Actually, though yes, Zevran looks horrible in DA2, his cameo isn't that bad. I suspect it's bugged and everyone gets a non-romanced version (like that never happens in BW games), but he is truly a BAMF and his codex is even better.. But I love Fenris anyway; so emo, but such a sexy sexy voice. Oh, ummm, wrong thread!

I love him too, I tried not too...but really, his voice and little smiles, or angry looks too, have totally melted me.

That said, I had a different version of the Zev encounter I didn't expect!

I was a fem Hawke, went with Isabela, Anders and Varric (didn't want to have the jealous Fenrir, I will do it with him for my "real" playthrough save (and will update if something different from the other videos happens).

*****Spoilers ahead*****
When I met him, I decided to blatantly flirt with him (the "handsome elf" line). Nothing changed, all went according to the other videos. When the encounter ended though, that is what happened.
Zevran: My dear Isabela, it has been a delight to see you again. You travel in fine company.
Isabela: That's it? You're leaving? What about sex?
Zevran: Ah, Isabela. I did so miss you.
Isabela: That's because you have ******-poor aim. Thankfully, you've other uses.
And they walked away, Zevran didn't even try to flirt with my Champion, nor could I choose anything in that dialogue. My guess is that probably this happened because I didn't flirt with Isabela so they don't offer (though Isabela in the dialogue before, when Zevran asked if I was as adventurous as the Warden, said they could ask and try)? In the imported save, the flags were off (romance ones especially as we know), but they said that the Warden slept with Zevran, Zevran slept with Isabela, and the Warden slept with Isabela too. On a side note, in the codex entry my Warden is dead (no idea why and if it is related). I found it strange though that I could flirt with Zev at all, maybe the presence of Isabela blocks it somehow. I'm going to try again without her.
Edit: I've reloaded and have tried going without Isabela. Zevran proposes himslef "normally" - the "nimble fingers" line. I could accept, nothing different from other videos.
I bringed Isabela and Fenris, and I can confirm that if Isabela is present (she was 100 friendly with me , never romanced) Zev just has that dialogue and walks away with her without inviting Hawke (so no jealous Fenris).  But the funny thing in this case was, while Isabela and Zevran walked away:
Anders: Ha.
Fenris: Are we sure he was part of a guild of assassins?
*Anders and Fenris look at each other*
It was like the only point in the game where they looked somewhat friendly and thinking the same thing :°D Zevran manages to do that too! Now for the last reload, jealous Fenris squeee (I swear, I'm not usually a squeeeing fangirl but...) - even though I'm not sure, maybe I'll leave Zev to Isabela...

(and Zev freaking went off to sex Isabela, imported romance be damned.)

You were hoping that Zevran might not do that? Now that would be really out of character for him.

I don't think it would be out of character for an in-love Zevran, actually.  I mean, you could say the way he acts after he falls in love in Origins is out of character -- it is, because sex and love have changed for him.

I still believe that we're getting incorrect dialog there -- his cameo was put in as a fan service (though, given his codex, you never know, he may be in further DAs installments yet) and it would make more sense to give his fans a little squee.  But unless they release a toolset or someone cracks the talk table, we can't know for sure.

However, I wasn't as bothered by that cameo as I thought I would be  but that's because I actually like Fenris' romance as much as Zevran's and it was a squee and reassuring moment there.  Plus, reading his codex DID give a lot of good information of what ended up happening with him, and just how badass he is.

Edit: I believe Fenris this time around was the only one of the romances DG wrote.  I swear, he is a master of dialog -- he knows exactly what buttons to push.

Yeah, I can understand the "reassuring moment".

While I was reading the codex entry I was somewhat grinning satisfied. He totally rocks. And I imagined that, like Awakening ending assumed, my Warden did help him in the process. I could picture them breaking havoc in Antiva! :D

We don't know where the Warden is, I just hope a romanced Zevran knows at least, but to be honest Isabela is a different matter that for some reason I can understand and accept. I still won't accept him, if romanced, proposing to Hawke, but that is just me maybe :x

Praise again to Mr. Gaider indeed...and to whoever chose Zevran and Fenris VAs. They really enrich such already complex characters.

