I think she might be the most frightening enemy in Origins OR Awakening. i just found her horrific.

i mean the other DS are supposed to look really scary but they don't quite hit you like that.

I wonder who the Mother formerly was anyway. She seems too important for her past identity to become a complete and ghostly alias which will never be revealed. Any takes? Perhaps once was a Witch of the WIlds?

hmm that's an interesting thought.

I suppose I just assumed she was some unfortunate human woman who got turned into a broodmother. When she encountered the Architect he took "pity" on her and tried to free her from the Old Gods' song..



but yeah, it would be really awesome to know her story, who she was. You're right, she was probably someone/thing powerful to rise so high in DS hierarchy..

perhaps a friend of the Architect, even? she does call him father, and she is mother.. hmm

That's what I thought also, especially her laughter made me think of Flemeth.

maybe she is a witch of the wilds. maybe even an experiment that just went wrong.



i wouldn't be surprised if they were lovers though... as gross as that is..

Yeah and the Architect with his large head and ribcage reminds me of Alien...

Architect is quite interesting looking. He is not described as looking this way in The Calling but artistic license and all that.

I just pretended that he altered his own appearance slightly between the book and when we meet him in Awakening. i dont know, his design in Awakening makes it look like he had at one point looked like a darkspawn but perhaps tried to alter his appearance. like tried to give himself a facelift.

Maybe that's why he's blind and looks like his face is melting. He also grew out Utha's hair and strapped a sword to her back.
