Warden's Keep is a nice area, but small. Amazingly small. I was expecting at least two hours of play, I think I got an hour. They really needed to toss in an extra floor.

good thing about dragon age, everything that is released is modable, and thus can be upgraded endlessly by the community.

What if it's the xbox version?

Then you're S.O.L. as far as user-created mods go.

I got it with the digital deluxe edition, i did pay it in the full package sort of.. It took me like one hour to do it , and like many i thought you could reenter and live in, you cant even reenter to finish a quest , but sadly you only get the courtyard a bank a merchant and thats all, not a big deal but i was disapointed and expected to live in and get a few subquests related to it like for the keep in nwn2.

Not really, but compared to other DLC I've seen it's up there with the best.

They really should ahve fattened the keep out a bit, make some extra rooms and have some more challenging fights. I was also disappointed the yellow npc that you choose does not help fight anything apart from each other.

Also disappointed that i got no... "base of operations". I wonder when those dwarves will steal the stuff from my box and run away? They certainly arent going to get any customers up there so i have no idea what they are doing there otherwise...

A trip to the movies with popcorn costs you what, about $10-13 dollars right? So yeah its $7 for about an hours worth of entertainment that at least you get to reenter with additional characters. Can't do that at the movies, I've tried :)

So its not so bad.

I'm tempted to buy it, but my only gripe is that the DLC is practically hard wired in to the game. My achievement list automatically includes it without me actually buying it. Also the dialogue with the dude that turns up at camp without having the DLC installed is a little lame, why even include him if you can't access the DLC? These are fairly dirty tactics IMHO, its not stopping me from buying the DLC but in future don't punish people for not having the money to buy further content releases Bioware!

its not bad for american buyers as 7 dollars is a bit but not a whole lot, I just wonder if Bioware are aware at how much australians are charged on computer games prices, I bought the Collectors Edition of DA:O for 130 Dollars, and with the way the dollar is, thats 121 US. Thats quite alot to pay for one single game. I could buy 2 brand new games in the US and get them shipped here for the same price, After preordering and getting the collectors edition for them to demand and even annoy me ingame with a stupid merchant telling me to buy wardens keep for 9 dollars (which is more than 2 coffee's in Australia) its a bit of a kick in the pants if you know what I mean.

I would say Warden's Keep was worth 3 bucks no doubt. It's short as hell but fairly solid. I wouldn't say it's worth 7 dollars though. Think about it, you pay 60 bucks for this game. An average player will put about 50-60 hours in, maybe a bit less. On average I would say an hour of this game = about 1 dollar. Going on that logic Warden's keep should be 1 dollar, let alone seven.

On the other hand, I would gladly pay three dollars for this... and the price tag is only four dollars more... so I'm being pretty cheap whining over such chump change. Hell, buy one less beer this friday and I break even.

I was saddened that it wasn't a true base of operations as I'd hoped it would have somehow usurped the camp or been a larger camp that you could visit now and again on your travels. However, I enjoyed the DLC and I think it was well worth it despite the regretable miscommunication regarding its purpose. I'm looking forward to building and toying around with things once I've been through the game at least once.

I enjoyed it, although I wish they had made it into an actual base, where you'd get representatives from your allies, possibly through new merchants and such. However, I think people don't actually understand what DLC is yet: It appears most people equal a DLC to an expansion, which is just plain wrong, although the industry certainly doesn't help when they often label them as mini-expansions.

They are more like treats, as described earlier. I don't know what a movie tickets cost in the US but if we have an average of 90 mins per movie and 7 dollars per ticket (for price comparison), regular DAO should cost 280 USD ([60/1.5]*7) if all entertainment value should be considered equal. Much like with going to a movie, not all gaming content will suit you personally. I always advise people to wait for reviews of the DLC if they are having doubts about getting it, since it's the only way to know if it's worth it.

People also tend to forget that compared to producing the regular game, production costs for DLC is rather high. DAO is probably expected to sell hundreds of thousands of copies, whereas a DLC probably only sell to a few percent of the total consumer base. Basically, for every 100 people who buy DAO, only 5-10 or something might buy DLC. And given that the devs refuse to work for free, based on silly notions like "needing money for food and shelter", production will be expensive compared to potential sales. And thus you will be paying 7 dollars for an hour or two of gameplay, which will seem expensive compared to less than a dollar regarding the standard game.

