For a given value of "good."
Everything is better with unicorns. Everything.

I see thanks for correcting my foolishness. How could I think adding unicorn Alistairs to the thread would be a bad thing what a fool I am.
I am glad you see the error of your ways.

About the literal leashes that the Mages are kept on.
Are they similar to the a'adam(sp) that appears in the Wheel of Time Series? Where someone of little magical ability, and control someone of great magical ability through a collar around the great's neck and then a wrist band around the little's wrist?
Where they can put pain, and other emotions into the controlled through the leash? Also at the same time if user tries to remove the leash while wearing it, their hand knots up and they physically can not remove it.
EDIT: On a side question, how do female Quanri really view other races? Are there roles that take them outside of Par Vollon? Would their be a possible female Quanri romance planned in the works?
Was thinking about that myself, te similarities are there, but given the qunari distaste for magi i expect the leash is a simple leash held by a big bloke carrying a large sword. possible the mages are kept in line through drugs similar to the chantry and the lyrium addicted templars.

I remember Sten saying Qunari Mages had they're tongues cut off to prevent any unnecessary evil spells being performed.
I remember Sten saying they had their tongues cut off, but not why. Mary Kirby, knower of all things qunari, told us that they have their tongues cut off to prevent them from influence people if they become abominations.

I also seem to remember him possibly saying hands can get cut off too. But maybe I'm just mixing it up with something else?
Did you play Leliana's Song? They mention cutting off hands in there.

Still, having a female qunari teammate (regardless of class) would be pretty awesome.

While I have nothing to add to the wondrous unicorn discussion going on, I must say it is rather ironic that, according to the concept art, qunari have the only females that actually look capable of fighting, yet they're the only ones denied a warrior profession within their society. Alas.
Well it makes some sense, maybe, if you look at it relative to their society, to their race. If the people in the concept art can be taken as representative of the general population, the qunari seem to have the greatest degree of 'sexual dimorphism' of the different races-- the male qunari is pretty huge compared to the female. So it would make sense for them to put the men in fighting roles, if they are to have a society which places people into roles based on their 'natural aptitudes' in such a manner.

You guys need to write a Dragon Age Encyclopedia. They made one for Halo that was very cool. Filling it with cool artwork never hurts!

*giggling helplessly* God, I already loved Sten, but this description of him is just priceless. Thank you!Mary Kirby wrote...
Sten views the Warden as if he or she were some sort of mythical creature, possibly a unicorn. The Warden is a complete and utter fluke -- a competent, honorable person (when Qunari generally consider unenlightened foreigners as things), produced by one-in-a-million chance in a miserable, degenerate, corrupt, self-destructive, chaotic cesspool. Whatever the Warden happens to be --female, male, human, elf, dwarf, mage, etc. -- is sort of irrelevant because the Warden is already being considered by Sten as some sort of ambulatory pair of pants or talking horse.
Sten is seriously one of the best characters ever. I missed him on my first playthrough, but after I actually met him he was always recruited and often in my party. Can't wait to meet more qunari in DA2; I actually like the horns and such.

:regrows: Thanks to Mary & DG for all the info on the Qun... I was thinking... since the Qunari don't identify themselves by name but by title, what would the new Qunari character (and hopefully LI) identify herself with?? Curiouser and curiouser... And fyi, I said "herself" because the the concept art for the female Qunari appears to have gained more fangirls/fanboys than Sten of the Beresaad himself.

Does a Tal'Vashoth pick up a new name or do they keep the job title they had before
I'd like to see them pick their own name as a sign of seperation from the whole idea of the Qun, adults picking their own name always gives me the suggestion of people describing their wishes and beliefs better than one ascribed to them at birth.
However this idea is negated by the fact that I would probably call myself Optimus Destructo Augustus
