Maybe that's their marketing trick. ../../../images/forum/emoticons/devil.png The more you hate them now, the more you'll love them when they prove you wrong.

So far, I'd say it's been a marketing failure.

I think the majority of people paying attention this early are CRPG fans, which are noticably touchy about change and tend to jump to conclusions based on very little information  Once Bioware starts showing rather than telling, the PR will start improving.

since the game has been announced it has been kick in the teeth, after kick in the teeth. almost like bioware went through the forums and made a point of writing down the bits the community loved the most from DA:O and removing them.

i implore you bioware, give us ONE bit of good news. just one, about the new game.

There's been tons of good news already.

A story that isn't based on beating some big, bad, ancient evil.
A voiced protagonist
Flemeth returning (and not confirmed, but seems to be Kate Mulgrew returning as her voice)
Getting to see a new country
Greatly improved companion interaction (i.e., not having to play nice to all of them)
Ability to combine abilities not limited to mages
Nathaniel Howe likely to return
New and improved face morph system rebuilt from scratch
Custom rigs for different races and genders

And that's just for starters.

:o How dare you focus on the positive! Someone get this guy out of here!!!!!

I wish! Hell, I'd settle for a missile silo, so long as it were tastefully decorated.

Oh of course. You guys can afford the services of Marco the Evil Interior Decorator I'm sure, with all the money you get from crushing dreams and kicking puppies and all that. :D

You know there is not as much money in kicking puppies as you would think.

A lot of people are saying that. But I guess when the combat-crowd will get enough attention and come over here in large numbers the forums will be filled with excitement over "kick azz ninja moves" "double death spiral atackz"

I have faith in BioWare.....they know as i know....fans never really know what they want. Another note, this forum represents a very small % of the fans of the game....the hardcore guys. The bigger market want what D2 is delivering.

Nonsense.

The Darkspawn are nowhere near as fabulous as Skeletor.

yes, i always have faith in bioware to make a creatively safe game where they take no risks and do nothing groundbreaking. it can be a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it.

Really? Seriously?

The game doesn't come out for six to eight more months. What reason could you possibly have for wanting to know seemingly everything this early?

How is this game a "marketing failure?" I bet BioWare is laughing their faces off reading some of this stuff. Singularity is a marketing failure. This game is, once again, six to eight months from release. The teaser hasn't even been released yet...

And SirOccam, I totally agree with you. I think the news we have heard has been mostly positive.

bioware's marketing team is the best. "HOT ROD ART" and "FIGHT LIKE A SPARTAN" are the most retarded phrases a dev has used in the history of anything ever to describe their game.

ISTM that they're actually taking some risks with DA2, the flashback structure, the new art style....... Playing it safe would have involved doing it in exactly the same style as DAO.

da 2 is more mainstream than da origins. they're take less risks by making hawke kratos from god of war and making the game more actiony.

I love what the EA Marketing Team comes up with when its obvious that the bosses want something NOAW.

"Something far-reaching is coming for Mass Effect"

I believe EA has a much bigger stake in marketing than BioWare does. And I'm 100% positive that there have been worse phrases.

The rest are either good or bad and until I have more info I wont really know, I dont really know what you mean with "Greatly improved companion interaction (i.e., not having to play nice to all of them)" as to my knowledge you diddnt have to play nice to anyone in your party however certain choices did ****** them off, if you mean the new system is like ME2 where you can say what you like and their approval is gained only by doing their loyalty mission then that is bad.

"Ability to combine abilities not limited to mages", I had a suspicion that they may go down this route in DA2 as this means there is no need for multiple origins as no matter what class you choose (warrior, rouge ect) Hawke would always be sensitive to magic. For the moment I will take it as a good thing as it seems to imply that the class system will be more flexible this time around.

"Custom rigs for different races and genders" not sure what this is but I assume that it means that there will be different body types among species so I guess that is a good thing, however I doubt we will be able to change Hawke's (other than male, female) so I dont really care. However it will be good with more variety in NPC's, however it also cuts both ways as it may be like ME2 where there are only 2 sets of clothing for each party member.

There's just no way to win with you people, is there? You are consciously focusing on one VERY tiny piece of non-news (they're making the game more actiony??) and basing everything on your reaction to that. You don't even know what the term "actiony" refers to. Not having to shuffle around awkwardly before beginning to attack? How is that bad? I'm not even going to bother responding to the Kratos thing...that's just asinine.

it's so ****ing obvious that it should've slapped you across your greasy, cheeto covered face. in one of the early gameplay videos you can barely see a gametester off in the corner playing a devil may cry clone.
