This is a continuation of this recent post as well as this older post concerning the merger of the Mass Effect strategy threads with threads concentrating on the discussion of specific Mass Effect characters.

Note: I'm not looking to add signees to this post. Anyone clicking on the first link will see the sort of support that garnered. However, I think this thread could benefit from the addition of some of the comments made by the signees in the other thread. Reasons that covered:

1. The disparate nature of the strategy threads versus the character threads and the concept of merging those two styles into the same forum.
2. The disparate nature of the people who post to strategy threads versus those who post the character threads.
3. Feeling that character threads and fan works are significant enough in volume to warrant their own forum.
4. Frustration in combing through the forum to find strategy-specific discussion, frustration to the point of being disheartening and contributing to their reduced presence on the forum.

Even though there is another thread that was posted to this forum two months ago concerning this issue, I figured a restart might be warranted to work in a less confrontational manner.

From requesting aid of various forum moderators, I am aware that the focus of all these concerns funnel toward one end: Chris Priestly. So I hope he is reading this with an open mind and an understanding of our concerns.

Signed below. It's hard to find and gather gameplay discussion on a forum that was originally not meant for this purpose. The character threads need their own forum.

Again, I am always in for Strategy having it's own forum.

I support this motion. Both strategy and character threads have equal right to be on the forum, but unfortunately when combined on the same board, the smaller threads of each sort tend to get drowned out and pushed to the bottom by the popular threads.

Please consider making a separate board for strategy or characters. It would assist in both forum organization and general discussion.

Bumping.

Character support threads were moved for a reason. They were unwanted in their original locations.

Why would they be welcomed anywhere else?

Completely confusing when it would have taken no effort to put the threads in their own forum to begin with. No need to change any forum's descriptions or headers. No need to act like this was intended from the begining. No need to treat fans like simpletons.

end of rant. (that one's for Stanley Woo's MCP quote that is insulting both to the originating material and in its use's implications)

Guy went berserk on the ME non-spoiler forum posting a chain of a single sick photo(sniper kill), and general consensus is it was because Stanely locked the Tali love thread. I don't know if that was why or if it was just a tween with undies in a wad, but I can pretty much guarantee that Stanely Woo will not have a sense of humor for a little while. I hate to see that kind of junk, but it still doesn't change my mind about thinking the love threads deserve to exist just not in with Strategy.

What really bothers me is they never gave a reason to make that move, not a good one anyway.
They just did it and changed the forum description afterwards. Never explained why they can't or won't open a forum for the fan threads.
You ask for this to change and Stanly Woo shuts you down, saying "this doesn't belong here". Talk about sense of humor.
They whole thing feels completly arbitrary and nonsensical.

Chris Priestly basically gave it a no-go for now, but he never gave a reason why. Didn't outright rule it out, but I simply want to know why. Not enough time? Not convinced they need to be separated? Didn't like the onslaught of PMs or the petition request? (Though if no one had ever said anything, we'd never had gotten anywhere.)

Unity Strategy Forums are up. A place for ME strategy to go until we can get our own place on BSN.

Since this thread is being ignored, let's have another look at why the character threads were moved.

From Stanley "MasterControlProgram" Woo:
http://social.biowar...21&lf=8#2737938

"The character threads were moved due to many requests and a desire to keep the Storyline forum clear of spoilers and some clutter. Many complained that the numerous threads were preventing actual discussion of storyline topics. So we moved them here since character discussion is a part of this forum."

I can only assume that someone at BW is more a fan of irony than logic. Morissette irony.

I do not see what is the problem here, Priestly?

Creating subofrum takes like 1 minute at most. Mass moving character threads is no hard task either. Don't be lazy and do it please. It costs you nothing but very little effort, but it improves the forums a lot.

Honestly, at this point, they can keep the character threads where they are. They don't have to move one damn thread, just create a strategy forum and we can start anew. I can work with that.

Or this. It was incredibly stupid idea to move character threads to strategy forum in the first place. It completly destroyed the atmosphere that used to be there, some great guys left because of it (Average Gatsby comes to mind). The least they can do is make up for it. It would not take more than 2 minutes.

It's a really arbitrary grouping of character discussions and strategy forum. It makes no sense to me, there is no reason why some one looking for a character discussion might happen to interested in a strategy thread or vice versa. I also agree that there is no great need to migrate threads but I can kind of see there might be active threads which are currently on topic but would be off topic and that would create some over head moderating. Overall the ME community forrums would be a lot better off if strategy could have a separate forum.