Fullsize: link, 31 hours and 15 minutes so far. Many more to go. (If you're unfamiliar with my work, no, Zev's eyes won't stay blank white and those fingernails are just blanked off while I color the skin around em... and I leave tattoos until pretty much last.)

Drawing ICevoL's Rysen with Zevran. Obvious D/s but I don't think it's too nsfw. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong and I'll edit to a simple link.

On another topic, I'm borrowing DA2 and I like Fenris enough that he'll get pulled into Silver and Scarlet once the plot gets past Awakening. So that should be... interesting. Damaged elves all around.

Aw, thanks! Though it's no harder or more patience-requiring than traditional mediums like charcoal or actual paint. :) None of which are options for me anymore, so I make use of what I've got.

For you, maybe :°D Charcoals, pencils, brushes...are much more immediate and require a lot less stress for me than Paint. Or Photoshop and Paint too, for the matter. I don't know, I even bought a tablet to try to learn, but as of now I don't have much time, and everytime I try it feels like I am losing time..because I know that it would take me 1 hour or less with "real" mediums to color something, while in Photoshop I'm losing ages and I'm not even satisfied. But I'm not giving up...I just need more time (and patience) than my RL and work will ever allow >.<

That's part of why I haven't bothered learning any other programs yet. I know how to do everything in Paint, because that's all I had for years and years and years, and it'd take me forever to learn it in other programs at this point.

Unfortunately there are some things Paint is incapable of pulling off, so I'll eventually learn them anyway. Someday. I'm in no rush to start from scratch again.

I'm so used to MS Paint that it's less icons and boxes and more like a broken-in glove at this point.

Edit: One time I told my comic-painter roommate to open Paint so I could show her how to check the dimensions on something and I stared in slack-jawed astonishment as she went hunting through menues and submenues to find it, only to load a completely virgin and untouched Paint. I seriously just stared for a minute, haha. I think I may even have stammered something.

It's so weird sometimes that people don't use it.  Paint and notepad are both always open on my machine, often in multiple instances of each.

Perspective is funny, though. Most people would have that same reaction watching me prod at photoshop, I'm sure.

Prompt: Flat-ears
Time limit: Three hours
Deadline: 9am EST, 3/14/11

*cough* *cough* Anyone?

Okay, I get it.  DA2 came out.  Hm.

How about a different prompt?

PromptDA2 Cameo

Change the dialogue in the canon cameo, draw an encounter with or without your Warden in tow, write an entirely different scenario - whatever!  What would you have rather seen in DA2 than what we got?

Time Limit: Tear yourself away from DA2 for just one hour to participate

Deadline: 9am EDT, 3/21/11.  Yes, the US is doing our 'daylight savings time' thing again, so all you living in more rational countries make sure you've got the right conversion.

Prize: Prose or poetry

*grin* Now I've finished the game I'll try to submit something. XD

You're killing me here XD The first prompt is something I want to poke at in the next chapter or so of my fic, and the second is super-tempting... but I'm nowhere near that far in the game yet. Trying to find the context will probably require spoiling myself via YouTube

Update because I like seeing the thread have people posting in it! :D

32 hours, 15 minutes

Drew in the braid, fingernails, and Zev's lower lip, and some neck/chest goodness. I know that armor is pulling pretty far to the side, but I figure part of that is the angle (and pressure of laying on someone + shifting to one side), and part of it is... it's prettier that way.

:?<_<

Then go context-free.  If you could write whatever Zev cameo you wanted for DA2, what would it be?  With Warden or without, immediately post-Blight or ten years after...  whatever you fancy.

ok, I'll need to read that codex. lol

I'm glad David Gaider still loves Zevran and his fans. I just think a lot of the direction with the visual style and character interaction is bad. That's not David Gaider's fault, even if he was all for some of the changes. I really am doubting that this game will be worth my 60 bucks, though. We'll see what the mod community does with it. I really think if they had two years to work on this game instead of one, it would be better. No matter how intrigued I am by some of the characters, I'm not buying it on characters alone.

