Sorry, but this is where I get off the train. Hopefully The Witcher II will be less of a massive letdown.

While I understand that making a toolset for the game is probably very resource consuming, I'm still disappointed to hear there won't be one for DA2. I enjoy mods very much and agree with those who think they add replay value to the game. Very sad news indeed.

Could we have a translation of the quote concerning the toolset, please?
And no top-down means no friendly fire on spells, right?
translating now and will update the OP ASAP
I think the full version of your translation makes it even worse.

Well, i wonder if they were actually talking about DA in general in that interview, or were just focusing on console version and features of it (or lack thereof) It's possible extrapolating that onto PC version is a mistake.
I'm going with this. Everything that has been showed/demo'd/reviewed has been the console version trying to showcase its changes from DA:O (in terms of combat, reactivity, speed, action etc.). Everything that has been mentioned about the PC version (especially on this forum) has been that it is relatively unchanged from DA:O.

It's not like the button mashing version had a toolset for DAO to begin with. So why would they mention about DA2 not having a toolset and no aerial view?
No aerial view:crying:

And what makes you think the PC market is broken? The PC is one platform that performed less than 2 other platforms combined, big deal. I bet the PS3 also outperformed the Xbox's sales.Solid N7 wrote...
See my point the pc market is broken and this very unfair to some pc gamer of this forums but to other pc whiners of this forum they deserve it hahahahahahahaha .
Anyway, if this is missinformation then the thread will be closed soon enough I think. Otherwise, I think we could see that as some form of confirmation.

What is the problem. Its only the console version of the game which won't get the tactical version of the Top camera view. As for the PC version your going to get it. There are the real facts not the crap one from that article. I've been reading these forums for almost a month. I know its true I read it from the post of the designers like david himself.
The interview and then the article of the journalist are quite clear. No tactical isometric view for Pc version of the game. They just said that the "gameplay would feel as close as possible" to the original DAO1. As close as possible does not mean identical.
If you have links proving me Mike Laidlaw gave false information to the journalist concerning a) No toolset, b)no isometric camera, I'd be a very happy woman for being wrong, trust me. Untill then...

For my current play through I had to fix the attack speed bug (as I planned to run both Momentum and Haste). It took me around two minutes. There's really no excuse for that bug to exist for almost a year now.

Maybe a developers word is needed here to maybe exlain... or something.
Maybe you should go read the Gamer informer article instead and look through the forums with the Bioware logo under them. I guarrantee you'll find your answer.

Y'know, the more I think about it, I realize my view of toolsets has been a bit warped. The biggest games I've bought in recent history for PC were NWN, NWN2, and DA:O. All of these games have toolsets. But what I think is often forgotten is that having a toolset is the exception, not the rule. I think it's great to be able to mod games and enjoy community content and everything, but it's very easy to start thinking it's standard when it really isn't. It probably takes a lot of time and Bioware doesn't really gain anything back for it. Not bashing the toolset, I'm just sayin'.
This are my thoughts exactly. The toolset was sort of a "free goodie" thrown at us. We obviously got used to it and are disappointed that it's being taken away. But we never should've expected that it's something that the devs HAVE to give us.

Give the link to the article then! I want the link to the article. I'm sorry I'm not going to believe this, for two reasons. I've seen the reports from DAvid and the other writers and designers of the game. I've check out the Game informer article. I'm not going to believe this article until I have a link.

I will say that, if there is no toolkit for DA2, then BioWare's patching department really needs to step things up.
The workaround for this is to buy DA2 sometime in 2012. It'll be cheaper then, too.

Seeing as you are on a first name basis with David Gaider, surely you should know that he is a writer not a game designer?

Why would you stil want to buy it? This started as a "spiritual successor to BG" and now they are taking away the aerial view.

True, toolsets are an exception in the video game landscape. But DAO 2 inherits a community that has been spoiled by toolsets. And there are many modders behind DAO 1.

This is actually my main concern. However I'm more concerned about the dialog bugs. The dialog fix mods are probably the most important ones for DAO. I'd be very surprised if DA2 doesn't have some of the same horrific dialog bugs that DAO had, so let's hope that if the modding community can't fix them then at least they'll actually step up in that department.
