Yeah, fullfilling is the right word for me too.
Alistair falls in love with you and starts giving you roses even if you are just kind and friendly with him. You have just to acknowledge and accept his feeling, and it is done. Don't get me wrong, I really like Alistair, he is adorable.
With Zevran, you have to go through a lot before he realizes his feelings. Moreover, I find it is more natural somehow. Maybe it is just my life experience. But I find more natural his romance, where you know him step by step and you have to break some walls, before he really exposes his heart. So yeah, it really feels my Warden and Zevran both achieved something building up their relationship.

Edit for ToP (why always when I don't expect it?)
I don't think this was ever posted, and I find the design brilliant.

Wowza, that is amazing! On another tangent, I have never romanced Zev with a female character (all slash for me I'm afraid) - does it play out as wonderfully? I imagine there would be some variation in the dialogue?

TeamZev has a bar banner, as you'll see in many of our signatures.  We do not have a stamp banner, but someone could make one...?

On that note, would anyone around be willing to make me a stamp for sig?  There's something direly important to the franchise cause that I need to advertise.

I am under the impression its the same, except for the wording of some dialogues.  Others around here would be able to tell you more....

While the romance does go along the same paths and ends up in the same place, there are some interesting differences in dialog.  He definitely approaches a female differently than he does a male.

Some examples:
-a female will never hear that he was raised by both male and female wh*res (so many fanfics written by women get that detail wrong).
-with a female he focuses on the aspect that he used seduction to get close to his targets while with a male he points out that while he had sex for business reasons, he also did for pleasure
-with a female, he's more flirty, with a male he's a bit more careful.

Edit: His declaration of love is pretty much the same for either gender.

Female wardens do get more romance banters regarding him than male ones do.

@ejoslin thanks! I may try that sometime...but my preference is still a full-on M/M romance. I did the Alistair-F!Warden romance on my very first playthrough, but it was just too...peachy for my taste.

Oh, Fem!Warden's romance with Zevran is far closer to Male!Warden's romance with him than Alistair's romance *grin* It's just some small variations in dialog. Though it is worth doing his romance with both genders because they do have a different feel to them -- David Gaider did an amazing job with that.

You know, one other very telling difference... To a female warden, he only discusses his bisexuality in a personal conversation -- he actually reveals it only to a female he's romancing who asks specifically about his romantic history. With a male, it's a given; he's far more open about this.

See I didn't realize he's not that open about his sexuality with a female char... hmmm... maybe I'll make a pretty elf girl for him on my next play - which actually could start tonight.... nomnomnom

You mean Zevran doesn't specify if the Warden is female, yes? I seem to remember him saying he was raised communaly by the ****s (just generic '****s'). Given it's Antiva and he mentions elsewhere there *are* male ****s, I would have thought it logical to assume he was raised by both males and females without him needing to say it in so many words.

But.to be honest I didn't even notice this difference when I did my male playthrough. Huh.

Edit: Maker damn your censorship, BSN. *sigh*

In the female dialog he says it generically.  In the male one, he makes a point of saying he was raised by both male and female wh*res.  But I think you're thinking of the conversation about the dalish (that actually is the one where he says he was raised by wh*res), not the romance specific have you always been.../You must have quite a history. With women, I mean... conversations. Here are the lines:

Female: I grew up amongst ****s, my dear. Sex is best when done well, and truly that is my only rule.

Male: I grew up amongst Antivan ****s, men and women both. My introduction to the subject of sex was, shall we say, rather practical.

Edit: Zevran is very open about his sexuality with both male and female wardens -- I hope I didn't imply otherwise.  But he focuses more on his experiences with men with a male warden.

The stamps folks are using are from deviantart, automatically resized by the board. Most stamp-makers prefer their stamps only get used on devart, so there's that.

Zev sure is enjoying that gun, amirite.

Edit: I'd make a Zev stamp suitable for the board (and whatever Tell's wanting), but my GIF program went splat and I don't know enough about .png to pull off transparencies on a pixel-by-pixel level. So. ^^;; I have a Zev stamp on devart, but it's tiny little quote text since it's meant to not be resized.

Mod news. Apparently, there's finally a mod that fixes (somewhat) Zevran's face in DA2.
But there's no image... I wonder what the result is.