And... wtf... I just found out the elves are all barefoot for some reason. I did not know that one could have a genetic predisposition to not wearing shoes.

I'm one of those people who needs details of a game world to be well crafted and to make sense, otherwise, there's zero immersion for me. I'm reading about and seeing screencaps of far more immersion breakers in 2 than there were in Origins... And Origins had plenty of immersion breaking flaws. This is rather sad. I hope with the third installment, they give themselves AT LEAST two years, if not more, so that there won't be so many cut corners and so that they can actually IMPROVE the flaws of the previous games instead of trying to mask them with stylistic changes and extravegant battle animations and explosions.

And I do hope that Zevran will be a reoccurring character, not just in little fan service cameos, but in an epic manner as I'm getting the impression the codex implies. It does sound like David Gaider loves him as much as we do (though likely more plutonicly. XD ) I still think there should have been a Zevran in Antiva DLC, and I still think David Gaider would have given us one had he been allowed to do so.

I'm curious, does anyone know who's decision it was to only spend a year on DA:2? Was it EA, or Bioware?

PromptDA2 Cameo

Another non-entry.  I haven't imported my US canon Warden yet, but when I do, I expect I won't get anything like this at all...

----------------------------------------

“Hawke,” Varric protested from behind her as she strode down the plush carpet in the viscount’s keep, “do you really think that just barging in on the ambassador is the right way to -- ”

Bang! She kicked the door open and leveled a blade at the elf who was quickly rising from his writing desk. “Stop right there, Ambassador Arainai,” she warned. “Or should I say ‘assassin’?”

He tilted his head, and as she stalked closer, she saw that he was frowning slightly. “Don’t deny it,” she barked. “I’ve seen the letters.”

His eyes - cold and golden, like a snake’s - flickered from her to Varric and to Merrill, then back to her. “You have been played, ser,” he informed her, a hint of a smile playing around his lips.

“I said -- ”

“Oh, I do not deny it. Quite the contrary. I am the Guildmaster of the House of Crows, woman."  His tone was abrupt, almost dismissive. "Of course I am an assassin.” He folded his arms and lifted both eyebrows.

“The Crows - you mean the assassin’s guild?” Varric asked with surprise. “Why would the king of Antiva send you as an ambassador? Isn’t that a little... threatening?”

“The Crows run Antiva. I run the Crows. He who wishes to deal with Antiva, deals with me."  He shrugged. "This is an open secret, very well known to anyone... well, anyone of sufficient rank, apparently.” Hawke bristled at that. “As I said, you have been played, ser. The viscount is well aware of who and what I am. I suspect that either you or one of your companions is expected to die on my blades, or else on those of my compatriots if you were to kill me. Such an insult could not go unanswered, you realize.” He tapped his lips with his fingers, considering. “Your apostate, perhaps? I am very good with mages. She would die almost instantly.”

“I am not without defenses!” Merrill snapped.

“Of course not. That is why you would be first,” he said, giving her a little bow. “Or perhaps your Merchant’s Guild is scheming?” he nodded at Varric. “But you,” he looked to Hawke again, “seem to be the leader of this merry band and the most likely target. Well.” He sighed deeply, crossed his arms again and regarded them each in turn. “Now that I have confirmed your terrible suspicions and given you a free assessment of your situation, may I return to my correspondence? I assure you - I am not worth dying over.”

"I'll check your story with the viscount," Hawke warned.

"You do that," the elf waved irritably, sitting back down.  "And if elect not to take revenge on the person who set you up for this encounter, I do ask that you pass the name along," he said, very businesslike, as he hunted among a selection of quills for one with a good sharp tip.  "I do not appreciate the interruption."

I think they turned out good, though I'm going to give Zev's armor some blue/teal bits to help balance the color, lol.

I feel bad that I never have anything to contribute to the actual topics of discussion anymore, but at least it's a thread bump? And involves hot Zevran.

35.5 hours so far, still got more armor stuff to do (the dark grey bits and all the straps) and then Zev's ink and then fiddly little line-balancing acts and then maaaaybe will be done. :3
