So a completely random question for you guys...what kind of musical instrument could you see Zevran playing?

Modern? Saxophone.
Medievaloid? Other people's harps. It takes little skill to learn how to do some open fifths and glissandos to accompany love poetry, keeps your eyes and mouth available for flirting, all the most swoon-worthy heroes of the Orlesian romances play them, and since you're borrowing, you don't have to do the fiddly work of tuning yourself.
Agreeing more or less with this because of the bolded bit -- I don't see Zev putting a lot of effort into learning an instrument, past what might be useful to catch someone's eye (ear?). His dexterity might help him improvise, though...Tellervo wrote...
^I'm going to second this as my serious answer. I don't think he'd dedicate a lot of time to learning it, no more than your average young man who picks up guitar just to pick up chicks would.Corker wrote...

OK, I hate to admit this, but it's time for me to reject Zev so that Moira's canon play through comes out right.
Which way nets me the least disapproval?

OTOH, Zevran's catlike "I meant to do that" aura would help immensely... "No, no, not a 'wrong note,' mi amora. A dissonance, to add tension... See, I play it again. Can you not feel the music begging to come to completion? One note higher, just one, and it will relax into finality... Should I play it, do you think, and conclude the piece, or continue to... draw things out, mm?"

Least disapproval for a breakup with Zevran? Depends on characters and where you are in the game.
For no approval loss, you have to be a CousCous marrying Alistair, when he asks about the upcoming wedding, tell him "I'm sorry, Zevran."
For a slight approval gain (though you're losing about 20 approval), first time sex, give the highest approval dialog choices, then tell him afterwards it can't happen again.
Otherwise, if he's in love, you're dealing with losing I believe 26 points. Since you're being forced to choose between him and Alistair, I guess talk directly to Zevran, and be nice. Though... if you choose Zevran (and dump Ali) and talk directly to Alistair, if you're decent, you gain 2 approval instead of that huge approval loss from Zev.

I'm trying to activate that bug. I still have the gloves to give to him.

?? bug? Are you talking about having both Alistair and Zevran romance open? this bugs out Zevran, but you still will be able to talk to Alistair. Just have Alistair force the choice, choose Alistair, talk to Zevran, then restart the romance (if you can). You'll still be able to talk to Alsitair, but every time you talk to Zevran, you'll get the beginning of the jealousy talk then it will cut off.
The approval gain of Alistair from dumping Alistair is working as intended, actually. Most breakups with Zevran will net you a loss of -26 to -46 points (depending on where you are in the game). If he's in love, you further need to talk him into staying because the last thing he wants to do is stay on with you (though this dialog doesn't happen when you're forced to make a choice, he does say that he would rather be anywhere else than to watch what he can't have).

I've had a rough day today and need some Dragon Age :-) I've not got Zev in my new character's party yet, as I'm only at Lothering I wonder if I can manage to get him by the time I go to bed tonight
