Congrats, SoLD! That was a great entry - really like the transition from real emotional pain/doubt to sexy times/reaffirmation of trust!

...and ooh, tattoos! gosh, I just used up my only serious idea for that and now have no choice but to draw something obvious and cheesecake-y. :P

*slips into the thread*

Hi guys - I'm new in this forum and was amazed to find this thread. Zev is my favorite character in DAO and currently the love-interest of my Daelish bard.

I've read the stories from the last cahllenge and they are great.

Congrats Shadow :-)

Welcome, Fylimar! I'm not new to these forums or DA, but I *am* new to Zevran, having never truly romanced him until my current playthrough (which is also a Dalish Elf, btw). It's nice to see another new face in here... makes me feel not so quite alone.

I just write, but yes.  I keep trying to point out he reaps the benefits, but he still makes fun of me.    As well, it amuses him.

I haven't started into smut ff, yet.  Although, just the other day I was helping plot out a possible "first night" scene between Cullen and the Warden for a possible future mod, and hubby caught me writing out a description of what would be happening in the scene.  He was amused.  But, he has learned that he most certainly reaps the benefits of my addiction to smut.

Welcome Fylimar! And thanks :)

Tigress: Nice new prompt. Hmm...have to think more now. I feel sorry for Payroo--that picture would have been *perfect* for this prompt, I think. :)

Tigress and Shadow: thanks for the welcome :-)

Tigress: In my first playthrough, I first tried to romance Alistair, but as soon, as Zevran came in, I liked him to no end as a character - and I ended up romancing him.

@Flyimar - I was just the opposite. Steve Valentine's voice swept me off my feet as soon as I met Alistair and in my very first playthrough, I actually killed Zevran because Alistair didn't approve of my keeping him. In my next playthrough, I kept Zevran, but I just didn't like his voice (or Leilana's for that matter) and so never bothered to try and romance him.

But, over the course of a year, Zevran grew on me, becoming one of my favorite party members. I tried to romance him a couple of times, but again, SV's voice kept pulling me back to Alistair.

Then, a couple months ago, I did Drunkistair run and recruited Loghain... because I really wanted to take Loghain to RtO as well as run around with him for side quests so I could learn his character a little more. In that run, I romanced Ali, as usual, and then hit Zev on the rebound. It was good, but I knew I'd missed a lot of awesome Zevran-ness including the chance to have him propose. But... I still had the problem with SV's voice and my Ali addiction.

However, that was greatly diminished when I decided to do a "dice" run -- where every conversation choice was made by a role of the die. By the end of that game, having gained very little approval with Alistair, I realized I could actually play a game without needing to swoon over Alistair's every word.

And so, here I am... finally. I still miss Alistair, but I am finding the romance with Zevran to be wonderful, in its own unique way (and anticipate it getting much better since I've just now finished all the treaty quests and have gone to Denerim with Eamon). And the way it's going, I may find myself romancing Zevran quite often (if not all the time) in future games.

Tigress, I caught you!

I've been lurking in this thread for a long time. Even though I, too, was knocked off my feet by SV's voice, Zev was my next favourite character (I find myself practicing his accent), so I have always read this thread. Well, at least since I started playing in September. I've "come out of the closet", so to speak, since I saw your post.

Now if I could only convince my hubby that a wife addicted to smut is a good thing! He still thinks what we do here is stupid. He hasn't put it together, yet.

Thanks for all the good stuff here, folks!

They're coming out of the woodwork!

XD  Welcome on board, everybody!  Always nice to see new faces, and to hear how they came to the Zev side :P  Hearing folks' stories today got me thinking, though:

If you planned ahead of time to romance Zevran, did you pick a specific Warden to do so?  Why them?

(Personally, I did plan from the start to romance Zev, but that didn't influence my choice of character. XD)

All my Mahariel's went for Zev. He's the boy from the wrong side of the glade after all.

Some of my Tabris' went for Zev as well, what with him being an elf.

The best romance was Zev and my canon Brosca. Zev's background ties in beautifully with the Dwarf Commoner.

I have a FCE specifically for Zev. When I get done with Moira's canon game, that is, and try to break Zev's romance so she can have both. Because that's HER canon. ;)

I don't know what my DNF or CDF will do. My Dalish might go with Al just for the irony of the thing.

This was on the Varric thread:

Well?

Are we a real fan thread?  I am... not aware that we fulfil this requirement.  This should, IMO, be remedied!

I did plan, but did not pick specific Wardens for it.   In the case of my Mahariel, this plan backfired - I thought a Dalish Zevromance would be natural, but found it impossible instead.

Should have installed Equal Love mod for that one.  Morrigan clearly wanted some of that.

Thanks for the welcome Jenovan!
I'm pretty new to DAO and on my 3rd playthrough. With my first warden had no idea LI's were available, so he went the entire game a virgin. :( I personally developed a crush on Alistair, even though I had been playing a male noble character. I loved the dialogue and SV's voice. Then I discouvered romance while checking the forums to find what I had missed on the 1st playthrough. My second warden was human female designed strictly for tent time. Slaughtering darkspawn was secondary. Both games had me mimicking Zevran's accent and intonations. All of his dialogue makes me giggle. So, on this game, I decided to play a city elf female, one for the origin story, and second for the Zev romance. Well, maybe it was the other way around. It seemed a better fit than Dalish or any human or dwarf character. The sheltered Alienage dweller swept off her feet by the swashbuckling assassin type story. I'm a slow player, so I'm hoping the ZRS will be openly available before I finish this run so I can partake of more Zev sexiness. I do have the kisses, and keep switching them around depending on how I feel at the time, but I like the passionate one the best.
My take is: Alistair is the good, clean cut boy you take home to your parents and Zev is the bad boy you really want.

a naked barbarian version of Zev? yum!

onto the question...

most, if not all of my female elves romance Zevran.  I just can't see a Dalish elf romancing Ali. That's fine for others, but it just does not fit the background for me.  Elves know, Dalish elves for certinly, that any childrent between an elf and a human will result in a human child. I can't see a Dalish elf knowing this would begin a romance with Ali. It is not until the end of the game that you find out that two Wardens can't make a child anyway (naturally anyway, the word of god said that that does not mean that they couldn't using some kind of magic)

City elves also know about the elven/human thing, plus the tramatic begining of the game. I can't see a female city elf romance Ali, expecially when they find out that even if he doesn't want to be, he's a noble (and he doesn't tell them until he *has* to , there is also the possiblity of not taking Ali to redcliff and you don't find out until the arl is alive.)

I wish the game made a female elf companion for my male elves, but I also think that just like in our world a female is told of the dangers of sex more then the guys are.   My elven males typically romance Leli, unless they are gay, and then Zev gets them too. lol

the only elves that I have in a relationship with Ali are my mage elves, they are brought up in the circle and that is about magic not elven birth statistics. These are also usually the stories where Ali is not made king. (I can't do the mistriss story line...it bothers me personally, so I can't do it in the game)

My female dwarfs.... my auducans romance Ali, my brascas romance Zev. lol

my  female human nobles romance ali, and my female human mages..... that's my up in the air. lol  someitmes it's ali, sometimes leli, sometimes Zev.

my male mages wind up most of the times romancing Mori.

well, there is my novel for today. lol
