When Zeravn ddid this to the broodmother on my game I was all !!!!!!  and wished to goodness there was a way I could have captured it on my Xbox.

My first playthrough Zevran was a peice of crap fighter, and I was glad I was a rogue, because it seemed silly that the only other rogues in game were useless.

My last playthrough his stats were so well placed (even though they were lower than mine), he was killing everything before I had a chance to even get to the enemies.  I had to resort to giving him crap weapons just so I had a chance to even get to the enemies to attempt to steal from them.

No.  The romance has to be active, and you have to pick a particular conversation line.  It's pretty harsh, but it's one of two public kisses with him in the vanilla game.  You have to go down the conversation line, after he says he's free from the crows, "As long as no one tells them."  And go with it.

Yeah, default/autoleveled Zevran is craptastic. But with ZevranASAP and/or the respec module, he is a BAMF...that I have to periodically disable tactics on so I can get a deathblow in once in a while.

Hey, I just popped in to say thanks to ejoslin for the advice I managed to get Alistair to dump me so I didn't feel like a louse and Zev was straight in there
I'm really pleased because he has always been in my top two or three characters in DA (along with Alistair..... hence the problem I have not romancing Alistair) I am really pleased that I finally have a warden who can appreciate Zev properly In future I will be sure to have my non nobles do this so Zev gets the loving he deserves
Anyway, thanks again (and to the other two who offered advice, don't know if they post here?) Might pop by more if that is OK?

I have always 'fancied', the idea of a Zev romance but could never resist Alistair, in future though I know what to do when I want some Zev love instead of Alistair.

No, not at all, I had abandoned that particular play through a week or so ago, because I had a bee in my bonnet about romancing Zev for a while and I just couldn't bring myself to do the whole 'try this and reload', with likely an hour to two hours gameplay because of 'doing it wrong', and rinsing and repeating til I got it right, iyswim? (OCD gamer, lol) 
I saw the Mad at Zev thread and felt the need to defend him (because he has always been one of my favourites) and when I saw the links in your sig, I thought it was serendipity  
I feel a bit swoony about him now  I know it was just coincidence but after resolving the romance dialogue we pootled off to Redcliffe and when the Ogre there picked up my warden and started shaking her it was at that time that Zev jumped in. The ogre dropped her unharmed as Zev performed the 'slo mo' kill - it felt like he was protecting her........
I am definitely going to make a Dalish Elf just for him  I might follow the advice for getting him sooner too  I've always loved him but now have a renewed appreciation for him.

I think a Dalish gets an extra (non-romance) line when discussing the Dalish with Zevran.  City Elf gets some LI-specific dialogue when s/he goes home... but I think that's bugged unless your LI is Alistair.  (But ejoslin's ZDF restores it, IIRC.)

From an RP perspective, though, I think it's potentially *very* different.  I made a Dalish to romance Zevran with, too, and... couldn't do it.  So don't make a Mahariel who's so hung up on "Live free or die" that s/he can't get past "I consider myself more Antivan than elven."

It sure does.  I don't know what it is with a CEF, but the line I got in my recent re-run with my CEM is great. XD Roughly paraphrased:

CEM: The wedding never happened.
Zevran: Did she find out that you...

and then the rest of the conversation continues without getting into the details of that.  Oh man, it's not funny, but I laughed because it fit really well.  Thanks again (and always), ejo!

Mine's from FFVII as well, and I'll also go for "Jenova" when it's available (very seldom on game sites .  "Jenovan", though, is an term our roleplaying group uses for people who have been experimented on using Jenova's cells, so the word has a meaning (to me, anyway). XD

Ooh, on topic, and possibly hot-button.  I've seen a lot of dissing of Zev in the various DA2 threads.  One of the things that gets brought up against him as a male romance LI is that he will say, when asked about his sexual history (roughly paraphrased):
Given my druthers, I prefer a soft and shapely woman, but I know what I am.

His next sentence is something to the effect of, he won't let what society thinks dictate how he feels about people.

Some players have taken this line as belittling of a male Warden, i.e. "well, I like women but you'll do", especially since you can choose to have this conversation quite late in your relationship.  Others have argued that many bisexual people do have a preference, but that doesn't make their relationships with the non-preferred gender any less meaningful.

Discuss?


My take: #1, I will say that I took that conversation as soon as it was available, because it seemed appropriate with my CEM, who had never been with a man before, himself.  So I didn't find it all *that* off-putting.  Besides that, the second half of the sentence kind of defuses the first, I think: I like women, but I like men too, I am aware of that and will not attempt to hide it.

Maybe more importantly, if you deepen the romance, and follow it through to the end, does it really matter?  If he's just helped you kill his former lover/best friend (who is, by the way, a man), and tried really hard to confess his love for you, and given you a token, can you not accept that he cares for you as you are, regardless of your gender?

And a sort of technical aside: I think, kind of like having the post-tent talk after you hit Love, this conversation as written may simply not fit right later in the relationship.  Or at least, Zevran's responses might not.  He's honest but not tactless, and when at Adore with someone, saying that you prefer the other gender seems a bit... iffy.

Okay, news from the DA2 forums (again).
Apparently someone managed to get a Zev screenshot of how he looks in DA2.
It's in the 'super heavy spoiler' thread.. if anyone is interested (and doesn't want to read/see other spoilers) I can post a link/pm the picture.
To give some info, it looks definitely like Zevran, but I don't know.. I don't like his new looks (damn the new art style). x.x
