That... just makes me think of Zev helping with Fenris' reading lessons.

And no one has the right to be THAT HOT with reading glasses.

Oh! Aro was too modest to link to her own stuff!

Gaaah, my work filters do not like dA so I cannot embed the images. Possession (NSFW level: shirtless dudes kissing) still gets my top vote but Camaraderie (SFW) comes in close behind.

Oh, if I'm gonna use my own stuff, I'll just leave this here:

And since Corker likes the pic so much, here's Camaraderie:

<3! I'd thumbnail Possession but now you've got me paranoid about its worksafe-ness. o.o

No one ever fainted when I've posted the secret santa Zev/Al before, though. So there's that.

I'm pretty confident I could manage a fix, if I had the means. I've certainly drawn him enough, in enough detail. :pinched:

Although my biggest gripe with the new morph can't be fixed anyway. The eye shape. I just... no. No.

I'm with ES on this one, the elves in that region are obviously just mutants. Antivan and Fereldan elves clearly didn't get bitten by the radioactive Na'vi who was apparently terrorizing Thedas. I can only hope Flemeth disposed of it.

I feel more free to discuss since I'm not able to write for this one. XD; (Discussing something I mean to put to paper never goes well... )

I think Morrigan's dislike of Zevran comes from several sources, including what Corker's already pointed out. I might even amp up "unwanted curiosity" to "reluctant attraction". While she vehemently states that she wouldn't let Zevran touch her, she does admit, if a male Warden chooses Zevran over her, that "he has his charms". I could see her becoming extra annoyed about his flirty banter if she found him at all attractive. XD;

I tend to see Zev as very perceptive, given his profession and his observations throughout the game. He's already let on that he suspects Morrigan of being up to something, and I would think she doesn't like that, either. I believe he's the only one who will tell her that to her face (although I don't think it'd be news to her that Alistair and Wynne don't trust her XD) -- but I don't think she'd be all that worried about Alistair or Wynne doing more than feeling suspicious. Perhaps in her mind, Zevran just might take things into his own hands if he thinks she poses a danger to the Warden, just as she might feel compelled to do if Zev followed up on his initial attack (which Morrigan just seems to be waiting for).

Edit: Page 200 coming up!  Should we do something special? :wizard:

/has only read the last page but wanted to add this...

Morrigan says outright that Zevran is attractive. In the conversation after the companion falls in love, she calls Alistair a fool and says he must at least be good in bed to have the warden's attention.  She calls Leliana vapid IIRC and has no clue what the warden sees in her.  She calls Zevran attractive and gets why the warden wants him.  She also says that he must be good in bed because of the risk that the warden is taking being with him.

I don't think Morrigan dislikes Zevran, tbh.  I think they actually understand each other very well.

Now I probably have repeated things other people have said because I'm being annoying and NOT really catching up.  But I wanted to pop in and say HI and HUGS and all that!  :D

I think Morrigan recognises the predator in Zevran, and her comments about risks implies she hasn't seen what Wynne claims to have seen--that lowering of guard when he's around his lover. She believes he's the sort of thing she approves of, in it for the mutual enjoyment rather than emotion, affection or attachment. In that sense she approves of him.

Happy 200th page, Zev thread #2! :D

Prompt: Morrigan

  • Zevran: You wound me.
  • Morrigan: I have considered doing far more than that, trust me.
You might think two of the party's more morally flexible members would get along like a house on fire, but... they don't.  Let's have random fireside banter, jealous sniping, Ft Drakon rescues, guard duty together, and/or some insights into what they really think of each other and why.

Prompt ends Monday, June 27th at noon EDT.

Time: Three hours
Prize: A story or poem.

(Once again I look back on the prompt and think I haven't really answered it properly >.< Plus I am unsatisfied by Morrigan, because I feel I took too much from my inspiration. :P But 'tis written, so 'twill be posted. This was inspired by the Revelation comic Gaider and Aimo did, since, in Asleena Cousland's playthrough, Alistair wasn't around.)

Time: 1.5 hours
Prompts 3

Something Wicked

Zevran prowled the halls of Redcliffe with nervous energy, telling himself that he was keeping an eye on the keep's security in case someone tried to off Ferelden's elite rather than dwelling on the truth: that he was about to take part in a battle that would dwarf the one he liked to brag about being the biggest he'd ever fought in. He didn't know what part he'd play in the actual invasion yet and no one had approached Asleena for details. She'd been uncharacteristically withdrawn ever since Alistair's departure from the Landsmeet a few days ago, and tonight after a brief meeting with Riordan and Loghain she'd looked bitter and angry and avoided everyone.

His pace changed out of habit to a casual saunter when he noticed Morrigan leaning against a wall up ahead, half hidden in shadow with her arms folded. Her yellow eyes acknowledged him but her proud face remained expressionless for once and she didn't say anything. Zevran wondered what she was doing lurking up here by herself, not that Morrigan didn't prefer solitude, but a draughty corridor rather than her own rooms or somewhere with a view was a rather odd choice unless she was waiting for someone.