I didn't care for it too much. I was hoping for more indepth DLC like Fallout 3 or Oblivion. Felt more like the kind of stuff we got for Fable 2, which was not very good.

I yearn for the days of expansion packs.....

While $7 isn't a lot of money. I did expect more content out of the whole thing. After restoring the Keep it should have been actually useful. Maybe recruiting new Grey Wardens? Maybe using the guy in there to cook up some new powers or spells? Base of Operations? Etc. Felt like a missed opportunity.

You'll be saving yourself the 7 bucks and the anticlimactic disappointment by just downloading the Party Camp Storage Chest from the Projects link up top.

They didn't even bother to attempt to finish the story. Yep, the Drydens are a "large" family of 3 people that like standing outside in the snow. And Avernus really will contact you about his research... in a few months for another 7 dollars when DA:O box sales die down.

I bought it. I like it. I wish it was more. I should have waited to buy it. I think I could have done without it. But in the end I bought it and good times were had by me.

P.S I agree with everyone that says base of operations is not a good way to describe it. Future DLC that I see I will wait for reviews before buying. Also someone mentioned that there is already a mod released by a dev putting a chest in your camp. Where are you people finding this kind of info. I have been all over the sight and found nothing related to this...

Good potential if they'd actually expand on it. Y'know...make it an actual base of operations...or at least allow you to explore the "cleaned up" insides of the keep. As it stands now, I don't know that it's worth the $7. It's short and it's shallow, and the sad thing is that it could have been a lot more. Even a little more would have been a vast improvement. I think, from now on, I will hesitate to purchase future DLC until I've heard from others about what's included and involved.

WK is nice...though at the end I did find myself thinking "What,...that's it?...Really?" It's nothing a few modders couldn't have put together in a week or so.

For me the storage chest was useless, as I didn't buy Warden's Keep until after I got the ability to wear armor that requires Str 38 (which was taking up huge chunks of my inventory) and bought two backpacks. Even disregarding that, it's of somewhat questionable utility because you have to map travel to Warden's Keep any time you want to take an item out of storage or put it back in storage, and Warden's Keep isn't a zone like the party camp where you can mess with the inventory of your entire party.

Also, it's probably the least interesting "base of operations" in any Bioware game yet, and I'm slightly disappointed to know that letting Avernus continue his research unmolested means I get nothing, whereas killing him and taking his robes gets me his robes. Only slightly, since I'm not really using any mages on this playthrough, but still.

The unique abilities (Warrior here) don't seem terribly useful, either, though I've heard from my Mage-playing friend that the ability to sacrifice HP for mana is amazingly good.

However, all that said? It's a fun little quest, and if you're the sort of person who shells out money for pretty clothes in MMORPGs, the Warden Commander's Armor set is one of my favorites in the entire game. (Now I just need to figure out how to loot King Cailan's armor.)

Here's to future DLC either being less expensive or providing significantly more content.

To be honest, in my opinion WK would been better if they removed the OP blade or actually made it part of an Difficult encounter or boss....I mean being able to get the best 1hander 2 hander without earning it really cheapens the search for items.

Where the hell are you getting 2 lattes for $7? With GST and PST, one latte is $7 here. :/

Realy nice but to short. But ME: Bring down the Sky had the same problem, nice but toooooo short.

I would prefer they take 800 M$ points for the next one and make it the size of Fallout 3: Point Lookout. It was worth each single point (or cent).

The only thing that bothered me with Warden's Keep was the inability to go back inside the Keep once you complete the quests. I enjoyed the story immensely, and felt it was a worthy addition to my game. As I have not installed any mods, the "bank" was incredibly handy as well.

I just think of it this way, what else do I spend $7 on? Dinner, an alcoholic beverage, an overpriced Starbucks latte/frappuccino... I get 20-30 minutes of eating from my meal, not very long with the drink, and the uncomfortable sensation of having to pee like a damned racehorse 15 minutes after the coffee. An hour long add-on to a game I loved seems worth it.
