I'm perplexed.

Each time I click on my character the game stutters for half a second before loading his UI and selection sound. I go into the inventory which takes around two seconds to bring up and try playing around with my paper doll. My weapons all take roughly four seconds to equip/unequip and the same can be said for any other equipped items/artifacts.
Strangely, if I select my entire party there is no stuttering, no delay on selection sound and if I go into my inventory whilst having the party selected I am free to fluidly mess up my inventory as I please.

This seems to apply only to my main character, an inquisitor using the default human male model.
What's more is that it has only recently become a problem. I uninstalled and reinstalled the game, but I think it's a problem with the save. Another thing worth noting is that the options screen has since taken around five or more seconds to load.

I'm well and truly perplexed.
The BG2Fixpacks, official patches and Unfinished Business mods have been installed.
If anyone could lend me a hand; I'd be appreciative.

Never mind; found the solution.

I moved everything from my desktop to my laptop and everything went fine until I recently installed Kaspersky Internet Security.

Kaspersky is known for being a good Security program, but it does have an impact on low-mid range computers. Shouldn't happen if you have a huge amount of memory and there may be other ways to circumvent the problem besides turning the net off and then closing Kaspersky.

Note that these slowdowns occurred without any form of virus scan in progress.
