But.... what if, you kill her, and find out that the top asari was planning to kill her because she didn't want to kill the volus and the top asari had to do it instead to fufill the contract???

you dont know.... gambling on the bad end is not a nice way to live.

We do know.  The initiation of an Eclipse mercenary is murder.  If she wears the uniform, she's a killer.  Given that it's a requirement to wear the uniform, I highly doubt that "pretending to shoot" would pass their muster.

Really, I am so disappointed that the only options in this path are the Renegade interrupt and letting her go.

And how is Shepard to know that she would immediately lower it after drawing it?

It's pretty irrelevant whether Shepard knew it or not - he has state-of-the-art shields and armor, he can risk brushing off a bullet (even one with CUTSCENE POWER!!!) and so has no real argument for self-defense even if he didn't spend the next few seconds after beating her to the draw by berating her poor life choices.

And this is one reason why "pure Paragon" is, in my opinion, utterly  stupid. It is not beneath the realm of criminals to pretend to be remorseful or afraid in order to save their own behind or in order to  try to kill you (or other people). Remorse (genuine or not) does not  automatically absolve you of your crimes.

There's this thing called "due process." Sheriff Shepard is not The Law on Ilium. Without the self-defense claim, he has no right to execute her, even if she did earn her stripes by killing a volus the night before.

I want to say, I liked this interupt because Shepard says "You choose wrong Elnora", that doesn't imply he instantly wants to kill her.

In my roleplaying mind, I was expecting "You choose wrong, you will have to pay for it" then arrest her by cuffing her to a pipe or something. However, once she shot me (or tried to), I shot back.

That's why I always do it, whether paragon or renegade, especially after being told countless times "all eclipse commit a murder to earn their uniform".

We have only heard the ritual of entrance from a Volus... who lied to us at the beginning (understandanbly)  smuggled goods he didn't tell the Eclipse how... "effective" they were, and is an overall scum who did not even care about his friend.

Taking his word as proof of the eclipse dealings is not exactly wise... more so since they are after him.

All we know from Eclipse is... they are well equipped and undisciplined.

Now if Detective Anyala had warned me "hey... do not trust the eclipse... from what we can gather, they have to kill someone to get their uniform".

Then yeah, I wouldn't hesitate to shoot her.

So in the end... from w hat I can recall, the only information we have on the inside dealings from the Eclipse is a smuggler/thief/ wanted man by eclipse Volus. Besides him I dont remember anyone else stating how the Eclipse inner workings are.

Like asking a thief, how the mafia boss he stole from works?.. and we are the cop. Isn't there a chance he is lying so I screw up in some way that benefits him?..

Well, then you might as well argue that you have no right to shoot any mercenaries at all - any or all of them could be innocent and only shooting at you because they're scared. And with your state-of-the-art armor and ample supply of medi-gel you can't really claim that their fire is threatening you.

If it's not self-defense to shoot someone who points a gun at you (and actually shoots first), then I'm not sure what is. "I has shields" argument is irrelevant, for one thing there are ammo types that can bypass shields, and any armor has weak spots...

Yeah, to me the issue of the Eclipse armor is irrelevant - pointed a gun at me, I am going to defend myself. I punched the salarian as well.
