I'd go buy Kasumi she's awesome. I'd avoid Overlord it's not that great and it only has less than 2 hours of game play. Save some pts up for the new DLC Lair of the Shadow Broker.

There isn't any real difference between Kasumi and Overlord in terms of extra gameplay, in fact I think the Overlord mission lasts longer than Kasumi's. Kasumi offers a new squadmate, a new gun and a tech upgrade, Overlord only heavy skin weave upgrade. I say if you like fighting Geth go for Overlord - otherwise Kasumi.

Best to get both ;)

1 dollar for every 80 points, i think. 10 bucks for 800. The mission packs have so far cost 560 points or 7 bucks. Kasumi is the must have--new character, and weapon, and decent playthrough. Overlord is good but not necessary. Shadow broker will be necessary as it continues a story arc.

Then, I'd spring for the firepower pack, aegis pack, and equalizer pack in that order. Really only grab the equalizer pack if you feel you must have inferno armor.

For only the items I've suggested, you're looking at 20 bucks in points (1600) if you want to get it all right now.

Is any of it necessary? Not really. Kasumi comes close as it's a new character, new mission, and new weapon. However, this is coming from someone that has purchased all the dlc but the alt. appearance pack. That was only because I didn't like the sunglasses...

My Advice:

Kasumi, Overlord and the Firepower Pack are a MUST HAVE!

Second comes the Aegis Pack, the armor is very nice along the Incisor Sniper Rifle, which is godly for your squadmates who can use it.

Equalizer Pack is mostly for the looks, since those helmets are not as useful as someone might think.

yeah..leanning towards Kasumi's and Firewalker....but... I'm sooo broke.... much as I want...gotta save moolah for things like rent and evil college loans >.>

But Liara's DLC looks tempting.....

Gonna go try Shale for Dragon Age.....want Warden's Keep too.....

if I had enough... I don't know if I'd want Awakenings....

I just got the Kasumi DLC this past weekend. I really like what you get for it, but the mission just seems short to me (did it in 80-90 minutes my first time through). The Locust SMG is awesome, wish it was originally packaged into ME2. Being a Liara fan, I'm definately waiting for that DLC to show up as I hope it will explain some background things between ME1 and ME2.

I highlighted research upgrades below.

1. Firepower Pack. It's awesome, all the new weapons are cool.

2. Aegis Pack. The new armor is cool. The sniper rifle is practically worthless, for the player at least.

3. Kasumi DLC. It's relatively short but the gameplay is fun and you get the best SMG out there, the Locust, plus another Tech Damage upgrade. If your character is going to use SMGs or tech powers, I consider this one a must.

4. Firewalker. I found it very boring. However, it comes with a Biotic Damage upgrade, bringing you to 60%. Would buy it if you will be using biotics, otherwise it's not that great. Unless you really like vehicle based missions.

5. Overlord. I'm surprised people don't seem to like it that much. There's pretty heavy and fun fighting going on here, some of the best of ME2. The downside (to me) is the vehicle part that I didn't enjoy all that much. There's a Heavy Skin Weave in here.

Another vote for Kasumi. She's great fun to bring along on missions, and she does things no one else can. Plus I bet top dollar you'll love her quarters! :)

yeah I've seen it on youtube... seen all the dlc there actually lol..... I'm glad firewalker is free with my network card though....I'm not sure what to think about w/ the hammerhead

When I get cash, I'll probably invest in a 2000 MSP card to get the Liara DLC...... and that I don't want to know what happens with that one

Did this topic get moved to Character, classes and Builds (spoilers) forum? Or was it always here? If it was moved why? It has nothing to do with Character, classes and Builds but ME2 download questions and no replies I‘ve read gave away anything that I would consider spoilers.

Zaeed is free though. Why wouldn't you get it?

Besides, it's yet another research upgrade. Just dumb that you can't save the refinery workers AND get the assault rifle upgrade.

Eh, if money is an issue, Kasumi for sure.

Overlord if you can afford it. Anything else .. only if you have money to burn.

Equipment, for instance, is neat .. but there's plenty of stuff in the game already. What's more, finding weapons and armour in the game is part of the draw with these games. Starting with the best stuff is sorta counterproductive.

Although, I still think the Shuriken is the best SMG in the game ... ...

Well I believe both the Locust and Tempest have higher damage rates, with the Locust being incredibly accurate, whereas the Tempest has some serious muzzle climb but an extreme rate of fire. This leads me to consider the Locust the best for the player. You can get headshots from good range with this, and it has the highest damage per shot.

If you like the Shuriken, it serves its purpose well enough.

Not true.
A single shuriken bullet deals the highest SMG damage out of the 3 weapons.
The Tempest makes up for this low damage for an obscene rate of fire, whilst the Locust has a more even vs defense damage distribution .. x1.25 vs shields, barrier, and armour instead of x1.5 vs shields and barrier.

Yes, the locust has greater accuracy at range, and the tempest has ridiculous DPS up close .. but the shuriken is actually inbetween ... its fire rate increases to full auto if you can click rapidly, while still being sufficiently accurate at medium range if you burst fire.

Now, I prefer the damage distribution to be heavily in skewed vs shield/barrier, since I tend to switch weapons vs armour anyway.

I back this up with video evidence ... I have a playlist in my sig of an entire playthrough using the shuriken as my main weapon, and I've had comments about how rapidly I take down foes.

I took my information from the Mass Effect wiki. It claims that the Shuriken does 20.5 damage per shot and the Locust does 25. Now the Shuriken fires in bursts so a burst is indeed higher damage.

Personally I've had better results with the Locust, so while I haven't done any real "research", it seems like a better gun to me.

If it's "new and fresh" the OP wants, I'd go with the Firepower Pack.

1. It's cheap.

2. The Mattock and the Geth Shotgun are very different from what we've used before. The pistol's a nice variation, too.

On a more "merit-based" evaluation, this is what I posted on a similar thread recently:

1. Kasumi's Stolen Memory. While some complain the mission itself is short, especially for the price, Kasumi's a good squadmate whose loyalty you can unlock almost immediately and whose flashbang grenade is useful against all enemies. (Game exploit: Flashbang works too well against Harbinger. He seems thrown off balance far too long.) You also get 60,000 credits, a tech damage upgrade, and 2K Platinum. There are also a few new planets with some resources. You also get the Locust submachine gun, an important consideration if you play a class that needs a longer-ranged, accurate SMG.

2.While Overlord's a very good value and better than some of the side missions that go with the regular game, I'm going to recommend the Firepower pack next. It's much cheaper and the Geth Shotgun vastly improves (IMHO) the value of shotgun-wielding squadmates Jacob, Jack and Tali. I also prefer it to other shotguns for Shep.

3. Overlord, for sheer gameplay value.

4. Aegis pack, for Kestrel armor and the M-29 Sniper rifle if you don't have the Digital Deluxe download.
