So for the first time I am playing a PURE dps spec (Duel Wield) as a warrior instead of dps/utility (2handed templar/champ immune to magic and stuns etc) and I was thinking of going Zerker/Reaver...now I heard some people saying that they die a lot as a Reaver? I am assuming that is because they are playing it incorrectly? I know you purposefully hurt yourself to do more damage but I imagine that you could just heal yourself through a mage or a potion when it got too bad right?
Also I am assuming you take Reaver all all the way to Blood Frenzy as a Pure dps spec?
First time playing as a Reaver a bit of help? Playing it as a Duel wielder

From what I used reaver for, reaver is meant to be a tanking spec and is less useful for non-tanks. I haven't tried reaver as a non-tank but I would think that blood frenzy would be slightly less useful for dsp as the low health isn't that great for damage but for tanking.

I would only take the first two talents as a Reaver; the others aren't that great.

hmmmm so what as a secondary spec? champion? trying to avoid templar this playthrough Im always one lol.

I would probably go with the Zerker/Reaver combination. It seems thematically more appropriate plus some of the weaknesses can be offset a little.
I'd take all 4 levels of Reaver, I wouldn't use the third skill but I would use the other three. Devour is really meant to offset Blood Frenzy, in that your HP gets lower and so you get stronger and eventually cleave your foe in two and then use Devour to replenish some of the HP you lost. I'd probably combo this with some HP regen equipment to offset some of the risk of Blood Frenzy.
With Reaver as your second you'll be forcing enemies to fight an uphill battle against your character, however it does require you to pay some extra attention to your HP and manage your Devour usage. The Aura of Pain Skill /3/ is too little gain for risk, I think you'd spend more time dead or guzzling potions, especially if you're the type to run headfirst into the thick of the enemy's crowd.
A maxed Champion specialization would let you potentially knockdown enemies with War Shout if you were getting too much heat and Rally would let you boost attack and defence. So you round out your stats a little more and can give your and allies and yourself breathing room, if a particularly bad enemy combination has dumped on your health.

Ya I was thinking of giving allistair Champion. Does Rally stack? maybe having two would rock! I did it once but did not notice if it stacked or not.

I don't think it would stack, because, regardless of two characters using it, it's the same skill.

Yeah reaver/champion is a great combo for a dual wielder. Don't overlook frightening appearance either, as it works on almost every enemy in the game

Reaver is more of a tanking spec and Berserker Reaver whiel yes will maximise DPS(ONLY IF YOUR AUTO ATTACKING) will cripple your defenses.
Basicaly you want a duel dagger dex based reaver/zerker who only cares about auto attack.
Run Momentum+Berserk+Blood Thirst+Aura of Pain+Blood Frenzy
You want two 3 slot daggers for elemental damage runes and you want at least 1 point in the skill Poison so you can poison your blades.
Partywise you want two mages, one running fire weapons and the other running frost weapons, you also want both mages set to cast Vulnerability Hex and Affliction Hex on the target of your Berserker/Reaver and too keep him/her healed.
last party member slot is your choice but I suggest either Shale with a max Stone Aura tree(Recomended) or Leilana/Zevran as a Bard with at least 60+ Cun running Song of Courage.
(Note do not have the Mages use Haste or Double haste, Momentum+Blood Thirst puts you at +50% attack speed which is the cap)
I suggest at least 38 Str and everything else into Dex.
This build will allow you to to do more damage auto attacking then anything else possible in game.(Open to correction here)

Why would ReaverCripple my defense? you mean not getting Champion so no Rally? I was planning on giving Allistair Champion so I would have Rally in the group..dont need 2 anyway ...Also Why would it ONLY help AUTO ATTACK DAMAGE? the last talent in the reaver tree lets you more damage regardless of attacks right? So far I am level 9 and have only taken the berzerker spec...what If I want to play full weapons and play STR based DW warrior? get champion? or templar? Although I dont have Duel Weapon Mastery yet...only Duel Weapon Expert since I am not level 12 yet..

First Answer If you go Pure Damage Build for Berserker/Reaver unless you use Daggers your going to be hurting on defense. Your not gonna be pumping Dex high if your using swords or axes right?
Second Answer Rally sucks on a character that has to spam talents but is great on a auto attacker. Rally stacks with itself too but its better to have on another party member then your main.
Third Answer Berserk gives +8 damage to auto attack damage only per hit, Reaver gives +0 to +10 damage to auto attacks only per hit. Blood Frenzy works by each -10% health you are below your max health you gain +1 damage so you need to below 10% health to have +10 damage.
+Weapon Damage from Berserk/Reaver and from Runes does not add to skill damage.
Fourth Answer if you are using duel main hand weapons then you want to spam your skills more then auto attack and doing this your losing the damage from your Specs and Runes.
Play as you see fit im just letting you know what the optimum is, in my previus example you can be hitting for like at least 400-600+ damage a second or two with optimal conditions. This gets even more extreme when moved into awakening and you add the Spirit Warrior Spec and upgrade runes.

thanks darkness. So if I want to play a STR DW warrior whats my second spec? since I want to be spamming talents im guessing not champion...so go the immune to magic route and get templar? its the last option lol.

Well your going the 36 Dex, all other Str Build I assume. Grab Veshialle Axe and Starfang Sword as soon as you can. Though Because Axes calculate damage differant then swords after about 60+ Str switch to Veshialle Mainhand and Star offhand as you will be hitting for a little more since axes calculate 15% more of your str score into damage.
Berserker is still decent enough for the stats the spec gives you like +2 str and the health regen can help if your stacking health regen.
Reaver is only good for Devour and Frightening Appearance. Aura of Pain and Blood Frenzy are almost useless(Aura of pain is useful on a tank)
Templar well is tricky since the abilities UP to the last one arnt very good the last one is great since its a AoE Stun. Plus you can easily get 100% spell immunity but thats not entirly useful unless your playing at hard or nightmare settings.
Champion while being good for any spec Because of Rally and Warcry I dont suggest running Rally all the time but use warcry whenever you can for the debuff+knockdown. Idealy you would want to go in spam your skills and when your at least half or less stamina pop Rally so you dont waste the stamina. Just know it does take alot of stamina to run and keeps eating it unlike several other sustaineds.
each has their uses of course, duel wield really hammers down to what your duel wielding more often then not and if you want defense/versatility (Duel wield dosnt have immunitys like SnS and Twohand does) Generaly Champion/Berserker is great for mainhand duel wielders but requires micromanagment of abilitys. Berserker/Reaver is great for pure DPS dagger builds.
But if you really wanted something unqiue I never see Champion/Templar who are Offensive. (Warcry and Holy Smite spam to lock down guys, this is actualy better with twohanders since they can add two hand sweep for another knockdown)

Why do you think that is? I mean I realize you dont get physicall CC immunity but you still can get magic immunity and great CC with smite and Warcry on top of superior DPS (arguable i know my 2handed War did great DPS).
