I'm not saying he doesn't treat men and women differently, though. The thing that sticks out for me is in one of the conversations about his childhood and you answer something along the lines of "I'm so sorry for you!" as a man, he seems to get a little uncomfortable and says "That's very kind of you to say, but it is not necessary" but if you say the same thing as a woman, he seems pleased with "An, compassion and beauty both in the same woman. It is a delight, truly, though what you say is unnecessary even if it is appreciated. The toolset says for the male version "Said with a shrug - he's not used to compliments" which sounds really strange, since it isn't really a compliment....

But before I get too sidetracked, my point was that he generally seems more flirty with women to me and more careful and sometimes unsure with male romances, mostly it seems because he'll not sure how exactly the warden will view homosexuality. So to me, it seems liked he's a little more guarded with men. Though, he does hide behind his sexuality, so I suppose being flirty could be more like being guarded as well.

You're right, of course, there are many places where the lines are slightly different and his reactions are a bit different.  That's what i was talking about -- the differences are slight and subtle, but give the romances a different feel to them.

The toolset comment... it may have been compassion towards him.  It's just how the voice is supposed to sound, it doesn't necessarily mean that is actually what is going through his mind.  And you're right, he IS more flirty with females.  With men, guarded is not the word I use but we may be using it in different ways.  Females get flirted with a biin dragon age, from Bann Teagan to Sergeant Kylon.  Males get the opportunity to flirt in different ways (Bella, Kaitlyn, Leliana).  These flirts are nothing but good manners and flattery, nothing serious is going on.

when i say Zevran is more direct with males, he's less coy.  What he says, there can be no mistaking.  males get lines line this:

Zevran: <desc>Laughs</desc> I was raised in a brothel and trained to seduce whomever is required. Open-mindedness is a survival trait, and I learned long ago to make no such judgments. (amused by the suggestion)

Edit; women get no equivalent line here.

Prize: Mind if I say nothing? Ran out of tuits for non-work stuff, unless a 10 minute sketch is worth a prize.

ANYWAY, ToP picture!

idk the flirting got intense with Leliana, asking about forbidden fruit, and in the bard convo she says the chantry forbids her from having the best kinds of fun. on 2 occassions (romance with Morrigan and Bard convo) she will make it obvious she has a crush on the male. 

Bella and Kaitlyn will kiss you, but nothing relationship wise.

I was talking about a particular flirting which was exclusively male, and more along the line of 'flirting to be friendly" vein. I was not saying females couldn't flirt with leliana, but that is NOT what I meant.

Gah, to spell it out for you, THIS is what I'm talking about. It is not romance related, and does not lead to the romance being opened. Lines like these;

warden: You don't need fancy shoes to make you beautiful.
warden: A beautiful woman will be beautiful anyway. Like you are.

There's a particular conversation I have in mind, but i can't find it right now.

I know this is the zev thread but what do toolset notes say of that conversation.  personally i think there should of been a romance starter ther.

personally i was surprised how well she handles a bi male warden with zev.

As far as how she handles a bi male, that is the one lore change i've made in my entire mod -- I hate the responses available as they do not account for an openly gay or bisexual male, so i added two.

I don't have any persistant interest in people who relate to me based on gender rather than who I am.  I usually make how I am pretty clear with people, and it's ether a problem, or not.  That does not make how YOU feel or how YOU might relate to another wrong.  Just difference in tastes.  Just like how our feelings towards the difference in dialogue is up to taste.  I'm just saying I never got that about people, is all, and tend to suround myself with people who also have a more gender nuetral outlook.

ES, he gives the same information to women as he does to men, but it's in a slightly different way.  And the way the conversation goes for females, it makes just as much sense.  I never got the feeling he was using his work as an excuse (quite the opposite -- that he often enjoyed that aspect of the work though not always).  You could look at it as he's telling a female more about something different.

You're making assumptions both about me and my world view.  If anything I'm more masculine than feminine.  Many of my friends completely flip gender roles.  I had a lot more details in here, but I think it detracts.  I'll just say what you assume about me is...  wrong.

My problem was I spoke in generalities, and of course, not everyone falls in a nice neat category.  