No offense to the mod's author, but I think their design is worse. Sad to say that I've played the scene quite a few times and even holding my hand up over the screen, I catch glimpses of... the thing... and there's something about it (perhaps the eyes?) that can almost be recognized as Zevran. There's some feature about the model they're using that IS different from other elves in the game. His tattoo is gone as well, in this mod, and that's a pretty big immersion break.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate that people are trying, but I think without the toolset, bringing him back in line with his original look is going to be impossible. Otherwise, people are just better off sticking Fenris' head on him for the time being.

No no, I was just curious when you said fanfic writers get it wrong with the male/female wh0res thing, and wasn't seeing where Zev implies being raised by wh0res (to a woman) meant being raised solely by *female* wh0res. But in the context of that particular dialogue I see what you mean. :)

Ooooh, I didn't mean that at all.  I meant I see fanfics written by female authors who make a point of saying that the wh*rehouse was completely female, because if someone hasn't played the male romance, they won't see him talking about growing up among male wh*res.

Either way, where he was raised had males and females.  I think if you reduce it to just females, however, you can picture a bit more of a sorority type atmosphere (sugarcoating things, as it were).

Edit: Zevran's story is so shockingly ugly it is nice to think that it wasn't SO horrible before the Crows.  But actually he talks with nostalgia about the first apartment he lived in after he was bought by the Crows -- it seems that actually, at 7, that was a better life than at the wh*rehouse.

Which is pretty depressing,tbh.

Gotcha! Wow, really? They say all *female* workers? Did these writers visit the Pearl? XD And that's just Ferelden! Not that, I suppose, a brothel couldn't be exclusive, but why limit your clientele?

Maybe they just didn't think about it, prostitution being (I hesitate to use the word...) *traditionally* a female profession. But you could be right, I wouldn't be surprised. :)

You know, I miss him a lot in DA2. So much conversation is angst and doom and gloom, not that I mind those things, but I *miss* the conversations that made me laugh and go away smiling. In Origins just about every character made me giggle at one time or another, or at least feel good, but it's *hard* to find that in DA2. :/

It is all a bit serious, the humour is lacking a little in 2. The party banter occasionally makes me smile but in Origins it made me ROFL (usually because of Zev tbh....)

No one can beat Zevran's "I am yours." Jon Curry... Gah, no clue how he got so much love portrayed in those three little words, but yeh.

I miss the humor of DAO as well. As bleak as things were, yeh, there were some great moments there. I didn't like my Alistair hate games because he was genuinely funny. And the banters... Yeh. OMG, Zevran was just so great at deflecting everyone.

Sadly, I don't know that we'll see another character like Zevran. He was just so much fun.  But he pushed people out of their comfort zones because he was flirty too.  But gah, what charm!  I do like him in DA2 even bugged because he IS still fun!  Even his battle cries.

@ejoslin very true and so sexy. I hope BioWare realise what a gem he was/is because he was real comic relief but in his serious and passionate moments encapsulates what it is like to feel like you are the only person in the world to someone.........
Also DA II could have done with way more Zev.
@Giggles ^ lol.

I haven't posted in this thread, but used to post in the old Zevran thread.   It's great to see some familiar faces here.
I've been lurking on and off for a while.  I couldn't resist checking for new artwork.   I have happy memories of waking up to Aro's WIPs.  (Not sure that sounds the way I meant).   There was so much great art and writing, and Charsen's and ejoslin's amazing work on modding, and, of course, the Friday night shenanigans.  I've been delighted to see that there's plenty of eye candy still around, despite the thread being quieter than the old one.  You are a talented lot.

I've been keeping out of the way recently because I didn't want spoilers for DA2.  I'd heard some negative things, but now I've played through, I've been pleasantly surprised with the way romance was handled.   Some things were worse, but some things were improved.   I also enjoyed the Zevran cameo, even though it didn't reflect the import I used.  I suppose I was just pleased to see happy Zevran. I can't post on the DA2 forums with this account, because I stupidly registered my game on a different account, but never mind.  I don't think I'm ever going to have as much to say as I had to say about Zevran :).  I suppose that romance was my first in-game character romance and it reminded me of my real life relationship in some ways, so I'll always have a soft spot for him :)

(Thanks to those of you who sent thoughts when I disappeared a few months ago - very much appreciated :)).

That is pretty slick looking, Aroihkin!

Just asking... Is anyone apart from me kinda pissed with how they've changed Zevran's appearance in DA2? I've not played the game yet, but Zevran is important, so I kinda sneakpeeked... And I was very upset. O_O

I think pretty much everyone is facepalming at Zev's DA2 morph. Not much we can do about it until there's a toolset update, though. :/ Poor mutant Zevran.
