It's difficult to deny the intrinsic value of both quality craftsmanship and an enthusiastic community which enhances a product long after the company withdraws its support. HotU is just one example of this excellence.
Your head may get turned yet a bit more when you begin exploring the vast FREE custom content available at the NWN Vault and the inventive, addictive PWs in the realm.
Welcome back to the fold!

I've played HotU so many times that I can't remember how many times.

Yeah just proves that realistic graphics don't make a game.
Usually, all the new games got going for them these days is the graphics. Everything else is an after-thought.

I have seen and played too many games with good graphics that were not very fun to play, or quickly lost my interest. Usually if a game has great graphics it seems like that was where all the focus was put instead of other more fun aspects of the game. I have played NWN (and the expansions) just about since they came out and I still have a lot of fun with them. Plus really the graphics are not bad at all, but maybe I am just getting old. lol

I've started playing HotU through for the first time, and I am also enjoying it. I especially appreciate all the henchie banter and voice acting, since it invokes Baldur's Gate, one of my favorite games ever.
The insider jokes from Tomi referring to the OC made me feel all warm and fuzzy, since I played the OC with him, and the Avariel I just met are giving me a warm-fuzzy nostalgic feeling to play with Aerie again in BG.
Add me to the "Story and Characterization over Graphics" market.

Same thing here, recently my main gaming computer had the motherboard fail so I had to piece together an older Pentium 4 system with an AGP graphics card, so NWN2 and anything else that is "new" won't run on the old system mostly because of the slow 128MB display card.
NWN however runs quite well and it really does amaze me every time I reinstall this great game that it is pretty much the most timeless and one of the top RPG's of all time. I really do think that along with Baldur's Gate, NWN made Bioware one of the top game developers there is in the gaming industry. Just fantastic stuff !
