LOL, Rubbish Hero, I hadn't even noticed "Dragon Age 2: Origin"...

You should, um, correct that...

Tried to find other articles that clarifies this, other's say "sold-in." So you maybe right. Either way, when the head developer says that DAO sold mostly on consoles, I take him at his word.

pc sales were about on par with ps3 sales. combine both consoles and yes consoles sold a lot more than pc.

Indeed. I play games only on my 360, and RPG wise, I enjoyed Dragon Age far more than I did Mass Effect/Mass Effect 2. That's not to say I didn't enjoy those games per say, but I preferred the feel of Dragon Age more. Felt more like an RPG that I could effect rather than a stream-lined game that hid behind some - admittedly rather good - side quests and occasional character conversations.

The romances in ME2, however, made me hesitant to talk to characters due to the Mass Attraction everyone seemed to have towards Shepard.

This, outside of the 360 part. I have all the systems so I play the game that comes on whatever systems.

Mass Effect was an OK game. It took me years after I got it to finally finish it. I'm more either an old school RPG player or turned based.

Shame they couldn't have made the upcoming console versions as good as the PC, rather than hobbling the PC version. Just about everything I've read or seen about DA2 has put me off completely. It sounds more like a cheap cash-in with awful graphics and 'streamlined' dialogue a la Mass Effect than the 'spiritual successor' to Baldur's Gate. If the game is going to be geared towards consoles, I think I'll be saving my money for Witcher 2. Shame, I thought Bioware had finally remembered what made their games great in the first place.

I use my PC for the Sims, the PS3 for the occasional game that strikes my interest, and the 360 for most... everything. The original XBox was my first ever gaming console, so that may be why.

I find that the PC games tend to have more enthralling stories, though, so it's a shame that DA2 is going to take more from the console.

I've tried to limit my 360 use because it's trying to die. I want to make sure it at least survives for Fable 3. I just started really playing with my PS3 since I brought Trinity Universe. It's bringing out my "Gotta Collect 'Em All" obsession again. My PC is my main base of operations. I'm at the computer all day for work and it's almost like an extension of me at this point. Even when I'm playing on one of the consoles, I'm still at my laptop plucking away.

I do think a lot of PC games have stellar stories. This isn't anything against consoles but it seems some of the stories we are presented with are lame, rehashes or neutered. Not much has come out on the current systems that I would say were "story" changers to me.

What about all the people like me -- who played it on a console but wished they could have played it on a PC?

Go to indie RPGs if you are not concerned for graphics. there are demos for all Spiderweb soft games I think.

I do must of my gaming on consoles these days. Even knowing DA:O was better on the PC. Mostly because I like sitting on the couch. However, I really hope they don't do to DA what they did to ME2. I loved the game, but it was so streamlined, it was almost just about the story and not about the rpg. Still fun, but missing some elements of customization.

As much as I like consoles, I appreciate that games can be designed more complex on PC and then ported to the console. While designing for the console first is nice in that you get an optimized game and control scheme for those platforms, you can end up over streamlining as in ME2.

I'm sure DA2 will be a good game with a nice narrative, but starting to sound a little....I don't know, "dumbed down," maybe. More accessible perhaps? Might be great for sales, but maybe not so much for fans.

Indeed, I was PC gaming up until NWN2, then things happened and Iwas restricted to console gaming.

I loved BioWare's games on PC and I'm delighted I can still experience them on console, circumstances under which I could play on PC would be good.

Another user here said the same thing. I might download the demo for Avenum 6 to see how it plays.

Ya know, I paid (I think) 800 euros for my PC two years ago, and it handles Crysis with relative ease. I don't play with AA at all, or with anisotropic higher than 2x.

Nothing has challenged my PC since.

EDIT

Oh, and I play every game with max settings, minus the above stated, but those I override from the display controls (ATi Catalyst), or whatever is your equivalent.

My 360 I bought second hand, the PC was sold to me at cost by a friend mainly for college/work, and the PS3 was bought as a blu-ray player for the family, so it came out of the households' funds. So, truthfully, I don't have as much money in my pockets as it sounds.

I still prefer my loud, old-angry-man-with-a-cane 360 as opposed to the other gaming systems. Comfort zone, really. Besides, I like the way DAO plays on it.

Not much of an argument.
You might as well have typed "Woh Bioware!"

To be fair, it's impossible to come up with an 'original' storyline. There's only so many, and they're all rehashed. What makes a story good isn't the originality, rather how it's executed. How many times have there been unsuspecting heroes rising up to strike down evil? Or an anti-hero reluctantly standing for what's right?

I consider DAO a good game because it made me feel like it was a new story, and provided me with the ability to connect with the PC and NPCs.

Seriously, what is the problem of waiting for the game to be released, then see how the game is like?

If we can still move the camera along the xyz axis rather than turning it around there is hope. Otherwise... how do console players manage with area spells? Casting them to avoid FF needed to move the camera a lot. Didn´t use them much until I realized of that.
