Thank you for proving my point, which was that games don't need multiplayer to remain popular as long as there are dedicated fans to play them. :P

did i suggest something different?! multiplayer is just a factor to keep the brand alive... but da:o somehow lacks in every aspect which leads me to the point doubting that in 2 years there is still a huge da:o modding community like for other games - always given that the current situation won't drastically change, which is highly doubtable too.

A quick nit-picky point.  Ogre3D is not a game engine.  It is a rendering engine, not a game engione.  It's one and only function is to get stuff to the screen.  No scripting, no networking, ect ect.  If you're looking for 100% free game engines, then I'd take a look at www.panda3d.org.
