I do because in every ME game so far there is always only ONE member of each alien specie as a squadmate.....therefore if the Matriarc had to replace someone it would HAVE to be Liara....like Kaal Reeger would HAVE to replace Tali (hypotetically) unless in ME3 they are going to break the mold and allow more members of each  specie

as for telling her to **** off......that's just to emphasyze one's willingness to send her away in favor of someone else (the matriarc) the fact I dislike how Liara has turned out in ME2 has no influence on this aside for the fact that if "I" personally had to choose I any of my squaddies to be airlocked in favbor of the bartender it would be her

Man, you are hurting my brain. Liara is a character who is fairly central to the story. She is not being "replaced" or removed from the universe. She is also not a squad member in ME2.

The squad in ME3 could be literally anyone. We know nothing about this so far. So sure, a random bartender character with no skills that we are aware of is going to be part of the team that Sheppard takes to destroy the reapers. That sounds totally logical.

a 1000 years old matriarc who can throw singularities and was the daughter of an ex commando matriark and a krogan warrior

yeah.....surely inferior to a 108 asari baby who lived most her short life in dig sites.....

look I am not hating on Liara here but honestly which one would you pick for your squad if you just had their resume?

as for Liara being central to the story........uhm.....sorry but as much as I loved her and romanced her in ME1 I do not see her as THAT important...she pard himself (the protagonist) got killed and resurrected by Bioware I'm sure they could make do without Liara

You're going down the "chill out, she's not real" route? Seriously? Is that it?

Fans of a character/movie/band/book/lawnmower/whatever will passionately defend what they're passionate about if they feel it is being baselessly attacked, just like the clown who created this topic is doing. It's nothing new or novel that's limited to this website.

Uh, yeah? That's pretty much my argument.

Passionately defending? Awesome. But that's.. not really what happened here.

I would be hugely suprised if there was not some sort of payoff for those who chose not to explore the romance options of ME2, and "stayed true" to Liara. But maybe that's just me.

Yeah, true...but this BW employee also said that those that did not romance her in ME1 will get another chance in this DLC...I kind of like that, as my second Shepard has no LI from either ME1 or ME2.  But, we shall see.

Until I see it, I won't beleive it.

Really? I gave my opinion, chuckled at a fellow member's post before beginning my discussion with you.

Poorly worded or not, the OP is still tantamount to incitement to flaming. Defend it all you want as legitimate discussion, but when the creator expresses the desire to tell a character to "**** off", and singles said character out, it's only going to arouse flaming.

Whether you see her as important or not isn't the issue. Bioware clearly does. The character has been cross-promoted in the comics/graphic novel, and is now being featured in what is esentially the first DLC that actually advances the story.

No one is saying she is going to be a squadmate, so your whole argument in pointless. However, she is clearly going to have a part in the final game.

We could also spend hours randomly picking background NPCs and theorizing that they will be squadmates in ME3, but it seems a little pointless to me.

AWWWW

too bad, pick every single word apart if you must but the truth is that I do not dislike Liara, only the lazy writing behind her in ME2...even so the whole **** off deal is merely to underline the willingness of sending her off not the motive behind it.

no need to over analyze it....we knew she was going to be a big part in the thrid game the moment we found out she was not recruitable in ME2

So then what is the point of this thread? Could you not have just started a thread that said "the asari bartender is pretty cool"?

an hypotetical....nothing more..not to mention that the "big" part she might have could very well by played outside of the team (I would actually like that) even tho I am not keeping my hopes up

also...I specified after that I'd give any of my other squadmates for her not just Liara

I didn't see any opinions or arguments, just a bunch of people dismissing the post, actual trolling, or cursing him out. ::shrug:: And I'm not even saying people shouldn't dislike this thread, I'm just saying, there's a definite overreaction going on. Which I'm adding to by arguing about it, so lolz.

As for the '**** off', that's the poorly worded part I was talking about, actually. If he'd used the phrase 'take a hike', which is interchangable in some people's vocabularies, would that have been better? People say they don't like other characters all of the time, I just don't understand why it's considered trolling in this particular instance. He didn't even say anything like 'Liara is a ***** she should die in flames'.. He just said he would replace her with the bartender, which IMO is a legitimate opinion. I'm conflicted on whether I share it, as I love the bartender and could take or leave Liara personally, but I'm of the opinion that all LIs should have equal parts in ME3.

But anyhoo, OT, whatever, this is way too much arguing for something so trivial. It just struck me as silly, some people seem to think everyone is out to get them because someone else doesn't like their LI.

You know it is funny I like Tali and Garrus the most as LIs but I have killed them 2 times I wonder if any Liara fan would kill her if they could :innocent:.

Since you put it that way, I would happily trade Liara for Matriarch Aetheta or an asari commando voiced by the same actress. But that's just me.

Edit: Note that the "sleep with you in  a heartbeat" part isn't really a selling point for me. I just think Claudia Black is awesome.

You do realise that I actually do not care what this individual or anybody else says about Liara? Some people do not like her. Whatever, I can deal with it. I don't care.

However, the possibility of the OP being poorly worded is largely an irrelevance, as it's content is still tantamount to trolling. It doesn't matter what the original intent of the post is, or whether there is any legitimate discussion that was attempted. The fact is, the OP said something, poorly worded or not, that was intended to troll. I don't care what he says about Liara, that he doesn't like her or wants to get rid of her. Big deal. Whoop de doo. I do however care about obviously transparent attempts at trolling, thinly veiled by a largely redundant discussion topic. That's what my beef is.

...Honestly?
I wouldn't mind trading the martiarch bartender (Aethyta?) for Liara. It'd be a pretty silly thing for the developers to do, but if they put a different asari into the squad instead of T'Soni, I'd be perfectly okay. (especially if voiced by Claudia Black) Liara just never did much for me.

Also. Agreeing with Aris Ravenstar here -- a lot of you guys seem to be overreacting. I don't see this as a blatant troll thread. It's not like people on the forum never call out the other specific NPC's/squadmates. Some people hate the characters that others love, but it's all (usually) in good humor.
