I have Googled and forum searched like no other, and I cannot find the help that I need for this issue.
I have the Steam version of Dragon Age: Origins, and for DLC, I have the Stone Prisoner and Blood Dragon Armour. I need to find a way to install the DLC to the game, but I have no idea how.
I have been given no option anywhere to download or install the content. On my Bioware page for DLC, it has dashes where the button to download would be. I have redeemed the codes for the DLC as well, since I can of course see them on my profile.
I plan to get all of the DLC, but I just can't friggin' find out how to install it. It hasn't been downloaded to my computer, and Steam doesn't show me if they automatically installed it (I know they automatically install updates as they come along, but do they automatically install authorised DLC?).
I've also gone to Steam forums and such, and saw step-by-steps, but none of them seem to help my problem.
And to be frank, I'm super new to Steam, so I don't really know how it works with downloading and installing DLC. I figured you'd buy it from the site, but it appears this isn't so.

Have you seen this? You probably have, though.

Ultimately, reading about all the Steam issues with the game, though, convinced me to go retail and spend a lot more money *sigh*

I've got the Steam version and I've had absolutely no problems. DLC installs through the game, not via the Steam client.
The link lizzbee gave will help a lot, though. What's strange is when I read those walkthroughs, they seem really complex, but the process is rather simple - or at least it is when it works.

Lizzbee, yes, that's one of the ones I did read and found myself confused.
Some of the files they suggested me to look into don't exist on my computer (and yes, I did set hidden files to show).
Also, I can't find the Dragon Age Updater Service on my computer.

Maybe your current installation of DA:O in Steam has missing or corrupted files. To fix this, select Library > Games in Steam interface and set it in Games Details mode. Right-click on Dragon Age: Origins entry and select Properties. Open Local Files and click Verify Integrity of Game Cache... If some files are missing or corrupted, they will be redownloaded.
Once you have performed these steps, try again to download your DLCs following the steps given in the previous posts.

Does Steam automatically install patches though? Or am I wrong about that?
Also. How do I actually download the files onto my computer? My redeemed promo section gives me all the DLC that I have access to. It shows all of my X-Box 360 DLC for ME2, and then gives me the option to download the Blood Dragon Armour for ME2 on the PC. However, it doesn't allow me to download the Blood Dragon Armour or Stone Prisoner for Dragon Age Origins.

It automatically patches the game. As I said in my above post, you can download DLC in-game. When you load DA:O up, click on "Downloadable Content".

The DLC will be downloaded in-game. Once DA:O is launched, log in to the same account you use to enter your redeem code (the Log status button in the lower left corner of the main menu should display "Logged In") then click Downloadable Content. Once your Point Balance has been updated, the various DLCs your are entitled to will be downloaded (you can follow these downloads progress under Download Progress tab in the same panel).

Problem is, it's not there. And that previous post with the link telling me to go to Control Panel/Administration Tools/Services and find that updater service is not there. I did find a daupdater.exe file in my Steam files. I clicked on it, and it tells me to find DAZIPs, but I don't know where they would be.
I look in Downloadable Content, nothing.

That why I suggest you to verify your installation of DA:O. This service should be automatically installed with the game and is required to download the DLCs.

Aha, I've just thought. The Free Jaffa is referring to DAUpdater.exe, not daupdatersvc.service, which I believe is the one which authorises DLC.
If that's not running when the game is (load DA:O up, minimise, bring up Task Manager and look in processes), then it means registry fiddling time. I think.

I did that too. I still don't see it.
In C:\\Program Files\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\dragon age origins\\bin_ship I find the files daupdatersvc.service.exe and daupdater.exe. I tried opening daupdatersvc, but it tells me I need Installutil.exe installed to use it. I cannot find this file either. *Sigh*

Please, first check your installation of DA:O has I suggested in previous post.
If after this verification, the service is still missing then try to launch DAUServiceSetup.exe located in Steam\\SteamApps\\common\\dragon age origins\\redist

I did it right after you told me, I still don't see it. I found DAUServiceSetup.exe, and don't see it still.
But I did find the daupdatersvc.service.exe, it's right next to daupdater.exe. However, when I try to have daupdatersvc.service run, it tells me:
Cannot star service from the command line or a debugger. A Windows Service must first be installed (using installutl.exe) and then started with the ServerExplorer, Windows Services Administrative tools or the NET START command.
I'm not computer illiterate...but er. I know I'm doing something entirely wrong and installing this stuff shouldn't be this difficult.

You cannot run that programme yourself. If you read my previous post, it tells you how to find out if the service is running as it should. If it doesn't show up in Task Manager when the game is running, then something isn't working correctly.

DAUServiceSetup. exe is the installer for Dragon Age Updater Service (daupdatersvc.service.exe). You cannot launch the latter directly. I really do not know why you have this issue with your installation of DA:O

It's not listed in my services or processes, I launched DAO, and started task manager.

Wahey, we found a problem. What OS are you on? Forgive me if you've already said.

Success!
Okay, It took awhile, but it finally appeared in services. I don't know what did it, but it wasn't appearing even after I tried to install everything. But I went into the game and now my DLC is available (AND the list of DLC that I can purchase).
Thanks guys, I appreciate the help immensely. I'm sure I was doing something wrong, but I'm just glad it's solved (although, spending so long on this is tiring).

Not a problem, TFJ. I'm glad it's suddenly started working, and don't hesitate to post again if it goes wrong.

Also, I think it wasn't running properly. Because when I laughed DAO, that's when it appeared in Services as already running, but I didn't have access to any DLC. However, I left DAO, stopped it running then started it again, and now it works.

Is it possible, that if you bought Dragon Age from a shop then Steam, you can some how intergrate the steam client with the game so you can access purchases from steam for DOA, like Awakening?
