Okay, news from the DA2 forums (again).
Apparently someone managed to get a Zev screenshot of how he looks in DA2.
It's in the 'super heavy spoiler' thread.. if anyone is interested (and doesn't want to read/see other spoilers) I can post a link/pm the picture.
To give some info, it looks definitely like Zevran, but I don't know.. I don't like his new looks (damn the new art style). x.x
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Dear lord, I am SO glad I cancelled my preorder. WTF? WHY did he have to get a cameo
Zevran does not do well with hot-rod-samari-ing.
Edit: I have this feeling they're going to ruin the character from the looks on down.

Clearly that is not Zevran, but some upstart using his name.
We can just hope that the bug that was making fat chins and small mouths affected Zevran, and the demo hadn't gotten around to repairing it.
God, that picture is HORRIBLE.

I don't know- messing around with the CC andit seems like almost everyone has the whole bloated chin/jaw thing. And you can't change the width of the mouths. Hopefully its just a really old build or something.

It's just unbelievable that they would let a LI from Origins look THAT horrible in the next game. I mean, wouldn't SOMEONE stop it?
Edit: Now I'm laughing at myself for being THIS pissed off. If I needed proof that someone at Bioware hated Zevran, I got it!

The demo-CC, on the other hand, has already been noted as unfinished by the devs.
Of more concern to me is the story involved, and we've got nothing on that yet. I generally have faith in Gaider and the writers, but I'm terrified of the thought of bugged saved-game imports...

I didn't know such bug existed. Maybe there is still hope.
I don't want to believe that this is their new model for elves...as I said in the other thread, no aging, nothing, could mess up like that his facial traits...

I don't think that pic is from the demo -- as far as anyone in the spoilers thread can tell, there are no elves (or qunari) in the demo. It could be from an old build, perhaps -- no one knows or is saying.

I'm going to rant, so ignore please...
Something to think about -- there's approximately 40% fewer spoken lines in DA2. Since the protagonist is voiced, this will result is MUCH less dialog and interaction (as if a 40% drop isn't enough, it probably is closer to 60% or even 70% fewer conversations).
Many of these conversations were filler, granted. The little boy in Lothering, totally optional. Same with the guy outside of the Tavern there. Even the kid who laughed at the Chanter. These things made me give a damn about lothering and I was so sad when it was destroyed. But even though it was filler, it was damn good, meaningful filler anyway. It gave the story so much more depth. There is no way there will be that type of thing in DA2. There just aren't enough lines of dialog.
Origins was a devil in the details. Let's compare beginnings. Granted, you didn't start out fighting -- you got to know your world. You could talk to people, and really get a feel for your characters and maybe even start caring about some of them. DA2, like Awakening, you're just dropped into the action. You're supposed to care about people, but you don't get to know them in the same way as you did in Origins.
DA2 is going to be a lot more like Awakening than Origins. And that makes sense as the same leadership team worked on both Awakening and DA2, but NOT Origins. The leads have a vision of a very different game -- shallower interactions, more action.
It probably will be a fun game. But don't expect the same type of depth that was in Origins. It can't be in there.
Bioware in more than one interview, and in the forums, have discussed all the things "wrong" with Origins. Things that their initial target audience (the hard core RPGers who loved BG) most likely loved, but the new target audience does not. They are ignoring the fact that DAO won all the awards because the new leads do NOT want to produce that type of game.
Ultimately, it's only a game. I'm disappointed that there won't be another game like Origins as I loved it, but you know, it is what it is. And I'm so glad that such a wonderful game was written -- it wouldn't surprise me if other developers saw the success and went with it.
Ah well.

We didn't realize this from the way he was dealt with in Awakening?
I had already decided I was waiting to try DA2 on someone else's PC before even thinking of buying it, from my terrible experience with the demo. Now I just don't even give a ****. Nothing I've seen in the spoiler thread tickles me so far, and this is just more proof they don't want my business.

I personally prefer deep characters, and I prefer to really have the feeling that talking to them I discover their story. Seems like this won't be the case (I just hope they won't ruin what we already know, I am even worried for Anders and Nate tbh), it will probably be a fast-paced fun game, the fights sure looked fun with a rogue in the demo.
While I understand that some people are just bored by dialogues, I would like to defend my right to have a game with so much well-written dialogues and stories. Dragon Age was the first game that impressed me in a long time, and it was especially for the world thay created and the characters. Given that they already described the world, and they even stated they won't describe it again...it's is like they are using an old setting for new adventures, with some old characters to make people happy. I still hope there will be some good story behind the fighting, the fast actions and the spilling blood :\\ And yes, I am worried by cameos, but still, better some little interaction of no importance, than having my choices in Origins (or Awakening) completely ignored for the sake of DA2.

Great point! I saw those statistics on the numbers of lines etc., and while I found them disappointing I hadn't made that connection. I thought DAA was boring apart from the new mage specializations, and now that you say that, it makes me doubt I'll like DA2 all that much. I've been on the fence about it.
Whereas the developers think it means wasted content, having lines that few people hear often is I think a good thing, and something I appreciate. It lets me customize my gameplay experience. I like having conversations other people wouldn't enjoy, and vice versa, so those low-use lines are only benefitting users. "Focused" gameplay just means a generic experience.
I guess I'll stay longer in the world that has hotZev.

Very true. The devs have said that they're going toward a model of shorter games with more DLC. From a numbers point of view, it makes perfect sense: shorter games with limited replayability mean the target audience will buy more games, instead of playing Origins over and over again to experience all the possible options.
Bioware in more than one interview, and in the forums, have discussed all the things "wrong" with Origins. That's the thing that really makes me sad. DA2 is different from Origins; okay, I get it. And I get that I'm not the target audience for DA2. But that doesn't mean that Origins was fundamentally broken, and DA2 is going to "fix" it.

I know for me, my copy of Origins will be well used and loved by the time I have to stop playing it - DA2 will be used most likely the first time and then tucked away as a reminder of what could have been.
