I don't really have a technical problem, persay (spelling), but quite a big one nonetheless. Anyway, to the point. My 1 year old Norwegian Elkhound destroyed my copy of Mass Effect 1, and I can't find a retailer, or website that sells it. I live in the Cattanooga, Tennessee area, so to anyone that lives around here, please help

I have already checked:

                   Both Best Buys
                   Mckay's
                   all of the Game Stops
And pretty much all of the other privately owned stores around town-most of which are getting rid of all their computer games.

I have not checked the malls, I don't own any other gaming system, and I don't plan on buying one just to play ME1 again.

Please Help!!!Image IPB

Not that its much help to you, but the stores in Oz have craploads of copies.

You could always buy & download from EA online store, unless you definately want a hard copy.

If you still have the CD key for proof of purchase, you might even be able to download a digital copy for free/cheap.

Steam is your best solution, if you don't mind having a digital copy (that you can download forever and as many times as you need, so no worries about DRM there).

If you really need a disc, just order it from Amazon. As of this posting they have plenty of both the pc and xbox 360 version.

You have internet access, so the obvious solution if you can't find it in a local store is to buy it online. Either order it from an online store, like Amazon or the Gamestop website, or download it through the EA online store or a third-party download provider like Steam, Impulse, or Direct2Drive. Game downloads have the advantage of being instant- you only have to wait an hour or so for the download to complete rather than several days for an order to arrive.

Before you try downloads, though, you should make sure that your save files work with them. You should probably backup your saved games into a separate folder, uninstall Mass Effect, then download and install a digital version. Once that is done, put the saved games back into the game. I'm not sure where the saved game files are located, though.

They are located in My Documents\\Bioware\\Mass Effect\\Save. Saves are compatible with every version, as far as I know.

The PC version doesn't need disc to play but you can install it on only five computers. The Xbox version needs the disc to play if you haven't installed it.

Well, first of all, for future reference, my internet is crappy dial-up, but I found one anyway thanks.

Now there's another problem, it says that I need the computer it's on to be conected to the internet so I can get "confirmation of ownership," or something like that. Now, that wouldn't be a problem, except that ALL of my family's personal info is on there, and there's no way I'm going to risk that being stolen. Is there a way around this?

Ha, now I sound like that one salarian on Illium!

Well, when it comes to the internet, I'm a bit of a coward.

FYI- it isn't the product key, or maybe my computer's retarded and thinks it is.

Look, I just want a way around it.
