Someone may already have mentioned this, but If I understand this right, then the problem is Verner being flagged both as charmed and as intimidated if you deal with him Paragon style in ME1?

If so, does the same happen if you do the Renegade thing (pull the gun on him)?

If not, then a Renegade Verner would only be flagged intimidated, while a Paragon Verner would be flagged both, so the solution would be to patch the game so that the charmed choice is prioritized over the intimidated choice instead of the opposite, since the only way both can be flagged simultaneously is if you went Paragon on him.

Or I could be dead wrong...

OK, here's the deal: yes, no matter what you do in ME1, once imported, both flags are set in the ME2 savegame.  Where the problem is introduced, no one really knows.  Could be ME1's fault, could be the import tool's fault.

If you use the save editor and uncheck the Renegade flag, and then import that save, Conrad still shows up and still talks about having the gun shoved in his face.  If you uncheck the Paragon flag, and then import that, he won't appear at all.  I.e., the game totally ignores the Renegade flag. It may as well not even exist.

I want a patch for this and if possible a patch or dlc with dialogue wheel for Zaeed and Kasumi and Kasumi as LI.

That are my demands and each day none of these are answered Conrad Verner will be shot in the foot.

Damn, I'd pay for seeing Shepard's face at that moment.

That was my first thought as well. Good thing Shep's got that Heavy Skin Weave, eh.

Thanks for this, didymos! Fascinating stuff. :)

it's kind of sad that BioWare still haven't even acknowledged that this IS an issue yet alone fixed it

It amazes me that most people seem to forget that even a paragon Shepard pulls his/her gun on Conrad...of course it is at his request and for a picture...but it always seemed odd to me that you it appears that Shepard points the gun directly at Conrad...I guess we now know why - they were setting us up this whole time for waht Conrad would say in ME 2!

Ah-ha! So I wasn't the only person whose first impression of Conrad was that he was going to blackmail you. When his intentions turned out to be much sillier, I felt paranoid and guilty. Not so guilty after finding him in Eternity, though.

What I find funny is that long before ME2 came out, one of the first concequences BW told us about was Conrad. They said there would be differences in his behaviour in ME2, according to how you treated him in ME1. I remeber it being discussed in the forums back in early 2009. And after all that he is the one guy who isn't implemented properly, haha.

Well, it would be nice to get a patch but if the problem originates in the ME1 saves, BW might have realized it during development and not have bothered to implement him correctly because they knew hardly anyone outside the very hardcore community would go as far as to edit their ME1 saves to fix the problem or replay the first game to get a proper (patched) save. In that case, I guess we'll never see a patch and poor Conrad keeps taking a bullet for all eternity. *end of sad story* :(

Yet another perfectly good opportunity lost on BioWare's part. If they did go back and release a patch that fixes a lot of these choice glitches there will be a ton of praise.

Yeah, no kidding. I mean, they have the audio recorded, so it's not like they'd have to pay all of the voice actors to come back in for a recording session.

Even if they had a reason for not tailoring the ME2 Conrad encounter to fit the imported save, they could have at least gone with the dialog that would have fit with either ME1 encounter, and not the one that only sounds right if you really DID shove a gun in his face. /facepalm

actually the Asari Consort, the drugged hostage mission and a few other things also don't import correctly, so Conrad isn't too alone. which is of course all the more reason to fix these things, especially before ME3

My feeling is this one ain't an easy fix, since it could be rooted in ME1 producing a glitched save file.

Edit: Of course, they could still FORCE it to trigger if the player had some way of telling ME2 that Conrad is remembering events a bit incorrectly.

it'd still be nice of them to at least acknowledge that there is an issue to fix, and preferably let us know if and how it'll effect ME3

It's very easy to make such a mistake, actually - especially if one work by the good old metod: "copy - paste - adapt".. or as it usually turns out: "copy - paste - forget to modify every bit that needs it". :P

What IS surprising is that no playtester commented on it. (..or they did AND it turned out to be a matter of ME1 flagging wrong AND it was regarded a silly thing to have included with Miranda's and Jacob's little questionaire at the beginning... ;)

if he's bugged in ME2 he'll be bugged in ME3 wouldn't he? If ME2 has him flagged as ren then how the hell are you going to get a paragon conrad?