I thought I was just being fair by saying you may have different experience with people.  I was not trying to impose it upon you.  So I really hope I didn't offend.  Rather I was attempting the opposite... rather than arguing the view you put forth, which would be pointless as it may be real life experience, aknowledging that sometimes that's how it works.  Thanks for clearing that up, though.  Probably why I like you.  lol

With being more guarded, I meant when he's talking about his attraction to/feelings for the warden, not when he's talking about sex. Sorry to be confusing. I just meant that there are more times that Zevran openly flirts with women than men, like you said.

And that mod looks awesome.  We're moving the game/mods/files to my sister's laptop because my computer is old and can hardly play Origins.  No more lag and bad graphics, and now I'll have something new to play with, too!  Literally doing a happy dance.

Crows (as in the ones that go cawwww) actually collect shinies, like magpies do, and are actually vicious bastards. They'll go pick on other birds for fun, and will taunt birds of prey (like kestrels, buzzards, etc) and try to take their food from them, as well as destroy nests (owls are a favourite) for fun. Little bastards, they are, and a lovely, apt name for an assassin's guild.
 They got nothing on bower birds, though, in terms of shiney collecting. Those little birds are amaaaaaazing.

Prompt: Oghren!

What's this? Oghren in your ZevThread?  Indeed!  Zevran has some great banter with all the companions, and Oghren's no exception.  Show me, in the medium of your choice, some sort of Zevran/Oghren interaction.  It can feature other companions and/or a Warden too, but there must be Oghren!

This.  :ph34r:  The grunting, the dog, the totally different reality Oghren is inhabiting, and Zevran's idle curiosity about it all sounds dead-on to me.

The pair thought of lost things buried in deep places, neither voicing what it was, the unspoken bronto in the room.

“Maybe, my friend.” Zevran got up and dusted the seat of his breeches, righting the clasp of his tunic suddenly. “You think that if you give up and forget, it'll go away, but it never does.”

The dwarf stopped, his beer very still in his hands. “Oh, there are ways, believe me,” and Oghren took a large swill.

“Ah, but you wake up with a hangover, several bruises and a woman you've never met before. Trust me, it's all fun and games until you get a strange rash and a bar bill the size of a small country.”

Here I see the Oghren who's self-aware enough in Awakening to answer, when asked if his exile bothers him, "Sometimes.  Then I drink some more and it goes away."  There's comedy here but genuine emotion, too.

(Although I was *really* expecting Oghren to follow up 'Hold my beer' with 'You all watch this.'  )

Ohhhhh my goodness.    I could watch the Broma Brothers all day!  Poor Oghren but... too funny!

“You nug humpers stored ale down here! It will spoil.” Oghren staggered  over to the cage, grumbling, his pants falling further with each step to Ewan’s horror as he watched on.

Ewan did not think he had ever  seen an individual so bad at keeping any form of composure. Alistair’s  red face still held in the chuckle he was so desperately trying to  suppress as he slowly moved behind Oghren, lining himself up with the door of the cage. Sten, on the hand looked as stoic and annoyed as he had through any of their travels together.

Ewan barely had time  to register what happened next. As Oghren bent down to grab at his  treasure so conveniently placed at the floor of the rusted cage, Alistair made his move lunging directly at Oghren’s back.

If Ewan had not been standing there he wouldn’t have believed how swiftly the drunken dwarf had moved. Oghren easily sidestepped Alistair and without a care turned to leave, prize in hand, making his way to towards the exit towards the study.

Never go against a durgen'len when booze is on the line!  Just goes to show that you don't survive multiple battles in the Deep Roads without knowing how to hold your liquor.

I thought "Dwarves Can't Climb Trees" covered an awful lot of ground in a little space: the self-destructive tendencies each of the characters has overcome/is wrestling with; the varied bonds of friendship and honor that tie the three together; the way they all use different humor (Zevran's sly; Oghren clowns; Vardel's self-depreciating) to deal with (or avoid dealing with) what's going on and being said.  And the hunting cabin in the woods was great use of an iconic setting.

Its easy enough to move around and keep exploring, but do you think that Zevran would face off against the crows, and keep traveling with his friends and just try to avoid them as long as possible.

Hmmm, since the travelling one is a 'for a time' one, it's possible he and the warden together went to face the crows (denerim he stays with the warden for a time, traveling he and the warden travel together for a time, and gray wardens, he stays and helps rebuild the gray wardens).

It actually is the most likely scenario given the Awakening epilogue.
