Is it just me or is Zevran basically confirming what Taliesin said about you not knowing him?

You could look at it that way, but I don't think that's really the point -- I'm not sure Zevran is confirming anything right there other than Taliesen misjudged Zevran.  The warden is claiming a relationship there, Taliesen thinks it's funny that anyone would think that, and Zevran is telling Taliesen that he's wrong.

Hmmm, another dialog i don't want to over-think.

RE: who kills Taliesin in-game:

I had such a great game-combat-mechanics-transfer-to-story moment when my PC was KO'ed by Taliesin and Zevran dealt the final blow right afterward. Something about that translated in my mind to Zevran being reluctant to raise his hand against Tal until after his romanced PC has been hurt. Ahh, the guilty angst potential...

(Then again, I was saving Tal 'till last. Just seemed much more dramatic to have Taliesin the last one standing rather than random Crow #3 or something.)

On that train of thought, Taliesin really should have had some sort of death-rattle line a la Arl Howe. :/

This prompt is generating so much awesome -- stories AND discussion! 

I guess I'm also in the camp of, Z & T clearly have something between them, something strong, possibly stronger on Zevran's side than what he felt for Rinna.  Or deeper, in the sense of, it was so deeply buried that Zevran never felt it as a threat as he did with Rinna.  I sort of imagine Zev as taking his relationship (whatever one wants to call it) with Taliesen for granted -- someone who's been there forever.  Whatever he felt for Taliesen clearly didn't alarm him, maybe because it took years to build up, and they were friends first, or something.  I always got the impression that Rinna, or Zev's attraction to her, was a relatively new thing, maybe because he does speak of her in such idealized tones.

I also agree that Taliesen felt more strongly than Zevran did -- Taliesen was not enough to keep Zevran from his suicide mission, and yet T. chased after Zev, to bring him back or avenge him, on a mission that was so dangerous/foolhardy that no one else wanted it.  I imagine vengeance is not a Crow policy... #1, it could be a dangerous waste of "resources" (i.e., assassins), and #2, you're not supposed to care about anyone enough to bother.   (As someone pointed out earlier, hell, the Crows are competitive -- rather than avenging a comrade, you should be looking for how his loss is your gain!)

/ramble  (I think I'm just reiterating stuff folks have already said at this point!)

Re: who gets the final blow on Taliesen, I think my Warden would have liked to spare Zevran from having to do it, but when I wrote it out in story form, he didn't get the opportunity, and Zev had to do it after all. :/  (Hey, chapter 14 of my fic fulfills this week's prompt and last week's. XD)  If he's Adoring the Warden at that point, though... I don't think he has any regrets.  He'd be pained about it, I think, but he's seen what life away from the Crows can be, and Taliesen wasn't as willing to leave the gilded cage.

(As far as in-game goes, though, I generally don't map out that fight any specific way.  All things considered, Taliesen's not much of a boss. XD; He just has a lot of thugs.  In a mess like that, whatever happens, happens. ^^;   I agree that he should have a few death-lines though!  Particularly if Zev stays in your party to fight.  Sheesh! )

@Kornichon - That's what I'm talkin' about. :/ I agree with what ejo said before that Zevran doesn't have to be *shielded* from killing Taliesen, but...I wouldn't blame a Warden for thinking he'd be better off if he wasn't the one to do the deed.

@Creature - Ouch. Nice one. Both that Taliesen tells Zev he's an idiot for coming for him, *and* that he doesn't say thank you. Very in character for both Crows, I think.

@Hilde - Hmm...this makes me wonder if the party actually does something with Taliesen's body after the fight, or if they leave it there to rot. Zevran would probably be practical about it and say leave it, but I guess it's possible the body could be burned in an empty street. Nice writing.

@ICevoL - Ooh, another nice piece. I like that Taliesen's so cautious about another Crow giving him looks. I don't imagine intimacy is something assassins enjoy (with each other) without some degree of wariness.

@Corker - So far, this one is still my favourite. Taliesen's assumptions, the 'official' explanation for Zevran's absence (something I've always had trouble justifying, but I do agree the Crows would keep an assassin that came crawling willingly back to the fold), and Zevran's last line. Perfect.

@Sarah - I was going to do a pre-Ferelden entry, but you beat me XD I'm not sure about Taliesen asking for a goodbye (seems a bit sentimental), but I enjoyed your take. I wouldn't think Taliesen would be happy at being left behind.

@payroo - Well, now, they look like they're enjoying themselves I like!

I loved this!  The humor and playfulness despite the serious matter of the assassination really fits.  I kind of wish you had made it NSFW.  LoL  Pretty exciting.

It’s brutal.  The denial, the going through the motions, Taliesin’s completely misplaced ‘good intentions’, and Zevran’s  inability to tell him the truth for such unfortunate reasons.  It fits.

Kornichon,
Your warden is so pretty!  Nice art.  I like this idea about how or why Zevran might be the one to finish Taliesin.  I like the smirk on his face even as he dies.  Sad, but fitting.  I get the impression that Taliesin in the comic strip is implying he knows his death could set Zevran free?  That’s a moving and intriguing thought.

Hilde, A Small Mercy
This one brought tears to my eyes.  I wish there were more recognition of character’s losses in game.  I really like how you handle it.

ICevoL, Alive
I like how you handle the inequity between them that is implied in the game.  It fits perfectly that early on they would be weary of each other, and Taliesin would use sex to assert his authority, and that Zevran would find it so easy and perfectly pleasurable to submit.  I like the psychology behind the sex.

Corker, Antivan
You got Zevran’s good-humored deflections down.  I like how this illustrates the difference in world view between the two.  Taliesin is so well intentioned here but so centered on the Crows it‘s as though anything else would be absurd.  I think that really fits.

Sarah1281,
I like the idea of the two of them trying to protect each other like that.  It’s very bitter-sweet, knowing the inevitable end.  That last bit sets up for Taliesin’s cocky attitude and jealous tone when he introduces himself.  It fits very well.

I love it.  I take this as the moment the two realized there is a little more to their relationship than empty pleasure and pragmatic partnership.  I like that it goes unsaid, though.

in fact when I started to draw it, it was a very romanticize version (like you see in mushy movies)
but finally I wanted it to show the things simply with not much words and to let people who will see it having their own version of what they see from my version.
(ok it's a bit confusing, say like that XD )
