Ok...... I know I posted about how to get Live a while back, but I did some rooting around and I guess I have ethernet cable.... uhh.... its grey... and has those phone clips on both ends.... Image IPB

and from reading the Xbox Live website.... somehow I can attach this to my 360 and my mom's modem and get online?

still very confused on what plugs into what if I do have the right cord Image IPB

EDIT

Or somehow..... use my wireless laptop and the cord to make it work?? Stick the cord in my laptop and then my 360??

If the cord fits, it's the right cord. The question is what you're actually plugging it into. I assume you're using a computer plugged into the cable modem. You either have to disconnect that to connect the 360, or there is a router connected to the modem that has multiple ports. Just plug into a free port and you should be ready to go. The 360 will be able to test your network connection and suggest fixes if you cannot connect to Xbox Live.

Well I have a wireless laptop that feeds off of a router. my mom has the comptuer that works through a modem/cable for internet....

I'm wondering.....can I configure my laptop to connect to Live, and use the cord to connect?

I just don't want to haul my 360 out and start ripping apart cords in the living room.....

Where's the router your laptop is talking to? If it has a spare port, running the cable to it is the most efficient connection. You can buy a wireless transceiver for the 360 if you have the cash to spare. You should be able to configure the laptop to act as a multiplexer, but that would probably be my last choice - you'd have to poke around and figure out how to do it for your flavor of Windows (and the latest versions may not offer that for all I know - gotta keep things 'simple', ya know!).

Router for my laptop is in my living room next to the tv with a mess of cords......

I tried the computer version.... I have the cord going from my laptop to the 360.....and there's an download that takes 25 mins???

All I want is the free silver account so I get some of the ME/DA DLC...... at least Zaaed, and stuff.....

That's why I said it would be my last choice. Your throughput is limited by the wireless connection, so downloads and video streaming will be pretty slow compared to a direct cable connection.

(And you might want to tidy up that mess of cords. Sooner or later you're going to want to do something in a hurry and the effort will pay off.)
