Edit: Now that the internet is finally cooperating, I finally have time to read the other entries/non-entries.

@ Corker ~ Both the non-entries and "Dies the Fire" were very good, great twist on the Dalish Origin and the fury the taint had on her.

@ Jenovan ~ Alessar the Assassin! I really liked the way you handled his interrogation by the others and his acceptance into the group by Zevran. Very enjoyable.

Oh, poor Vashti. ;_; Clever way to have her 'hired', and might I say you captured Howe particularly well with just that little bit of dialogue. I could really hear his voice there (the others were good too, he just stood out to me). Zev granting a merciful death also felt perfectly in character for him, esp. in light of Ruck. Also really really liked tainted!Mahariel's POV, nicely written.

Alessar is so cute in this scene...you know, for some reason I really like seeing him as a non-Warden, and having Zevran make him feel special! I just hope he doesn't get dumped over Morrigan or something >.< Love the quiver idea...makes perfect sense for an archer. And I have to wonder if the hares decoration means Zev sees Alessar as prey...of a sort.

I always loved 'Birthright' and an positively gleeful to see the Lorelai-style fic for this prompt "The nose is perfectly average if you’re a dwarf." This and so many other lines had me laughing, and I'm glad they got a happy ending in this AU.

Dear Maker, any other Wardens you want to trot out this week? ;D Odessa's attempted seduction is amost as perfect as Zevran walking around with no shirt on. I love how she stays calm and cold even when she's captured, and is perfectly willing to help kill her hirelings. Good spin on the 'ambush'!

Another ambush spin! A duel sounds right for a 'noble' Cousland, and you got Ser Gilmore in there too I really liked some of the banter in there, though I was expecting Zev to ask something else as payment--even if he wasn't serious hehe. Nice entry! Does your Warden have a name? I don't think I saw it in there.

Oh, thank you! And double thanks for the great prompt - I obviously found it inspirational. This was a ton of fun.

@Hilde - I was wondering how a canon mage origin might work for this - using Uldred to tie in with Loghain's plotting was awesome! That was clever thinking.

@jenovan - Seconding Shadow's love for unrecruited!Alessar. It fits so well with his general unpretentious, just-folks style. I could readily see Zevran's outgoing charm turned to fit a leadership position, with Alessar as the quiet, unpretentious pillar of strength next to him.

@Taisin2 - Oh, nice co-opting the Ser Landry duel! Taking canon elements and twisting them *just so* is one of my favorite parts about AUs, so that little touch delighted me. It makes perfect sense that a Cousland would do such a thing.

Now, not to rain on Hilde's prompt parade, but I don't think Taisin2 has had *any* prompts before, and IIRC, non-entries still count for prompt-selection purposes (so that people who don't like competition can still have a shot at authoring prompts). So I think it's Taisin2's turn...

And thanks to both of you for your comments XD I was pondering Alessar's (perceived) usefulness to the group and realized that the city elf origin *is* pretty unglamorous. Although I suppose infiltrating a noble's estate for a rescue attempt with no previous related experience earns points for gutsiness. ;D I do imagine there would be times when the Warden would appreciate some calm common sense, without preachiness attached. ;D

(As for the hares... bahaha XD I think Zev thinks of Alessar of more hare than hawk, anyway... ;D)

Wow, I'm finding this the hardest prompt since "Jealousy," a while back!

...at least partly because every idea I'm having is turning into a rant about what I perceive to be deficiencies in the Chantry's theology as-written. >.<

(But I mean, come on... surely 'sing the Chant of Light in all the corners of the world' should be interpreted allegorically, not literally, right? Right? And the co-divinity of Andraste with the Maker, and their respective roles and responsibilities toward creation should be clearer. And and and...)

What buggers me personally, it's the complete absence of "original sin" myth. Black City doesn't count, for quite evident reasons: to do blood sacrifices to reach the Fade the mages had to be corrupted already. And still: no myths, no names, nothing. But the concept of sin exists. Strange, strange. And yeah, the Maker who is supposedly absent but somehow isn't. It could work if Andraste is the only one he is supposedly listening to, so she is the channel - but how the concept of saints is entering in this? ...um. Stopping the offtopic rant
