I'm playing ME1 again, before going through the sequel. I had a paragon Shepard save. When I play with a new character, it shows a cute-ish face and the voice also sounds different, more light-headed.
I've come across some information about voice pitch and facial morph when you follow the renegade or paragon path.
Still, it is a pain to have it stuck with all the other characters you create. Maybe it is part of the profile (?).
If I delete my profile I lose my medals, and the problem stays if I earn paragon again.
Is there a way to disable the voice pitch and face morph in the UT game engine config? Or some other tweak to make the changes go away?

I've never notice that, but in ME2 you become the Terminator with glowing red scars if you choose the renegade path.

You can delete all of your characters without deleting your entire profile, you know. This will keep your achievements but you'll have to start from scratch with a new face and you'll begin at level one and the starting equipment. You'll lose all of your medigel, omnigel, and credits, too, of course. I have no idea if this will fix the issue you're talking about, but it should; this isn't at all the same as starting a new game based on your old character.
What percentage of the total Renegade points do you have to get to receive this appearance alteration? I didn't notice it even on my Renegade character, but then I didn't choose all of the Renegade choices and thus did not gain all of the Renegade points.

I think it can't be avoided since I'll be importing the character to ME2.
The strange thing is that new characters that I create in ME1 still make a funny voice and that silly grin - just because I make a character go full paragon previously.
Really, it was game breaking for me to see "Rainbow-Shepard" appear all of a sudden in all my new characters.

Are you certain of this? The Mass Effect Wikia page on Morality says nothing of this, and I have not noticed it on nine play-throughs of various alignments. Unless you can post your source, I'm inclined to believe that this is deceptive perception at work.

Perhaps the game was designed so that the character reveals more of the alignment expressions on the following games.
Each time the character continues to develop the paragon path, the voice sounds higher pitched. Facial expressions in my game made Shepard be always smiling and rising his eyebrows whenever a paragon reply was made. This happened in the begining of a new game with a new character too.
I just deleted all profiles in the game, then deleted the profile file in the save folder.
Now I can play with the normal Shepard again. Lost all the achievements in the process though but that's no big deal for me.
There should be a way to turn the voice pitch thingy off, at least. I think ME2 only changes appearance, and that's OK for me. Paragon voice pitch is realy silly.

Being a paragon doesn't change ANYTHING about Shepard other than heal his scars.

Wrong game, wrong forum, Spin****e. (Edit: for real? **** is blanked out? Not-see? Oh, for the love of mud!)
Caillem, I've played seven Paragon characters on the same profile, and I'm rather certain that what you describe has not happened at all. Where's your source?

I'm sorry that you deleted your saves for nothing, but alignment does not effect appearance or voice in ME1.

It is true I used a bit of sarcasm because I was frustrated. I have my renegade Shepard now.
This is my first appearance in the community but this is not a troll post. No need to call anyone names. Having played ME1 some time ago, it only makes sense I had backups to play the old character. I just deleted the files in the save folder.
The issue is resolved. Thank you for your replies and happy gaming.

How is it the "wrong game"? I told him about the only way Shepard can change due to his alignment in a ME game.
I could of said paragon and renegade have no effect on Shepard at all, and I'd be saying the same thing. (In relation to ME1 atleast.)

I also used texmod to correct garrus face texture. I don't know if this can mess up with the game. It made some graphic glitches appear sometimes, like some images in the inventory showing strange colors sometimes. I stoped using it though.

It's the wrong game because there is no change for Shepard due to Paragon/Renegade in ME1. This is the ME1 forum. The whole topic belongs on one of the ME2 groups.

The original post claims that there are facial and vocal changes in Mass Effect 1 for Shepard based on alignment, which isn't true.

There are expressions related to the mood depending on the path you take in ME1.
Usualy, Shepard is more like a bully when talking to people with a renegade path. In a paragon path, he starts smiling alot to some NPCs about half the paragon meter.
I played both paths and it is realy awesome how the story can mark so diferently.
Haven't had time to play ME2 yet. I'm expecting it'll be a blast!
