I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one here who dislikes Religions in real life and kinda wished for more Chantry destruction in the original Dragon Age, but I'd love it if it was possible on your DA2 Evil Path to slay chantrists and burn their chantries. It would add more epicness to the evil path of Hawke's storyline. Who agrees with me?

*blinks innocently*

P.S. I'm aware of the whole defiling of Andraste's Ashes in DAO, though I want more...

Dude, we could do more than that. It was just an idea. Basically, I would love to play an evil path.

so my choices are:

1. burning down the chantry

2. burning down the chantry and destroying the universe in the meantime.

sounds good to me....

I'm hoping for an entire Reformation starting with Hawke. You don't need to be an incredible warrior to be the most important man in the development of a continent. Martin Luther, Charles Darwin, Sir Isaac Newton and the list goes on.

"You all saw it: That orphanage attacked me first!"

And yes, I would love for more chances to stick it to the Chantry, if only to laugh at their tears.

What's evil about freeing people from religious servitude, dogma and opression based on fairy tales?

Bwahaha! Me too! XD Gosh, we're so evil. :D

I'd play an Evil Path for my first playthrough, then I'll go Good or Neutral Path to see what I missed. :P

I wouldn't mind some sort of storyline that could pit you against the Chantry, though I wouldn't want anything like a straightforward "Evil" path. It leads too much to choices that no sane person could ever make other than to prove how feindishly evil they are complete with mwah-ha-ha laughter, and feels cartoony. Besides, assuming that your "Evil" playthrough would be against the Chantry already assumes that the Chantry is on the side of "Good", no?

The Chantry is behind a lot of things that are at best morally questionable and potentially evil depending on your own viewpoint, which could hinge somewhat on whether your Hawke is a mage, and Hawke's opinion of Bethany's status as a mage. The Chantry might not be as all powerful in the city states of the Free Marches as it is in Ferelden, so it could be fun to pit the Chantry against another group or put them in a situation where you could potentially lessen their influence and see the results as the game moves on.It has the potential for a fun, shades of grey kind of political decision rather than a moral one.

Yes. You have a point. Though in their POV, we'd be evil. Some people like Wynne...

I dunno but my apologist friend seems to think people will start abusing their children and mutilating their bodies.

Needless to say irony is often lost on him.

I'd love more choices to be blatantly anti-Chantry. I don't think it's particularly evil to oppose oppressive organised religion though...

Yeah... Being atheist and playing on a good path would also be interesting. Though it seems more fun to destroy the whole "religion", if you're playing evil or politically.

Ohohoho, something like the City Elves. That would be deliciously evil. XD

I also wonder if you could recruit other companions on other "paths"... But that should be discussed in another thread. Thanks for sharing your ideas, people. ^_^

Politically speaking, I don't understand why more Arls, Banns and noblemen don't try to subvert the Chantry's control. It is a direct challenge to their authority in the region and the more morally questionable characters (Anora, Howe) don't make any kind of power plays against them. Loghain does in his attempt to poison Eamon but that was more or less just pardoning some peon captive because he wanted him for a suicide mission.

As long as it isnt done in the same way as Fable 2:

"Here, have some cheese. Oh no dont mind the horns or the smell of brimstone, have another piece of cheese. Now were friends! Come follow me to this big creepy cathedral were I have absolutely no intention of killing you." *shudder* NPCs in Fable deserve to die for their stupidity.

And I am totally going to call my Hawke 'Richard' naow.

I've always played against the Chantry as fairly good characters. There's no objective morality meter in Dragon Age, so there's no reason why you can't support the Chantry for either altruistic or selfish reasons or oppose it for either altruistic or selfish reasons.

I'm not against religon, it's a very good way to stop an uneducated populace from declining into the worst kinds of depravity, it's just that smarter minds in the aforementioned populations are able to find a way to twist religon to their own ends, usually towards the kind of depravity and intolerence that the religons founders were trying to stop.

baahhhh, not the cheap fable way. rather the "storming the orphanage, imprison orphants, burn down the orphanage, and last but not least order the orphants in some evil diabolic way, then burn the orphants while screaming 'this is for you, GarGathulothDevourOfMen, your loyal servant asks for demonic power' or something"

True. I was more thinking about the tagline that said : "Become one of the most important people in the whole world of Dragon Age." Then I was thinking : Why not going Voldemort, becoming the most evil being on Thedas and destroy everything along the way? I thought it was wicked. Then the idea of destroying the Chantry and its faithful servants was a good idea to spread terror in the Free Marches, Ferelden and other places.

well, they do say that the question is WHO calls you champion. if that can be an evil old god/s ill pick that one. if not, well then ill search for another way to satisfy my evil and diabolic nature....

I think any kind of evil in the game will be of the siding with demons and ripping off peasants variety rather than infanticide and/or genocide.

Hmm... Siding with the demons creatures reminds me of Radiata Story's fairy path. That would be interesting.
