Naah. Alley is nothing if not pragmatic. She'll punt folks into the Dark Ritual without much morality fuss on her end. Yes, there might be trouble from it later (Morrigan's super-secretive-intentions godbaby) but you know what? Alley will have reloaded by the time it grows up, so to speak. ;)

I've said before I might write her attempt at the US as an alternative universe type thing, since it would require the Dark Ritual to not be an option. Note that I said attempt, though. >.>

I'll stop rambling. I'm tired and it shows. XD

The thread is really slow these days, you should stick around. Chances are good you won't have twenty pages to catch up on if you walk away for a few hours, lol.

Question for the forumites: In your canon run, where do you see Zevran in five years after Origins? Where is he after ten years? How does he spend the rest of his life? Does he stay with your Warden, if you were involved?

In my canon run he stays with Aithne - of course they don't even get together until four years after the blight because she's to caught up in doing what she thinks is right.   Together to Antiva -yes- but not as the Awakening slides depict it.   Aithne's calling - Zev plans to go to the deep roads with her (over her protests), but funny things happen....Posted Image

Any opinions on what DLC's are worth getting?

*ears prickled up* DLC?

Dragon Age one? Golem of Amgarrak is pretty good. And nearly everyone has Shale here.

Gah, Ramante doesn't post much in here anymore (miss her much -- along with others I could name, but am going to save for another /cry message). I have missed most of the DLCs as well -- I didn't find anything special about WH, but for people who romance morrigan, it gives them a nice ending (though they're the only warden that gets an explanation as to why their warden disappears).

Well at the moment, Ramante insanely busy with Uni, so I can't say I'm suprised she hasn't been posting much. *shrugs*

It's a shame there's not more of the group still around. :(

I guess I'll get WH for my mage and Golems for my Dwarf.

I liked Leliana's Song but I might be in the minority. It had a story driven feel to it, even though I think there were complaints that it didn't sync up with what she told the Warden about her "past life". That didn't bother me all that much though, I figure everyone telling a story gets some creative license (heck, I'm sure Zevran could tell a hundred stories as verbatim fact that didn't have a lick of truth in them). Outside what shipped with DA:O (Shale/Soldier's Peak), it was my favorite. Objectively, I liked all the DLC except Darkspawn Chronicles which I couldn't finish due to being unable to kill Zevran. If I could have waited to play DA, the Ultimate Edition they're selling now is a far better deal than buying all the DLC piecemeal, though - and in retrospect I might have just saved my money due to the general disappointment over lack of returning companions Awakenings onward.

I liked Leliana's Song as well, especially Act One. They managed to capture some of the sense of mischief and nasty fun that clearly attracted Leliana to the life, and that was pretty impressive to me.

That doesn't bother me for Lel's Song, but I think this kind of storytelling *will* bug me for DA2. It might depend on how they handle it, but the potential is there for Bioware to handwave and say, "Varric was lying. This is what your character really did in the game!" to avoid the branching endgames of DA:O 'problem'.

After I bought feastday I swore, no more stupid DLCs. Then, well, believing the hype, I bought Witch Hunt. *sigh* i take it Leliana's Song is worth it?

I would facepalmif they solved all the narration problems with "Varric was just exaggerating." THAT is a huge slippery slope.

I've solved my awakening continuity issues! My wardens didn't become warden commander!

Actually, the only one it really makes any sense for is my Queen Cousland. I actually can see Zevran having to go to Antiva and her not being able to. I also see her going off as soon as she can go, though. But with her, it actually makes a little sense for her to stick around Ferelden. And I can see Zevran not wanting to see her get married to Alistair so going off to take care of his business instead.

I...uh...didn't actually play LS. I watched it on Youtube. >.> Did the same with Witch Hunt. LS looked like fun. So did WH, up to the point Morrigan starts talking without actually saying anything.

Oooh, I didn't consider just watching it on youtube.

WH really ticked me off, though. It seems somehow wrong that if i want to play after Origins, I have to accept my warden and Zevran being in different countries for a few years, with my warden not going and helping him :/ I just don't see it!

Then again, I've probably whined on that whole subject far too much :)

Not necessarily. When I was still considering having Awakenings as part of my canon (okay, still considering), I have Zevran still in Ferelden but doing things for my Warden (or being sent off and prevented from doing things for my Warden). I think you have to consider the 1-2 punch of Zevran with the Warden in Ferelden something that say, Arl Eamon would want to break up, especially if the Warden & Alistair or Warden & Anora are friendly. But it can't be anything too overt and they can't really object if there are legitimate reasons (for example, one I use is the re-taking of Highever for Fergus).

The idea you get from Witch Hunt is that Ferelden is still pretty poorly off, in terms of political upheaval. Sending Zevran off to assassinate a few of the more outspoken Banns might not be unheard of for some Wardens (not everyone, but for those of us who are fine with him still being an assassin when all is said and done), as another example.

You can sort of twist things around, timeline-wise at least a little bit, which helps.

And I agree about DA2 narrative, in principle, then again, if it's an excuse to bring back my Warden for DA3 with a: Hawke is a despot and Varrick is a liar - I might take it.

LOL - I did the same thing - thanks to all the kind folks who post their gameplay on YouTube. Morrigan would have made an excellent politician - all sound bites and no substance. At any rate, I'm glad I didn't buy WH.

I watched them all (both ME and DA's DLC) on YouTube first and decided which one I actually wanted to play myself. Golems of Amgarrak is nice. Not so sure about the WH. Yes, the pun about Anders in the Tower was very amusing and the idea of Eluvian mirror was good. But somehow it did not appeal to me.

Tsk, what love. :P
Is that all I get for talking to you on msn, it is obviously clear I am still alive.
And I'm still giving a lot of love to Zevran (and you, of course).

Leliana's Song is fun to play once, she is not my favorite character so I haven't played it that often, only to get the achievements and items.
Witch Hunt is fun, but talking to Morri in the end is not, though I think it will be better when she is your Warden's LI. As a fem Warden it is not that great.
GoA is fun, I really liked it, but for some strange reason it was more challenging with a mage than with a rogue, but that was probably because of the enormous pile of dex my rogue had, so whatever happened she just walked around the battlefield without getting hit.

Witch Hunt is a perfectly lovely little diversion right up until the end, seconded. Dog is back, the companions are amusing, and it feels like a brief enough journey that it could be plausibly inserted into anyone's canon, unless they and their LI were joined at the hip.

With my f!Mahariel, it was shades more awesome. The Dalish companion really helps give closure to a DE who was left feeling abandoned or exiled after Origins.

And yeah, the conversation with Morrigan was pointless. :/

I have LS, but I haven't played it yet--any time I get to sit down with Taer for two hours is generally spent playing Guild Wars or doing maintenance. After the massive disappointment of Awakening I refused to buy any DLC, and I've kept true to that (I won LS in a contest). But I've heard LS and WH are decent, so long as you can subtract Morrigan's appearance in WH (which, wasn't that the whole point?)

Still incredibly resentful over the lack of official Zevran DLC (and how buggy Awakening made DA:O, still unplayable for me without a mod that reduces particle effects), and I confess it factors into my decisions about DA2--not rewarding bad behavior.

This. Thisthisthisthis.

I guess that's what borrowed copies are for. That's certainly the only way I'm going to check out DA2...
