I'm just guessing, but from what I've gathered, all the elves, and only the elves, may be shoeless.

If they are, I hope there's a mod that fixes that.

You know I have been musing on that Zev pic................ And I have decided that since my own dear husband is not as thin as he once was (and neither am I) and I still love him as much, that I will take Zev for who he is regardless, as it was his personality that attracted me anyway. Don't get me wrong what has been done is unforgivable at some level but providing they haven't altered his voice or personality I am just going to look past the stupid alterations.....Since it is too late to do anything anyway. :/

Oh hey, for all the new folks, I should probably explain this prompt thing, eh?

It's open to anyone, in whatever medium - writing, art, interpretive dance (post a link to your YouTube video), toolset-generated composition... whatever. Theme varies by week.

There's a competitive aspect, but that's option - if you want to create something but not compete, that's cool. If you're competing, there's a time limit (3 hrs). If you're not, take as long as you want.

When you submit a prompt entry, also tell us how many prompts you've sponsored (come up with the idea for). Whether or not you compete, I'll pick next week's prompt-giver from among the entrants with the fewest number of prompts to their names. You don't have to offer a prize as a prompt-giver, btw.

I have a question, if I may, about something I have been mulling over. It's obvious from my signature where I usually reside. There's a few (or so) of us over that that are definately Zevgirls. Just wondering if it works the other way around.

Is it a Zevran thing or is it an assassin thing?

Well, since I don't know who/what Drell is... ;) (Aside from it being ME-related, I mean...)

I was trying to be subtle because I don't know all the board rules.

I see you winking at me, so unsure if you know who I'm talking about. Referring to Thane, of course. :) Just seeing if it's limited to the few of us on Drellickers or if some of you other Zevfans are the same. Just a question in my boredom I suppose.

Gaaaaargh........ Just wrote a lengthy reply..... And my laptop turned off.
So - bullet points I'm afraid - Yes they have certain similarities and we do love dangerous men (both expected to die on meet the player mission) But Zev is comedy gold and Thane is very serious (love them both)
On the Kaidan thread though there are LOT of Alistair fans......So there are clearly certain triggers for appeal. It will be interesting to see who people will choose in DA II (I lurk on Anders and Fenris) but if they gave me a Zev option in II I'd most likely fall for it.... ;) Even with the new look!

Well, after looking at the inhabitants of the dalish camp in DA2, I will be relieved to look at the face of Zevran. He shines among elves, enough said.

While I have to admit the roguish/assassin type has his appeal, that was not what I liked in Thane...even because he was so atypical and spiritual. Maybe Garrus had more of it (and I liked him too, for the matter, so yes I am just the type to fall for the roguish appeal).
But for "roguish" I do not mean the class or the weapons they use, it's more the attitude, a way of talking. Anders for me had it too, I didn't see him much like Alistair, as many claim.

No, Alistair's was an innocent and idealistic charm, not like Anders at all. I think he may suffer Sbarge/Carth syndrome tbh..... (which is daft imo) He looks a little similar and the voice is very similar so people think he is the same *shrugs*
One of Zevran's many points of appeal is that he is very experienced, not just with sex but in life and emotion and seems to have more emotional maturity than some of the others, more of an 'accept that which you cannot change', approach, he is possibly far more philosophical too. I think a lot of it is that you have to unearth who he really is, he doesn't just share everything. On my first couple of play throughs I didn't get nearly so many conversations as when I started to make an effort (I'm just waffling now aren't I..... < rhetorical) ;)

Ahh. I haven't played ME yet (only got it recently), so have only ever heard the name of Thane. I know nothing else.

Not only "accept that which you cannot change", but also "let's make the best out of it". His approach to life seems light and superficial only if you don't bother to understand him and what he had to endure. Instead of crying and pitying himself, instead of looking for comfort and comprehension (like Alistair basically, even though he was somewhat cute); he doesn't need someone that takes care of him, just someone to share his thoughts and (later of) life with. I find him very mature, I'm past the "help this poor sad guy who had a traumatic past" phase after all...so the approach of Zevran was freash and very appreciated.

I don't think I'd call Zevran emotionally mature or philosophical.. unless you count pragmatism as a philosophy, I suppose.  Resilient, yes - very much so.  He does what he has to do to survive and stay sane; he has a toolbox of coping techniques that get him by (mostly).  But the emotionally mature reaction to wondering if you might be falling in love with someone is not to jump on the first opportunity to kill her, because feelings are too scary.

Philosophically, your good Stoic ought to recall the other two parts of that charge: courage to change the things one can, and the wisdom to know one from the other.  Zev's good, excellent even, with accepting the cards he's been dealt and making the best of them.  But he doesn't strike me as being very interested in the wisdom, or the changing (at least, not until it's Warden Time).  He is what he is, refuses to examine that too closely, and so armors himself against self-loathing and self-hatred.  Good for survival, not so good for self-knowledge.

I can answer.
Zevran's romance is my favourite in DA:O. While Thane's in ME2 is not my cup of tea. The two characters have some things in common, but many thigs are very different. I guess there are too many variables in play and you can't really make any assumption of which romance people will like based on their other choice in different game (e.g. I enjoyed Garrus as LI in ME2, but that romance subplot pushes very different buttons than Zevran in DA).

I've never played ME2 (I don't like games with guns, starships and stuff like that), but I watched my husband playing it. ;) But from what I saw there - Thane would have been my favorite character.

Thanks for the replies! I just found them to have more depth of characther than some of the others. And you really kind of had to put some effort into. Sure, you could sleep with Zev almost from "boo" but if you really wanted to get to know him, you *had* to talk to him. It's a bit like that with Thane as well. You can stop talking to him after his loyalty mission (or fail his mission *shudders*), but if you want to get to know the character, conversation is still required.

I just found both of them quite interesting. When they love you, they *really* love you, they are not wishy-washy about it, nothing short of death will keep them from you.

Maybe I just have a thing for bad boys. :)

My point about philosophy and maturity was relative to the other characters not to real life........ :)
And it is all subjective anyway. We all see different things in each other or everyone would be the same :)
When two people play a BioWare game they can see two very things in any given character - which is why some people hate Zev for no reason.

In the spoiler thread they mentioned he is just fine, especially his voice as always, at least for the tastes of who was graciously feeding spoilers.

And looking at the new model of elves, as I already said, Zevran shines, even with the bad screen

*sigh* I KNOW I'm being bad but I just can't help it. Really, some of us loved the original Zev, some of us modded him a bit and some of us *really* modded him, but he always looked like Zevran. I'm trying really hard to be positive about it. It just seems like all the elves in the DA2verse got the end of an ugly stick.

Well, I even remember when many when he was announced didn't like his looks. Not "elven" at all, rough traits, big lips, dark skin...and then not only we got used to it, but here we are loving him and all his peculiar features (even the lines on his forehead, let's admit it).
I don't think it will matter so much, he is Zev no matter how he looks =] Yes, I overcame the screen depression, you can make it too!
