In the female dialog he says it generically. In the male one, he makes a point of saying he was raised by both male and female wh*res. But I think you're thinking of the conversation about the dalish (that actually is the one where he says he was raised by wh*res), not the romance specific have you always been.../You must have quite a history. With women, I mean... conversations. Here are the lines:
Female: I grew up amongst ****s, my dear. Sex is best when done well, and truly that is my only rule.
Male: I grew up amongst Antivan ****s, men and women both. My introduction to the subject of sex was, shall we say, rather practical.
Aha! I see what you mean. Thanks
Edit: Zevran is very open about his sexuality with both male and female wardens -- I hope I didn't imply otherwise. But he focuses more on his experiences with men with a male warden.
No no, I was just curious when you said fanfic writers get it wrong with the male/female wh0res thing, and wasn't seeing where Zev implies being raised by wh0res (to a woman) meant being raised solely by *female* wh0res. But in the context of that particular dialogue I see what you mean.

Ooooh, I didn't mean that at all. I meant I see fanfics written by female authors who make a point of saying that the wh*rehouse was completely female, because if someone hasn't played the male romance, they won't see him talking about growing up among male wh*res.
Either way, where he was raised had males and females. I think if you reduce it to just females, however, you can picture a bit more of a sorority type atmosphere (sugarcoating things, as it were).
Edit: Zevran's story is so shockingly ugly it is nice to think that it wasn't SO horrible before the Crows. But actually he talks with nostalgia about the first apartment he lived in after he was bought by the Crows -- it seems that actually, at 7, that was a better life than at the wh*rehouse.
Which is pretty depressing,tbh.
