Just because that's the only type of mods you have bothered looking for, doesn't mean everyone else has done the same.

No, they're the only mods that are praised and made. If you think otherwise and think I am being silly, you should stop arguing with me you immature, insecure man.

*sigh* Please read the thread and spare the insults.

I think Ser Gilmore, Fragments of Ferelden, Kal-Sharok, Bloodworks, DAQuest, Return to Korcari Wilds, and a few others I've missed/forgotten all want a word with you.
And check my sig.

The voice actors in ''The alley of rupert murdoch'' in the trailer sound like as if they're pinching the tips of their noses when they ''speak''.

Mod Edit: Inflammatory sentence removed.

no No NO!

Seriously? Two new confirmed information and both are once again terrible?

It seems as if everything that was good in DA1 gets torn out, without a toolset we won't even be able to change the things in the game we dislike, and without top-down view the game looses a lot from tactical play and I might say this decision spits on the predecessors like BG or IWD.

I now seriously start to lose hope that the game will be good or even worthy of being called DA2.

At least my DragonRAEG char doesn't look like a hippie at a hippy concert.

This man proves my argument right, the only people are angry at this are those that install the countless amount of petty mods.

This happens when I pull up the mod list on this site as well. First page http://social.biowar...m/project/2739/

Angry at what? They've said that they're looking into updating the toolset to be compatible with DA2, so nothing is set in stone.

So once again, you're either a troll or a dribbiling idiot. Or both.

Alley of Rupert Murdoch? WTF are you on?  My apologies that we can't afford professional actors and a recording studio. (Edit: Actually, no. I don't apologise to you. This is done for free. I don't get paid for this. My VO actors don't get paid for this. We put our own time and effort in to provide content.)

Seeing as you're not content with the hard work and effort of other people, I'd like to see you contribute something worthwhile to the gaming community instead of just bashing the contributions of other people. Until that time, I'm afraid that your opinion adds absolutely nothing to any discussion.

So in other words there's no aerial camera because the designers are too lazy to code it.

With that sort of attitude from the design team, sounds like DA2 will be a huge flop.

Guys, I don't really care if you want to argue your hearts out, but for the love of god, learn how to quote properly! No one wants to see a full quotation of the conversation tree from the antediluvian mud-slinging to its penultimate point.

Better yet, take it to Private Messages! In case we all need reminding, this thread is for discussing the recent changes announced for Dragon Age 2.

Hey folks,

Victor managed to hunt me down, and I wanted to clear up a few things with regards to what I'm seeing as the two major concerns on this thread.

First off, let's talk about the toolset issue. Obviously in this community there's going to be some concern that we wouldn't release a toolset, so let me clear the air a little: The tools we're using to make Dragon Age 2 are very, very close to the tools you guys have used to make your mods for DA:O. They're not identical, as we've made a few in-house improvements, but they're almost identical. As such, there isn't a new toolset to release, per se.

While we won't be releasing a toolset update in tandem with Dragon Age 2, we ARE investigating what it would take to update the community toolset to match ours, along with providing DA2 content in the future.

As to the subject of tactical view, I can confirm that we will not be doing a tactical view on consoles, though we are looking into some expanded party control that I think will make console players quite happy.

On the PC, however, we are still working with the camera to keep the key elements of the tactical experience there. I was actually playtesting some new camera code when Victor found me, in fact, so I can give you the latest news on that front.

While we likely won't pull as far up as we did in DA:O, I have always felt that the key to tactical play was actually freeing your camera from the character you're controlling to issue precise orders, which is what we're tuning now. So, this means you can still maneuver the camera around the battlefield and issue orders from a remote location, just as you could in Origins.

As you can probably tell from my phrasing, all of this is a bit in-flux right now, so things may change between now and ship, but I wanted to update you guys on the current direction of things.

Mike..

This post is disturbing, reassuring, worrying, calming, annoying at the same time.

I wonder if this means we'll be seeing something similar to the tactical camera from NWN:2, where the camera doesn't follow one person but instead hovers over the combat as a whole.

This crap reminds me of that banal fan WoW movie that some irish guy made a few years called ''Tales of the past'', it was blatantly crap to anyone who has actually read a book but everyone praised it like as if it was the best thing EVAR despite the fact that it was full of fan fic, bad voice acting and awful in geneal. They actually putr months of their lives to make that crap and it was still crap. You have way too much time on your hands and this coming from someone who is raging on a BIOWEAR forum. Seagloom, Stanley Woo and that other person took my normal keyboard aweay from me and replaced it with one that lower case keys on it. That is why I rage so mucg.

Awesome modders: I thank you from the heart; you have made fantastic mods and I adore them. Ignore the clown ass troll. Thanks again for the sweet add ons!

On topic: I've been cool with what DA2 is until this thread happened. I'll remain skeptical and await more info.

It is like these guys have forgotten that they were the experts at making games.  They take all of their queues from EA and from "the audience" now.

The audience aren't makers of great games.  We merely consume them.  Why not just start making versions of bejewled with a story-line?

And relying on EA to express what used to be what they were all about isn't evil or anything.  It is just kinda lazy.  I guess bioware isn't hungry any more.

Thank you, bioware, for DA:O.  Heartily so.  Had I known it was the swan song rather than a renaissance of bioware's entries into the epic, party-based, tactical CRPG I would have waited until it were finished with all of its dlcs and bought it all at once to gorge upon it rather than putter over its crumbs.

Ah well, they fooled me once on their reputation.  Not twice, though.

I sure wouldn't buy a PC version without a correct tactical view, that made the game sooo much better than the console version. There are and will be more and more other good games out there, so too bad DoA2 if they go that way.

My apologies to joriandrake and everyone else, it appears I got trolled. (I hope you derived whatever pleasure this gives you in your sad existence, Sago)

I believe Mike's post saying that there should be an iso-camera (albeit less zoomed out), and potentially toolset compatibility is all that needed to be said. I don't expect BioWare to treat us like dirt, we have the Internet for that. I trust they'll give us enough to make us happy. That might not be a toolset, but if that happens, so be it. I've enjoyed Mass Effect even though it doesn't have a toolset.

This, I don't see the big deal about the possible  lack of a toolset. Mass Effect was great. And it doesn't even have a modding community, let alone a toolset. A game thats truly great doesn't need mods, they just add extra icing to the cake.

Casual gaming is very lucrative, and it has a huge market.  It would be very economical for bioware to start making casual, mobile platform games.  That is ... if following the audience it important.

Wow. I miss everything living in the UK, it all happens when I'm asleep. Eh, have to say I used third person view more than isometric in DA, but a shame nonetheless for those who prefer top-down camera. Hopefully this hybrid will be okay. And I sincerely hope that Bio releases a toolset update at some point.

Regardless, thanks to the OP for the info. Thanks to Mike (and Victor!) for the clarification (hope you, your partner and baby are all managing to get some sleep Mike :)), and thanks to people like AmstradHero for making players like me want a toolset so we can continue to enjoy your work. Seriously fella, loved Fate of a City for NWN2, loved Alley of Murders, and am really looking forward to Shattered War. In the end, it's people like you who make games with toolsets worth buying for me. x
