually sold in physical disks around the world, someone also makes a lot of illegal money from it, right?

You have any data that backs you up? Or else i'll just not believe you.

Fact is that many developers blame piracy as one reason why they turn their backs on PCs. Another reason is the ease of development since consoles are a closed platform and nobody can install just anything they want or change hardware.

Fact is also that they make more money on consoles, regardless of which platform has more rampant piracy, or else - believe me - they wouldn't concentrate so much on consoles.

From another thread in the off-topic... if you still don't see this as a fact... they i'd say you're as blind as you want to be.

Over 2 million Movies and Softwares CD/DVDs, PC and Console, lots of Console games CDs and DVDs aprehended and destroyed!

And people think that file sharing causes any loss... lol. This is what causes loss because someone is actually making lots of money from it. Money that should be going to the devs, publishers and well, to the tax collectors as well so it might revert in benefits for the society. (As though they did that with the taxes we pay...)

Do they do that? In someplaces all they can think of is passing some crazy laws against internet users!

Dan Bull - Dear Mandy [an open letter to Lord Mandelson]

Edit: Abt making more money with consoles, but of course. They sell a PC game here for 99,00. A console? for 250, 300! The pirated console? 10 bucks! =P

I get that.  I don't get the, "there's no point in even playing this game," mentality, though.  Like a game cannot possibly be good unless it meets X prerequisites.

lol I used to hate first person views in RPGs.  I had to overcome a lot of dissonance in order to even play any elder scrolls games.  :o

You don't think encounters will be designed differently due to less field of view from a strictly 3rd person based perspective? Tell me you're not that naive.

Tell me, where did i say that? Combat as a whole will of course be designed somewhat differently but differently is not necessarily worse.

For a supposed party based tactical gameplay system? Er, yes I'm within my right to say a strictly limited 3rd person view will hamper gameplay.

And how do you know if the poster doesn't speak english well, or whatever. Is it really necessary to be an a**? I could insult a lot of people in this forum (not just this thread) because of the stupid crap that they say, but I don't because I'm an adult. I can disagree with something but I'm not going to come out and say "you are ridiculous".

Ahh okay, Estel seemed a bit of any old school name, I was picturing an old lady with bee-hive hair-do that enjoys knitting.  Haven't read LoTR in years so that escaped me, so he had three names Strider, Aragorn and Estel.  Gandalf as I recall had several as well.  That Tolkien really enjoyed making things overly complex.;)

Heh, I'm more than willing to eat crow if I'm wrong here. But, I dunno, with the current state of the game industry, this stuff isn't exactly implausible.

There was a recent episode of "Louie" that is a perfect example of this. He's dealing with someone talking during his stand-up routine. After the show, he gets into a relaxed argument with her about why it was wrong of her to do so. She felt that she was entitled to "participate" in the show since she gave the comedy club her money.

for alot of people its replayability that matters and once you've played it you want new and different when dlc is released not all like them so they make mods to spice up their game removing toolset makes some lose intrest in the replay aspect
