I have a 360 plugged into my TV....and that's all I can do with it. I don't have any fancy cords or anything like that...I really want to try DLC......I tossed out a bunch of extra stuff like the headset, etc... figured I didn't need it

what do I need to do to get Xbox Live? I want to try DLC like Zaaed....but does it cost money? I don't have a lot to buy extra parts to make my 360 go online....

All you need is a router and cable, or a 360 wireless adapter.

look at the back of your 360... you'll see that there is a port that looks exactly like the port on the back of your PC that you plug the internet cable into... put 2 and 2 together... same port, obviously same cable. then all you need is a credit card for a subscription which can cost you up to about $50 for a year, which is the best price option. then you redeme the cerberus network code on this website and if you preordered the game the code that came with that pre order. once you have an xbox live account go into mass effect log into xbox live then i believe you hit "Y" and link your gamertag to your bioware social network account and you have access to the cerberus network DLC and the preorder if you have it. the rest of the DLC you have to pay for which will cost you about $27 unless i lost count of the total price

The network cable should be a standard CAT-5, if you threw it away just buy another one and plug it into the same device your PC is connected to.

Dunno about the wireless adapter, but I assume it needs a wireless network already set up in your place (which you probably don't if you're asking about it). I personally wouldn't recommend wireless for gaming anyway.

You only need to pay a subscription fee if you're going to play on-line multiplayer games. It's free to create an Xbox Live Silver account and that is all you need to access Xbox Live to download updates and purchase dlc:s and Live Arcade titles.

Ah ok. I don't do online multiplayer......

I do have a wireless router for my laptop.....so the 360 thing would feed off the router's signal, I assume??

Well, the cable should be much cheaper. Just go to any computer-related store and ask for Ethernet CAT-5 cable. CAT-5 stands for Category 5 (not that they should ask).

Though I suppose there's a question of what you would plug it into. Your wireless router may have some Ethernet ports on it (they look just like phone jack, except wider). If not, you could temporarily disconnect the router and connect the Xbox directly to the modem (you won't even need to buy another cable for that). Well, unless the modem built into the router (but then it should probably have some Ethernet ports on it).

What content do Silver members not have access to? I thought it was only multiplayer related dlc and games, which you have no use for anyway if you're not a Gold subscriber.
