I always thought that Asari don't have sex in the way that we think of it. They do that mind meld thing and exchange genetic information that way, not through the transmission of fluids.

One of the main characters in the new book mentions how it'll be next to impossible to go back to human girls after having mindblowing sex + mindmelding with his Asari girlfriend.

So I guess the mindmeld is what others like most about the Asari, in addition to their abilities to appear more attractive to other species.

Plus, when you think about it, getting lots of alien hubbies (or wivies) does em well- they outlive them, enjoy their financial support, maybe get a nice big inheritance bonus and all children produced are Asari while the hubby (or wifey) is removed from their species gene pool. I guess they see attraction primarily in the mind but it's at least somewhat physical since Aria has thong-clad Asari shaking their asses almost right next to her.

You know, maybe Krogan are thought of as like the bad boys of the universe by some Asari. Huge penises, strong bodies, great stamina and "bad boys."  When the Asari girlfriend talked about her fetish for Krogan guys it reminded me of how some girls might describe a fetish for certain other guys.

Most people have already mentioned what I would have said about Krogans. They're the 'bad boys' of the ME universe; strong, tough, aggressive and possessed of unbelievable resilience and endurance. They are also perhaps the only race that can (potentially) live for as long as Asari, so if an Asari was seeking a true 'life partner' and wasn't willing to put herself through the stigma of bonding with another Asari, then a Krogan is the only other available option.

Love transcends all barriers. Maybe Asari considering their seeming rule of having relationships outside of species have developed an attraction to personality traits instead of looks and hence can find Krogan attractive for that reason.

Plus, a Krogan can live almost as long as an Asari so it's better for a long term relationship. Maybe some Asari just happen to love their Krogan suitors, like the two on Illium.



Still... I must ask the board here, why is the conversation now about krogan penises? I really, really didn't need to have that thought lurking in my subconscious like a hideous beast of the nether.

Asari/Asari pairings were fine back in the old days, but now they are viewed by most sort of the way incest is viewed on earth today: Viable, but highly frowned on. Samara mentions in a conversation that Ardat-Yakshi can only come from pairings like that, and that may be a reason for the stigma behind them.

I was going to make a joke about Krogan's being well hung and Asari's liking rough sex but I'm going to try and take the high road and atempt to give a mature answer instead.

The Asari are a species that can live up to and well past a 1000 years. During that time period most will take many mates, maybe the Asari are genetically predisposed to to mate with as many different species as possible in order to 'strengthen' the Asari gene pool, I do recall Liara saying in ME1 that the main reason why pure breed Asari are frowned upon are because they don't gain anything extra  thier 'fathers' because the 'father' is another Asari. Maybe alot of Asari think that if they mate with Krogan's thier offspring will be physically stronger, more resistant to physical damage and/or better at combat.

Another thing to concider is that Krogan's also live for along time. Maybe some Asari like the idea of spending the rest of thier lives with 1 mate instead of watching all thie rlover's grow old and die.

Last but not least, the Asari seem to pass through a very wild stage when they are very young. Alot of them either become mercs or dancers in strip clubs ( not to mention various other jobs in the sex industry ). Maybe some Asari just like Krogans because they represent the dangerous bad boys of the ME Universe.

I called it, it's because they have huge penises. (which this confirms)  And apparently it's not just Asari with Krogan-fever either!