He grinned and swaggered over, clicking his tongue with teasing disapproval.

"Skulking in dark corners like an assassin, my dear? What will people say!"

Her expression didn't change and she kept watching him. It wasn't a 'go away' look, nor even a particularly appraising look, simply a level stare.

"If you are not tired..." Zevran hmmed. "Perhaps...overexcited considering the march tomorrow, I could suggest some excellent diversions to rid yourself of that excess energy."

Still Morrigan remained immobile. That was unlike her. At least a threat to stab him in the face would have been something.

"Ah, never mind then," he said with a rakish smile. "Zevran can see when a beautiful woman is not in the mood, yes? I shall leave you to it."

Whatever 'it' was, he thought with a mental shrug. He passed her, tempted to find a little nook of his own from which to spy unobserved, but when he reached the stone stairwell just beyond her she said, "'Tis a strange thing, having a...a friend."

"Excuse me?" Zevran turned to glance back in polite confusion. "Were we discussing someone in particular?"

Morrigan looked uncomfortable and slightly annoyed. "You know. Or you have more of them than I thought you did."

He leaned against the wall, one foot tipped over the ankle, and rubbed his chin as he looked down at her uneasy fidgeting. "I have had several," he said lightly. "Most are dead, such are the work conditions for we assassins."

"No," Morrigan repeated, more frustration evident, "'tis not what I mean! A...close friend. A true friend."

He studied her thoughtfully. "Yes," he said at last. "Perhaps it is a strange thing to have one of those."

He revealed no more; *they* were not friends, after all, but he did say in a quiet, carrying voice, "So, you finally reached that moment yourself, hmm? The witch has bided her time, and the time has come to decide between doing what she originally came to do, or keeping her friend."

Morrigan frowned at the flagstones. "'Tis not that simple."

"Do you mean her harm?"

Her glare snapped up to him, with such fire behind her eyes he couldn't help but believe her answer: "No."

"But you are afraid for her."

"'Twould be wrong to assume you are not?"

"That is why I am here, no? To prevent what would be a most unfortunate death--not the thing Crows are usually hired for, but I am doing well so far." Zevran paused, regarded Morrigan's strangely vulnerable expression, and sighed. "The battle will be large, my dear, and people die in wars. Such was Ostagar, no? Yes, I confess I worry for her. If she dies I...I do not know."

"Zevran..." She took a breath. "If asking a friend to do something terrible might help...would you do it?"

"I ask people to do terrible things all the time, so I imagine I would. But if we are talking about the same friend, my dear...I suspect we both know how fond our Grey Warden is of *doing* terrible things."

She withdrew into herself at that and stared at the floor, hugging herself. Zevran watched her a second longer, and while he didn't know what 'help' she intended to bring Asleena, he suddenly thought he recognised her fear.

"If you wouldn't mind some more advice from an elf, I suspect you lose little by asking. But do not be surprised if she says 'no', hmm? If she is capable of refusing Alistair, she can refuse you."

The witch didn't reply, so Zevran shrugged and continued up the stairs.

It never occurred to him she might emulate Asleena's lover, throw a tantrum and flee if her offer was refused--Morrigan could be temperamental, but he did not consider her to be *that* childish.

I think Morrigan has an ample mix of respect and contempt for Zevran. He is sharp, and recognizes that she is up to something, and while he is cautious of that, he does not judge her. He treats her like he treats everyone else. I'm sure Morrigan recognizes the games he plays for what they are. When they argue, I don't hear real hate in her voice like with her and Alistair. It's more like verbal sparring.

On the other hand, he easily understands and manipulates people in ways she cannot, yet his choices don't always make sense from a calculating survivalistic POV. He is comfortable and familiar with all the petty little human rituals and superstitions. He believes in the maker and is Andrastein despite his intelligence. He will speak of compassion or mercy despite being someone who kills to survive. I'm sure all that is immensely confusing and frustrating to someone like Morrigan.

Shadow of Light Dragon, nice spin on that removed scene.

Prompt: Morrigan

Something Wicked
Shadow of Light Dragon

It is very close to the Aimo comic, not gonna lie. But that ending bit, comparing Alistair's and Morrigan's demands and subsequent abandonment of the Warden, was an insightful little parallel which I quite liked.

Congrats! The prompt ball is back in your court, and you can PM me about your prize.

Grats, SoLD! :3 Nicely handled -- I like how Zev finally jumps on the fact that Morrigan meant to "betray" the Warden, and then how he accepts her denial. Out of all the companions, he could probably understand that change of heart best. It's sort of interesting that he seems to have given Morri a little too much credit at the end, there... X3
