I have to admit, I'm addicted to playing a Vanguard and in fact, the Vanguard is so far the only class that I've played in ME2 (okay, I did an Adept playthrough once too).

Anyway, after beating ME2 on every possible difficulty with my Vanguard, I'm willing to give the other classes a shot. But I don't know which class I want to pick first. So that's why I ask you guys:

What is your favorite class in ME2 and why? Please try to convince me to try out your favorite class first!

Soldier is probably my favorite, but Sentinel is also pretty good.

Please don't just tell me your favorite class, but also why it's your favorite class! I'm really interested in why you people think the Soldier or the Sentinel (or any other class) is so awesome.

Fav class...Vanguard.... awesome to charge into the fray with the claymore and blast em

ties for 2nd are Infiltrator and Sentinel...nothing like debuffing enemies and then blasting them to pieces

Infiltrator + Shotgun

Devastating at long range, unstoppable at close range.

Use the Viper and Locust at long range to take enemy defenses down, hit them with Cryo Ammo and CC effects and kill them at your leisure.

Or cloak up and storm the enemy's flank, hit them with the SMG or Shotgun from point blank and mop up the rest in the deadly crossfire.

Sentinel and Vanguard are my top 2 at the moment. I'm giving Soldier a second go at the moment since the new DLC guns are making me want to do a Widow/Soldier playthrough.

Infiltrator, because it's got pretty much every range covered. Long-range? Snipe. Mid-range? Pistol/SMG. Close-range? Cloak, sprint, and make the enemy eat a thermal clip's worth of SMG bullets, with some melee tossed in for good measure.

I've played all the classes multiple times. Since you already said you played vanguard, I'm gonna suggest the CQC sentinel.

Here are my reasons.

1. Assault armor is awesome. You get the max cooldown early in the game. Nothing better than having a squaddie or yourself use area overload or area energy drain and run up knocking everyone down as your armor explodes, punching and shooting everyone.

2. Once you get the shotgun, you're basically a vanguard without a charge. Sure it sad that you can't charge, but you got a lot of other nifty powers. Reave, throw, warp, overload, cryo blast (I don't use cryo blast but hey it's an option) and all those powers have a nice 50% cooldown with the guardian build and upgrades. You can spam them to your hearts desire

3. You don't get natural ammo powers. Another sad thing, but hey that's what Jacob and Zaeed are for. Jacob becomes surprisingly strong and useful when playing a sentinel.

Soldier. I find weaponry much more fun to use than biotics, and the wide range of guns you get as Soldier makes for a versatile build. Also, it's the only class that has access to assault rifles, and therefore the amazing Revenant LMG.

Infiltrator and Adept. I find Infiltrator to be more of a challenge then the Adept though.

Soldier - The ultimate assault class.

Vanguard - With assault rifle training, you're nearly unstoppable.

Sentinel - A caster version of Soldier, and a tank on the battlefield.

I was addicted to the Infiltrator and needed to break away from my comfort zone, so I went with the Vanguard. From a sniping, cloaking class to an in-your-face, shotgun class. I loved every minute of being a Vanguard, but when it came time to pull out a save game to try out Kasumi's DLC for the first time, I went with an Infiltrator. And suddenly all my love for the Vanguard was put into the far back of my mind.

Adept took a lot of work to figure out on Insanity, but the end result was extremely satisfying. I think this class bowls over any other class on Veteran and below, though, where the Adept powers are particularly well suited. But then the Overlord DLC came out, so guess what I did? Yep, time to take another look at the Infiltrator again.

Then it was the Engineer, which I'm on record somewhere as not enjoying as much as I thought I should have. But instead of running back to the Infiltrator, I started up the Soldier playthrough. The adjustment to all weapons all the time rather than throwing a power into the mix every once in awhile took me a bit. I was going to figure out the Assault Rifle, but then... I decided the sniper rifle was even easier to use with a Soldier than it was an Infiltrator. But given the choice, I'll go with the Infiltrator anyway.

I love sniper rifles. I love the Widow. I want to create a "Widow Anti-Material Rifle for squadmate and LI in ME3!" thread. I love tactical cloak. If not for setting up a headshot, I use it for a sneak attack--always did like playing the rogue classes. If not on the attack, I was using cloak to pick up more ammo for more headshots. Most of all, as I won't use tech/biotic powers with the Soldier, I love the tech powers you get with the Infiltrator. Incinerate. Energy Drain or Neural Shock. So much win.

Go Infiltrator. Scope and drop.

P.S. Check sig!

Either Sentinel or Vanguard for me, I think. I also like the Infiltrator quite a bit.

Engineer by far.

I've always liked the 'power' classes, and the Engineers seems to have the most unique and fun power arsenal this time around.

The drone is awesome, you can burn people, freeze them, overload shields and synthetics, hack synthetics....good times.

Choose the soldier. Oh, and you asked for us to try and convince you about why you should pick the class we reccomend? Just go to youtube.com and search "mass effect 2 revenant" Image IPB. That should be convincing enough

Nonono. Doesn't matter what class you are, all you need is Reave.

I'm switching my answer. After playing with the Sentinel, I've decided it is my favorite class. It is so well rounded, offering good defense(tech armor) and good offense(warp, throw, overload). Once I train him in assault rifles he'll be unstoppable. :D

It's honestly a toss up between Soldier and Adept.
Soldier is thoroughly a beast and that's my canon Shepard. The raw offense is amazing, it's versatility is unmatched.

Adept would be my #1 but it did get nerfed considerably compared to it's predecessor. Even though it was overpowered in ME1 everything that was 'trademark Adept' has been either split into 2 evolutions, scaled down, or straight up taken away. Just typing this makes me want to go back to ME1.

Honorable mention-
Vanguard is most thrilling class by far, but I can't really compare it to the other two because it's too unorthodox in my opinion. To be great at this class you have know the game, know the map, and know enemy spawn points. There's plenty of bugs with the VG(maybe only on 360) and I just get very very irritated after a while.
