Sentinels. They have a perfect mix of combat and biotics, and that tech shield just plain out rocks, especially when fully upgraded.

What you lose in range power is nothing compared to what you get with upclose combat power.  All you lose by not picking the Widow is damage, getting the shotgun gives you Ninja Vanguard tactics on top of your snipe skills.  Shepard just became a lot more versatile, overpowered, and fun.

 Infiltrator is my favorite.

However I came to like Vanguard as well, once I got the hang of it.  High learning curve for me.

The implementation of the firepower pack has reawakened my dormant passion for the soldier again (no ******). The mattock/widow combo + all damage multipliers just cuts through everything like butter. The adept is a close second though and I intend on playing a vanguard eventually.

This.  I just recently took a Shotgun Infiltrator through Insanity and now am halfway through my NG+ Insanity run with it.  I have to say it's been the most fun I've had playing this game.
It really is quite versatile and opens up a lot of tactics making you think about battles in a completely different way.  Being a former Vanguard addict myself I highly recommend giving it a shot.

Seriously.  Infiltrator + Shotgun = Awesomeness.

I've only played a Vanguard and a Soldier in both ME1 and ME2, and the Vanguard has been my favourite by far in both games. In ME1 he was an unstoppable WMD. In ME2 he's Rambo with magical powers and a Shotgun. Nothing is more satisfying than charging into groups of enemies and coming out victorious. Anyone else killed the Geth Colossus in melee range as a Vanguard? If so, then you know that it's the most satisfying thing in this game BY FAR.

I like the way the Sentinel looks though so I'm probably going to give it a shot once I finish my (6th? 7th?) playthrough. Slap a Shotgun on that guy and go to town... it's going to be fun.

they are all the same anyways i dont know why we need classes anyways.

each class has a debuff, a CC and most likely a ammo power. which ever one you take doesnt matter becaseu they all do that same thing anyways. even adding bonus abilities and weapons every class gets even more similar to one another.

id like to see no classes in ME3. just give me options and let me choose how i create my shepard, not some goofy developer who thinks the sentinel would be awesome with throw instead of lift.

whats the point of classes anyways?

Every class in ME2 is totally different. Sure you can play Adept like a gimped Soldier, OR you can actually use right powers at the right time and play like an Adept. How can you compare for example Vanguard and Engineer? Totally different playstyle. Are you serious, or just trolling?

the problem is that in ME1 adept players choose to spam singularity while in ME2 adept players are forced to spam singularity. the key words there are choose and forced.  theres no reason whatsoever to use any abilty other then singularity in ME2 whether theyre by a ledge or not. just my opinion tho.i hate the rock papaers scissors aspect of ME2. its to frustrating to even talk about.

in all actuallity the classes are just over emphasized examples of what they were in ME1.

you can even go as far as saying each class is just a gimped seperate class........

its
your own opinion that adepts are "fun" on insanity, becaseu im my mind
adepts are, for lack of a better word, dumb on insanity. eahts the point
of leveling up if what im leveling up does absolutely nothing.
hopefully bioware *fixes* difficulty settings for ME2 instead of adding
on a layer of "poop" thats allows your awesomely powered adept to become
a SMG spammer. thats the adept in a nut shell, SMG spammer or
singularity/warp spammer. every class on insanity that isnt a soldier,
is essentially just a gimped soldier.

bioware ****ed up.

I'm pretty sure Soldier is just a gimped Sentinel.

......like the sentinel being a gimped soldier as well. whats the difference in being forced to play a soldier with slam instead of a sentinel with AP ammo? why not just let me choose what shepard is not some random developer???

Infiltrator and Sentinel. I haven't played as the other ones. But I loved all the slow-mo head shots as an infiltrator. Made me feel like a real soldier. And biotic abilities with the ability to fight? That makes sentinels rock!
