Btw, another example of what can be done with the Toolset...

Warden's Fall, machinima mini-series:

it got quite a few praises even from BioWare devs. go figure.

Fair enough, even I enjoyed that. Still, it's no playable module.

You should check then "Emmisary" (which I talked about in a post 10 pages away) and
"Hilltop under Siege"; both great.
Alley of Murders is good too.

Doesn't look all that bad, but not something I'd pick the game up for again just because it's there.

I will still buy DA: 2 Mostly because even though i like everything from importing old characters into new games or DLC. But i also have a question for the Bioware team. So since Hawke (Main DA:2 Person) is from Lothering which is(well was since DP destroyed it) in Fereldan Will we be playing as Hawke in a New coutnry like Orlais?

Again i really hope this is just a epic Troll.

My answer will be this quote:

All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed.
Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being
self-evident.
Arthur Schopenhauer.

I had already announced the SPOILER    Alistair/Morrigan scene before the release of the game due to a magazine, I created a thread at the time, and almost none believed.

Believe me, I wish this was all a joke.

@cmessa Sorry i had said something offensive in anyway i didn't mean to. I was just saying it wasn't buggy since. I own a console and i have no idea what this toolset but what info i have gathered it lets you make pretty much your own Dragon Age world?

Well, to be fair, I'm on a PC w/ an XP OS and have had very minor isues concerning bugs w/ DA:O. Apparently the same cannot be said of Vista or Windows 7.  Awakening was littered w/ bugs, but as of 1.04 it plays fine for me.

I wonder if the issue with the toolset is time related. They were working on DA:O for five years and the development cycle for this game is much shorter. Perhaps that was an issue for them: the payoff was not enough to justify the rushing it would take to complete the toolset by the game's release.

You have to understand something. PC gamers are used to having so many more options than console gamers. Options for controls, and for controllers. Options for getting involved and creating their own content. Options for higher graphical settings and larger, more intensive games. Thats the pc gaming heritage.

Only a few games come with toolsets and what do you mean with "more intensive" anyway?

In my honest opinion PC gaming is overrated. I was a PC gamer exclusively until 3 years ago, i know a thing or two about PCs (studied informatics even). Yes, you get somewhat better graphics if you own a good gaming rig but it's also much more of a hassle (software or hardware conflicts, driver issues etc). You can be lucky and don't experience any problems whatsoever but chances are sooner or later something might come up.

Wow... I don't even know where to begin, but I'll try.

-cheaper games
-broader selection
-strategy games (usually don't make it to console)
-upgradeable hardware. Try that with the xbox
-there a dozen quest mods for The Witcher, two of which are made by the devs. All are free. Something you would  never see on consoles.
-ever played the Terran X series? No way in hell could the consoles support a game like that. Control scheme is too complicated. you don't even have the option of using a key board and mouse. Just silly.
-ever hear of emulators?
-and my personal favorite: no motion control games. Have fun playing wall-ball with your tv. :wizard:

So, my question is:
don't we worth no more such a reward? What was wrong with us?Didn't we buy enough PC version of origins?

Here's your answer: it is a lot of work to include a feature such as a toolkit.

Damn, I might as well get the console version, then.

They did say that DA:O saves would carry over across platforms, right?

I'm just waiting for the epic reveal that they'll only allow save imports as a console exclusive feature....

I don't see why they can't release a toolset with DA2, BioWare built the Eclipse engine in house they own it and all the associated tools. Packing them together into something a modder can use isn't some massively expensive job requiring millions of dollars and hundreds of manhours. Bethesda released a toolset for a game that they didn't own the engine for, what's BioWare's excuse? I've been modding for years and I can say that toolsets and map makers aren't some rare treat we get every now and then. It's far more common that you're making it out to be, PC users have had them for years. Many players didn't even know they were in the game's files since it was considered routine only a few years ago.

I think you're missing one critical point; there currently is not a "DA2" Toolset; what the developers are using, according to what I've heard, is the same toolset that they used for DAO, with some minor modifications. There have been rumors that they might later release a DA2 toolset, but it's not a priority this time around like it was for DAO.

This is an sentiment that gets thrown around a lot, the "who cares about feature X, they should spend that time working on feature Y instead" argument, and I don't really like it. All of these features contribute to the whole of the game. You could use the same argument to say we should cut everything from the game that isn't as important as the story, and then what do you have? A book. Nothing wrong with books, but I'm not asking for a book, I'm asking for a game. Or you could make that argument to say it should focus entirely on combat awesomeness, and then it would just be endless plotless combat. Which some people might enjoy, I don't know.

Your argumentation is flawed. Cutting iso-view is not akin to not focusing on combat. They are changing combat somewhat, whether for the better or worse we'll see when the game comes out, not sooner.

You mean X2 and X3?  hmm, I don't see how that would be out of the realm of possibilty

Also again, Unreal Tournament 3 has mod support on the PS3.  It is possible.  Consoles are just computers with fixed specs.

At this point, nothing would surprise me in how they'll find inventive ways to gimp the PC version. I just can't wait to see how AMAZING the textures are going to be since, you know they must be so brilliant that we need to stay zoomed in to stare in awe at their visual super hot splendor.

Not true. Else we wouldn't have lightmapper problems. There are differences in the glue that holds the little bits of toolset together. The toolset itself is the same, yes, but BioWare has some licenced tools that they can't release to the community, and that causes some (if not most) of the technical modding headaches.

You do not need to apologize I didn't take offense. But I am a former PS3 DAO player, and yes there are soo many bugs that I was unaware of. If you would like I can provide a list, I think you would be surprised, I know I was. But again, you did not offend me.  :)
