Isn't it weird though that he claims he's your squad mate and Second in Command, when in fact, he and everyone else is should think you're dead?

Well, yeah, it's weird, but then Conrad's crazy and really, really stupid. That he thought using that story was a good idea isn't surprising.  Plus, it makes the fact that the Asari who owns the bar fell for it even funnier. If she didn't already hate him, she and Conrad would be perfect for each other.

Someone hacked the files a while back and it turns out if you were paragon to him all that would happen is him sending an email to the Normandy thanking you for setting him straight. Its just that when you import a save file it recognizes it as you being both renegade and paragon which is why you get him acting like a wannabe badass.

As far as I'm concerned this is pure urban legend.  I've no idea who this someone is, and neither, it seems, does anybody else.  May as well say "Well, a friend of my friend heard..."  That and, if they hacked the files and found this letter, where's the text?  I've done searches here and elsewhere, and all I ever find is someone repeating this story.  In any case, if the letter even exists, for all we know it may be intended to show up after setting him straight in this game.  I.e, another, separate Conrad bug.

Woah, cool! Wanted to hear this!

Freelancing as a bartender would be awesome... with Aethrya and Garrus collecting and washing the glasses. :D

The only reason I want to see Verner in ME3 is in the hopes in Shep or a squad mate to permanently remove him from his life. Nothing is worse than an annoying die-hard fan that can't control him/her self.

And?  Anyone can edit the wiki, and most of the time no one bothers to provide sources for the trivia section.  Like, oh, the one on the Conrad Verner entry. You know: just to pick an example at random....

Anyway, I'm pretty sure it's state.sav that has the plot flags. The good news is, it's a tiny file.  The bad news is, there's basically zero readable text in it.  Player.sav, on the other hand does have plenty of readable text, and is where the head morph data, the party inventory, current level and skills, the quick use slots, etc. are stored. The entire file appears to be devoted to that stuff.

Thanks for the info and the extracted residual audio, both. :)

Or the whole '21st dog tag on the Normandy DLC' legend that everyone was flipping out over.

Back on topic, does using Gibbed's to change the flags and import it as a NG+ work? I've had some issues with it, namely with Tali, the Geth data from ME1, and the 'I can prove it's me.' dialogue option on Freedom's Progress.

At any rate, thanks for uploading the sound files! If you'll excuse me, I need to go check out that damn bar.

This is freaking awesome. I was always like "wtf, did I stick a gun in his face? I'm pretty sure I didn't..."

LOVE the squadmate responses as well, especially Legion, Garrus, Jack and Grunt.

Thing is, even if it is a Mass Effect 1 glitch, they could still fix it. I mean, the game itself remembers correctly what you did - I explictly remember my Assignments listing for "The Fan" stating a Paragon outcome. So surely it'd be simple enough to transfer that to whatever section of the save is read by the Importer? And if it's the Importer going wrong, again, shouldn't be that hard a fix.

But wait, that would involve real effort spent on something you're not paying for, and admitting fault. So pretty much never going to happen. Cool to hear the audio though, thanks man.

You know, this wouldn't be as big a deal but the fact is BW pointed out the Conrad arc as the leading example of sidequest decisions carrying over through the games during marketing. And they managed to screw it up. Of all the decisions carrying over, they messed up the one they advertise; you'd think they'd check it first?

I've done a quest flag fix on Conrad's treatment with SaveEdit. Once I finish my current play-thru, I'm gonna do a New Game Plus and see if it works.

Basically, the problem is that either Mass Effect 1 incorrectly sets the flags or the save importer improperly reads the flags, so the results are that you both charmed AND intimidated him. And it seems that the conditionals reads for the Intimidate result first.

We need to be able to tell ****s that we are Spectres...or used to be, whatever case. That **** slaps me and threatens to arrest me, I think I should be able to put my gun in her face and put her in her damn PLACE!

That said, great find OP.

Just in case No one has seen all the other stuff on Conrad in these forums, I'll say it here too.

There is No glitch or bug, the whole rewrite or whatever at the bar was done on purpose. Just because the O.P. found files doesn't mean Bioware has to keep them in game. They appearantly changed their minds for whatever reason and went with the lame version. Still, I managed to understand that Conrad IS an idiot. And has gotten himself into trouble.

So, here i will explain it for everyone else who didn't catch on.

Conrad is trying to get deed to the bar

Conrad is trying to use intimidation on bartender

Conrad stops in mid sentence when Shep walks up, and acknowledges him/her

(this doesn't mean that Shepard shoves gun in Conrads face in ME1)

Conrad then continues acting in front of the bartender.

(you can tell for a sec that he was caught off guard by Shep, and he realizes that the

bartender is still there)

Shep then shoots Conrad on the foot ( well that is what i chose anyway )

Also the game editor, flag check theory is pointless, it doesn't change anything of Conrad.

Most likely because Conrad is supose to be a moron

except that Conrad very simply states that Shepard pulled a gun on him and the game offers no "what? are you delusional?" response. even if you go with the grasping-at-straws theory that he's just so insane he thinks you pulled a gun even if you played paragon, it still doesn't fit since you can't argue the point. I find it hard to believe BioWare would do something so stupid on purpose
