I know this quest is somewhere in the circle of magic quest line, when does it become avilable? Before or after you do the dream portion of the quest line?

its a quest for a two handed sword

I must have missed it because I never got that quest. Pretty sure I turned that place upside down for loot.

Did you have to ally yourself with the templars to get that quest? I always save the mages.

I havn't got the quest yet, thats what I wanted to know, I read in another post it was suppose to be somewhere in there, and I am about half way through the dream portion.

In the mage tower after you find all the apprentice notes you should see a quest update saying there was a loud rumbling. The quest is Watchguard of the Reaching btw. The location of Yusaris is all the way back where you first got Wynne. Remember there was a locked door that led downstairs? Click that, you will fight a demon. Kill it, and enjoy Yusaris.

EDIT: Corretion, after finding all the notes, you then need to activate the proper statues in order. Earlier there was a room with 3 statues, you need to activate the bowl, followed by the sword up, and then sword down, then further in you will find another statue, click that, and THEN you should hear the rumbling.

I think the Yusaris quest was the summoning ritual that starts in the common chamber.
