Im not saying they shouldnt do something about it. We shouldnt need to come up with fixes for their mess. I was just posting that for anyone that needs to connect once for something to see if that would help them.

I'll see what i can do tyler. if it works for me I'll post.

I been trying to get anyone from Bioware to give us some help with no luck so far. I don't know if they will ever let us know here.

Edit: My first try when I removed and re-added has worked for me. DA2. So far anyway.

Edit 2: Nope it doesn't work again. I guess my first try was luck? That just shows I'm still Off and On.

Did you try them at different times? Cause i noticed if I left my xbox on when it worked, come back and have it not work delete and re-add it wouldnt work with the xbox never being restarted. I think most of the blame should go towards EA not really bioware since they have no control over the servers. Gonna have myself for getting ME3, DA3 when it comes out cause I know this crap is just gonna keep going on.

This has been happening on and off ever since i bought the game. The time thing wasn't the problem. I have to test my internet connection (which signs me out of x-box live) for it to work again.

This just happened to me. Previously I had had a few problems with the game not connecting to the dragon age servers, but I just pressed Y and tried again and it worked, or I played without it. But I never got the blank screen (no menu options) until today.

I cannot play completely offline however, since all of my saved games (5 characters, 30 saves per, along with awakening saves, golems saves, and witch hunt saves) are connected to my xbox live account. So playing completely offline is not possible. And it seems when I'm online I cannot stop DAO from attempting to connect (if I can, please tell me how), and that attempt seems to be triggering the no menu options.

Luckily, it came back and connected again after a few hours. But if it doesn't, and the button mashing thing doesn't work to pop back the menu, I would lose access to all my characters.

If there are servers issues, then maybe they should give an option to not even attempt to connect? I have the Ultimate Edition so all my DLC is on a disc and I really would not have to connect to EA.

@ penarddun what you need to do if the menu is not showing up after a fail connect on DAO is just wait 3-5 min and it should come back.

Penarddun, all saves, no matter the game, are technically connected to your XBox Live account as you have to use a Gamertag to access anything. That doesn't explain the problem you are having though which seems a bit more than just wanting (yes, wanting not needing) to connect to the servers.

Gaming offline 100% should be possible, I do it all the time with DAO and ME2.

Well I just got this xbox in May (it's my first gaming console), I usually play games on a PC. So there may be a setting inside to make my gamertag into a non-live account. Or possibly a shut off switch? Turning off the wifi entirely? I will look for those things. It could just be my unfamiliarity with the xbox system, but thus far I haven't found a way to make my gamertag not "live."

As far as I knew I thought the gamertag had to be online if it was set up that way, but again, I have little experience with gaming consoles, so I will search for the solution via the xbox manual.

No. You don't have to be online to use the Gamertag; it can be used offline as well. Being always connected means that any unlocked achievements will be automatically uploaded to the system. Whereas if you unlock achievements offline, the system will be updated next time you connect to it. (DA2 is probably a good illustration of such a system on PC.)

You can disconnect from Live I believe, but that's not the same as disconnecting or signing out of your Gamertag. Easiest way would be to remove the connection before logging into your Gamertag I think.

I can't help but think something else is wrong with your set up though as it shouldn't work the way you are describing.

Which part is working oddly?

If it helps, I have the xbox 360 S, 250 GB harddrive. And I am only able to connect via wifi, because it's too far away from anything else to run a wire to it, if that makes a difference.

That you state you can't play completely offline, Perarddun. That's what I find odd and makes me think something is wrong. It should be possible for games like DAO and ME to be played offline completely (i.e., 100%); as I stated earlier I play offline all the time. That you can't seems wrong to me. Of course if you're playing a multiplayer like some FPS over XBox Live then it goes without saying that you need to be connected to do so.

It is not a problem if you are always connected though, so you needn't worry unless you lose internet access for whatever reason. If you do, then you can't play offline rendering the game almost useless; that just shouldn't be how things work.

Ditto above. The DA servers have been hit and miss, for me, the last three months. I get the message saying it can't connect and the screen will sit on the Dragon Age opening screen for a few seconds before the game menu comes up. I've never not been able to play the game off line.

I do have the Ultimate Edition, so I don't have issues with being unable to access DLC offline, though I understand some do without that extra disc.

Been having the same issue as Penarddun, its gotten alot worse in the last month or two. New Xbox maybe a month old. Just leaves me at the title screen no menus can't do Jack on DAO no matter how long I let it sit. DA II won't connect at times either but I still get the the menu and just play offline. It's just extremely furstrating because all of my DAO characters are on my Live account. One thing I have noticed is that it seems to be much worse at night, Central Time zone. Any new suggestions would be appreciated, I think I've tried everything mentioned in this thread already.

I think that's all the suggestions that have been available across the board (all of them) concerning connection to the servers. It isn't something we as end users can do anything about.

It's best to identify a way so that connection isn't required. And technically all save games are linked to a Gamertag, but the save games are not online on some server: they should be on your HDD or flash drive.

I was having the same problem: after receiving the notification about the EA servers no menus appeared which made me unable to play the game even in offline.
I waited a bit and sure enough the menus appeared...you're offline but you're able to play the game. I even defeated the Harvester in Hard for the first time!

I haven't tried DAO in a while, but I have been seeing the "cannot connect" message on the x360 for DA2 quite often. I just exit to the dashboard, and go back into the game and it works. Not sure why, but it works for me.

You guys could try restarting your router/modem and then try to connect to the server, I also find it odd that you cant play your game on the xbox 360 offline, I think the pc version had to be connected but not xbox 360.

The 360 version doesn't need to be connected to the servers to play; a point I have made several times over different threads. Though no-one yet has sought to seek out why.

The modem could be one variable, though in general the issue tends to point to the servers themselves.

When should we expect this issue to be resolved? The servers have been down for over a day now, and because I need to log in to verify my DLC, I can't play the game.

It is possible to use dlc offline. Is there any particular reason you are unable to? (I take it that being offline is much the same as being unable to connect to the servers.) I play offline with all my purchased dlcs without problems.

It says most of my DLC is corrupt if I don't connect to the servers.

First question I would ask is whether you have changed 360s recently. Corrupt dlcs tend to indicate that there's a mismatch of sorts between the different systems in play which can be corrected.

If bakasama fix doesnt work for the dlc issue you could try and delete them and re download to see if that fixes it. But I would do that as a last resort, If you switched xbox make sure you transfer the license so you can download it on the new xbox free. Otherwise you will need to hook up the old xbox download to that and swap the file to the new one. penarddun you may need to delete the connectiong all together to prevent it from going online. If you need instructions on how to do that just reply and ill give step by step.
