Both Dominate and AI Hacking are extremely good. They can effectively kill an unprotected enemy and crowd control a lot of others in the process.

I don't see the value of investing more than 1 point in either of them though. Sure then the CC effect is better, but if the target doesn't die, now you have provided them with shields or a barrier.

I remember using Hacking in Tali's loyalty mission on Insanity. It was a really big help, much more than her version of the drone (which completely unlike the player version has an awfully high cooldown).

I could never get Tali or Legion to hack anything but the lowest level robots or geth. Having the YMIR hacked would be nice.

Well you have to break through their defenses first, i.e. they have to be down to health. That said, even hacking a normal geth completely disrupts their attack.

If I remember it correctly, I kept hacking the Geth Hunters.

I will try hacking the YMIR on that mission you get from Aria since there are 3 of them. If I hit it with the nuke it should get two of them close to the health bar.

My problem with hacking Geth is that their tendency to rush towards the player is preserved, even when they're temporarily converted to your side.  So the hacked Geth swivel around and shoot their former allies while still moving towards me, only to have the hacking expire when they are close enough to be deadly.  It doesn't happen every time, but it has happened often enough to make me despise certain squadmates' skill sets.

I hate geth.

I love Geth, just bring Energy Drain and you can pretty much run around without them touching your health. Keep an eye out for Destroyers (hate those guys - love to detonate them). Fight the Primes head on; melee distance - they can't defend themselves that way, just make sure you kill his goons first ;)

Geth also do not do well against biotics since their health is so low.

I've been lucky then, it worked fine for me.

Dominate seems to work great also. Never seen any affected enemies run towards me.

The shield/barrier that you get from building the skill, however, is only a bad thing. I wish it would increase the duration without adding a shield.

But the good thing about hacking is how it effectively controls several enemies regardless of their defenses.

I never used Tali much because I didn't like her skills either. Hacking only works on synthetics, and her drone ability has much too long a cooldown. I am just saying, however, that you shouldn't disregard Hacking or Dominate entirely. They can be incredibly useful.

Would be worth it for some characters to put just one point in one of them I think.
